As an assassin, you can do just fine in Ancient Shrouded or Nightingale Armor. In order to improve it to "Legendary", however, you will need the Arcane Smithing perk as well as 168 smithing skill. That can be achieved through getting your smithing to 100 and finding some +smithing armor/jewelry...

Is there a cap for sneak? With 100 skill and all sneak perks, is there a benefit to putting sneak enchants on gear?
