Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

What has Balgruuf done wrong? He's doing what he thinks is best for his people. He's not willing to let them be slaughtered just so Ulfric can have his personal little justice. Yeah the guy got a raw deal, but he makes all the wrong choices because of it. His rebellion is the best thing the Thalmor could have hoped for.

since, there's nothing i said that was derogatory, i don't understand. being a cry baby is perfectly within your f in right.
 
The way I see it is that ulfric should have work with the empire. First they should kill all thalmer agents in skyrim then the empire informs them it's the work of a rebel group that Their ' trying to catch'. Meanwhile ulfric and his boys continue to ambush and kill thalmer that try to enter skyrim. This way the thalmer can't keep enforcing the ban on talos worship and their constantly losing agents as they try to find out what's going on in skyrim.

Over time the thalmer will lose support due to the constant deaths of their agents and ulfric, who having proven himself as a valuable asset to the empire would receive imperial backing and most likely be chosen as high king.

So in summary we would have free talos worship, no thalmer, ulfric as high king and a stronger empire(due to them not having to waste men and resources on a civil war).
If only ulfric had thought it through a bit more.

In a perfect word that's a great scenerio, but unfortunately the war in Skyrim has really been one blunder after another on both sides. A prime example of what not to do in politics and diplomacy so to speak.

The whole argument breaks down, as I see it, like this:

1) Ulfric, and your opinion of him.
2) The benefits of Independence Vs. the risks and potential pitfalls
3) The Thalmor and how much of a risk they pose to Skyrim, Cyrodiil, mankind, and Tamriel as a whole.

Really, every post here seems to hinge on one of these three things. So in the end it's up to each player to decide his/her view on each of these and how they choose to enjoy the game.
 
I can think of a few reasons to join/not join both sides:
Imperials
-They aren't racist
-The Empire will be held together
-Thalmor will have stronger hold on Skyrim
-Nord culture will become more diluted than it already has, with the banning of Talos worship

Stormcloaks
-Thalmor foothold in Skyrim will be diminished
-Nord culture will be revilatized with return of their rights (such as Talos worship) -Skyrim will be left to fend for itself against attack from Thalmor forces -Other races likely to be pushed out of Skyrim
 
thankfully, the storms are not:

racists, or
dumb, and

understand that the empire is on a thread. AND, they just tried to illegally execute my true high king.

The "Storms" can say what they want. In my game, they're not doing much these days.

the 'storms' are the one's defending the integrity of a nation.
