Personally, LOTR and TES isn't something that can be compared easily. Like someone said, they're on different mediums on the same genre. You can possibly compare Dragon Age: Origins (Tons of lore if you read the codexes), or even the Game of Thrones series (Book/Show and all) to TES.

Conjuration, Illusion, Destruction, Restoration, Enchanting, Sneak. Muffle + Sneak + Dremora Summons + Firestorms/Fireball slinging without being seen = win. Enchanting to 100 ASAP to reduce Destruction/Conjuration spell cost to 0.

Flame Atronach. Can do ranged fire bolts. If I require high damage close combat, I'd summon Dremoras.
