I get what you're saying. I suppose one could have their Assassin killing Mede in a way for the Stormcloaks then. I just personally feel that succession from The Empire wouldn't be that quick. I still feel the Empire would try and fight back, even with Solitude lost.

The Empire in all likelihood would fight back, I agree with you there. That's one reason why a Stormcloak victory would be bad for all of Tamirel. If the Imperials send more forces into Skyrim, and the fighting continues then both sides will simply become weaker and weaker, opening the way for another Elven invasion, and all but handing both Cyrodiil and Skyrim to the Aldmeri Dominion.

Here's another reason, solely for role-playing purposes, to support the empire. If your Character is a member, or the head of the Thieves Guild, then it would only make sense to (Spoiler Alert) take or give the Rift to the Empire and thus make Maven Black-Briar Jarl of the Rift.

just saying, that with no Septim on the throne the Empire fell apart. there is a pattern here: No Septim=empire needs to split to soeparate provinces and start over.

Did you not read Ritter posted? Both sides continuing to fight would drain their resources and troops. That is why neither side winning YET is ideal for the Dominion. The Thalmor would then swoop in when there is little to no resistance.

Still makes sense here. The longer the war goes the weaker both sides are. If it ends suddenly, no matter who the victor, both sides could begin to recuperate.

i only side any thief characters with the empire for purely buisness reasons. Mor gold and who knows what the TG can get away with if Skyrim stays with the empire.

And yet he was talking about if the Stormcloaks win, the fighting with the empire would continue, and the point still stands as Skyrim would be independent and that is not what the Altmer want.

that is not why you don't fight the thalmor. the thalmor have many enemies. on many sides.

You die-hard imperial supporters make it sound like the empire can come back and defeat the elves if it sticks together, when it cannot even defeat one of its rebel Veterans, how can it defeat the Altmer if they can't stop Ulfric with the dragons about.

Actually it does, if they aren't fighting in said war. If the war is between two others, the Thalmor can gather more resources for themselves. You know, in Summerset Isle? We have no indication as to what kind of numbers the Dominion has at it's disposable.

If their ability to stop the Thalmor is in doubt when united, then it all but a certainty that Cyrodiil will be crushed without the Nords. You're sacrificing them to the Elves, and based on some evidence in the game, there's a large number of Talos worshipers among them too. Even Titus Mede II (again spoiler alert) carries an amulet of Talos.

To fall apart in the face of the elves is an even worse travesty than the White-Gold Concordat itself. If you think the Thalmor have to much influence in Skyrim now, just wait until they've conquered it.
