You're not alone, but I think you're conflating two different problems. The Winterhold questline is definitely thin - that part's fair. But the "no consequences" thing is more about how Skyrim's quest design works in general, not specifically the college's fault.
Morrowind's guild system worked...
Yeah, the betrayal mechanic is what gets me too. Most Daedric quests are just fetch-and-fight, but Boethiah's actually makes you do the thing instead of just hearing about it. That's the difference between "evil for evil's sake" and something that actually sticks with you.
The follower part is...
That advice is solid, but I'll add: healing your followers does speed it up, but if you want it actually fast without mods, use the Restoration exploit. Cast a healing spell on yourself, then use a damage spell (or just let enemies hit you), then heal again. Yeah, it's still kind of tedious, but...
Yeah, Blood on the Ice is notorious for this. The quest has a pretty strict dialogue sequence - you're supposed to talk to the guard (Weylin, I think?) first to get the investigation rolling, and if you skip that and go straight to Calixto, the quest flags don't set properly and you're stuck...
You're not wrong, but I'd push back a little. The Atronach Stone is genuinely bad for pure mages early on - you're right about that. But it's not a trap so much as a "this stone rewards a specific playstyle" thing that new players don't understand yet.
The 50% magicka regen penalty is brutal if...
Frost is definitely solid, but you're hitting on why people don't talk about it as much - it does fall off. That stagger effect you're loving right now? It caps out. Enemies get stagger resistance as they level, and by the time you're fighting anything with heavy armor or high health pools, the...
I'm losing my mind. I had a full set of Daedric armor with Fortify Destruction and Magicka Regen enchantments that I spent like an hour perfecting, dropped it in my player home in Whiterun to swap builds, and now it's just... gone. Not in any of the containers, not on the floor, nowhere.
This...
You're not reading too much into it. That quest does lean hard into the manipulation angle, and yeah, the blood-drinking scene is deliberately weird - it's framed like a blood oath or corrupting pact, which is way more unsettling than just "become a vampire lord." The fact that he's literally...
Yeah, I get what you're saying, but I think you're conflating pacing with revelation. The issue isn't that you learn too much too fast - it's that the quests themselves don't have enough meat between the story beats.
Like, the Thieves Guild works because you're doing actual jobs. Loud and...
I'm on my second playthrough, level 22, and I've been trying to make Restoration actually work instead of just chugging potions. But even with the Regeneration spell and a few ranks in the tree, healing myself in combat feels like I'm just delaying the inevitable compared to, say, slapping on a...
I've been running a conjuration-heavy build on my 6th playthrough and just realized how much my DPS tanks when I have atronachs or dremora lords out. Like, they're aggro-ing every enemy in a 200-foot radius while I'm trying to sneak around or line up spell casts, and half the time they're...
Honestly? 40 hours is still early enough that starting fresh is probably faster than debugging. Wildlander's got a pretty specific load order for a reason - those stability issues in Solitude especially are usually from mod conflicts or load order problems, and if you've already got random...
Interior dungeons tanking that hard with a 2070 Super tells me it's probably not just the ENB/shader combo—it's likely something specific about how those systems interact with the dungeon geometry or lighting setup. Vanilla dungeons have a lot of baked-in light sources that can go haywire with...
I just realized on my current playthrough that if you become a vampire and then do the Necromage quest, that perk stacks with literally everything. I'm level 22 with a basic destruction build and I'm one-shotting dragons. This can't be intentional.
Like, I knew the perk existed but I never...
I'm on my 5th playthrough and I've never seriously invested in Restoration. I finally tried it this run and holy plops, the game is actively hostile to making it viable.
Like, Healing is fine for keeping yourself alive in a pinch, but the perks are so weak. You get Respite which lets you heal...
Nah, you're hitting on something real. The pickpocket stuff in Speechcraft is genuinely bizarre - it's like Bethesda ran out of ideas and just threw thief perks wherever. That perk where investing in Speechcraft makes pickpocketing easier should've been in Pickpocket, period.
But I'd push back...
Yeah, this is definitely a known exploit at this point but it's wild how many people never stumble on it. The shout cooldown perks make it absolutely ridiculous - you can basically keep them permanently stunlocked if you spec into that tree enough. I think most people just never grab those perks...
Seriously though, I've been doing a pure conjurer run on my 6th playthrough and it's wild how differently the game plays when you're not just summoning two dremora lords and calling it a day.
Like, the early game is rough - Summon Familiar is genuinely terrible - but once you hit Conjure...
Magic in Skyrim is genuinely limited compared to what BG3 does, but that's kind of the point - they're built on totally different engines and design philosophies. BG3 is turn-based tactical combat where positioning and action economy matter. Skyrim is real-time, and the magic system reflects...
Been replaying the Daedric artifact quests and it hit me how weird the power curve is. Like, you get the Mace of Molag Bal and it's this big deal, but the actual quest is just Molag Bal being petty about some priest. Then you do Boethiah's quest and it's literally just mind games. Azura's Star...
