Alchemy and why you should use it. .. .. .. ..

This is brilliant. I will have to remember this tactic for Dragon Priests though my character is death from the shadows with a bow so most run-of-the-mill mages and draugr aren't worth the time it takes to make one. Interesting also that it will affect them. I thought undead were immune to poison.

    The Dumbing Down?

The randomness of the encounters out on the road and the radiant quest system are part of the appeal of Skyrim. Yes, it would suck if somebody I needed got killed early because of such an encounter but would also increase immersion by making a world in which Things Happen without my...

Alchemy and why you should use it. .. .. .. ..

As much as I love Alchemy, there are a few things it can do that are apparently useless for anything other than bleeding a shopkeeper dry of coin. I refer to those effects which damage Magicka and Magicka regeneration as well as their Stamina counterparts. Why make a poison to do this if your...

    The Dumbing Down?

I don't have time right now to watch the counterpoints but the first video has many valid points that I agree with and like he keeps repeatedly bringing up, this is mostly to reach as large an audience as possible (casual gamers) to make as much money as possible. I can't really fault Bethesda...

    Your WTF/LOL Moments?

"You're like me, eh? Don't fancy those clunky two-handed weapons." Says the guard with the iron warhammer strapped to his back.

    Your WTF/LOL Moments?

I just turned north up the road from Whiterun to Winterhold. A while back I had passed through here as a werewolf on a feeding frenzy. I've been doing a lot of resting to make time pass and the cow by the Battle-Born farm has since respawned. As I walked toward it, I received the werewolf...

any tips on filling gems as assassin?

Like Twiffle said, visit blacksmiths, Khajiit caravans, and general stores. You're bound to hit one. It's a fairly common enchantment. Don't waste your Perks on Speech. By the time you get to the Fence Perk, you'll be rolling in coin and there are easier ways to get rid of stolen items: join...

Considering taking a fellow forumer's advice

There is no greater temptation to the peoples of Teh Internetz than a thread which seeks to be ignored. Like moths to a flame, they come.

    crafting alchemy gear

That's pretty much it. Give your Alchemy skill a chance to increase between attempts and always use Grand soul gems to create your gear.

Alchemy and why you should use it. .. .. .. ..

I would rep if I could. I <3 Alchemy. The more I fiddle with it the more I like it. I want to create a character that knows fluff all in combat and uses the worst equipment available but is an Alchemist with Mad Skillz. I've got a character right now that is excellent in Archery (79) and with...

    Armor vs Fortify Armor

So it seems more useful as a beginner's crutch. I've got 2 pieces of armor enchanted with it. My Light Armor skill is 50 and with my enchantments its 90 something. I just wondered if a highly skilled user is better than a highly smithed set of armor. Also, I wasn't aware that Fortify Armor...

    Armor vs Fortify Armor

Just how effective is the Fortify Light/Heavy Armor enchantment? Would smithing be more effective? When crafting your armor, do you ever choose this enchantment? If given a choice between Fortify Armor or Fortify Health which would you pick? I get the impression this doesn't see a lot of use...

    again some question about assassin

My scenario is from the perspective of a level 1 character. No Perks. On a good day you're lucky to find a steel item. A dwarven item is rare. An Ebony item is like the Holy Grail and you'll pay very dearly to get one. The point wasn't to sell it but to own one of the most powerful items...

    invisibility - spell or potion

It's totally dependent on your Alchemy skill and any relevant Perks. Invisibility potions are worth a fair amount of gold so if you plan to craft a lot of them it'll help raise your skill more quickly. Another good one for raising Alchemy fast is Giant's Toe + River Betty or Creep Cluster +...

    Your WTF/LOL Moments?

Alas, I'm an Xbox 360 player. I already had 2 items on which were boosting my carry capacity and I did have a potion as well but was saving it for an emergency. This character will eventually take advantage of the Restoration Potion Exploit and craft a suitable OP item that will let me carry the...

    Your WTF/LOL Moments?

It's happening again. I'm making my way across Skyrim through the wilderness. Somehow, I've lost my follower, Jenassa. I swear she was right behind me and as I turned back from looting the corpse of a Forsworn she was gone. She had ALL my soul gems. Now I have to hope I come across some in...

    Enchanting questions

Yes, don't give up on Alchemy. If you stick with it, even if you don't take any Perks you will be able to make more potent poisons/potions than you would find from adventuring or in shops. Remember you're just starting out. I don't know what your Alchemy level is but give it a chance. Everyone...

    Enchanting questions

Not only this, but some enemies are resistant, or even immune, to poison attacks. Best to save it for a tough enemy that you know it'll work on. Draugr are a good example of foes that are immune. Also vampires.

    some sneak abilities

I completely Perked out the Sneak tree once and it was fun but serious overkill. These days I don't take more than the first rank of Stealth, Backstab, Deadly Aim, and if my character uses daggers, Assassin's Blade. You will probably find rings, necklaces and boots which Fortify Sneak more than...

How do you guys play your tealth based chars?

I don't have any stats to back this up but generally speaking, shooting things from a distance will help level your Sneak skill more quickly than just sneaking around. Go hunting and kill deer and mudcrabs. Easy targets. You can also just follow guards and people around at night. Potions and...
