Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

Hey everyone! This is my first post to the forum, yet I've been keeping my eye on things and following this thread. Question; when the second war between the Dominion and the Empire almost inevitably occurs, will not the Thalmor scattered across the provinces pose a particularly difficult, perhaps even logistical nightmare for the Legion?

The imperials yes they where trying to exacute you but they thought you where a stormcloak and i dident see the stormcloaks trying to tell the imperaials you wernet a stormcloak and there racist.

Only the captain did, which shows poorly on the legion, if they allow people like her to be in the legion.you don't see may characters killing everyone he/she thinks is a bandit, do you?

Plus, the Stormcloaks did not help you because, why would they? They did not know you.

Yes, well, the Legion is definitely awful then. Go Stormcloak. It seems like the kind of righteous and honorable cause that got the South to secede and ultimately get their asses kicked.

Never said they were awful, just that what she did to you reflected poorly on the legion. The opinions of a group are based on the individuals.

ULFRIC WAS GAGGED AT THE TIME! sorry, but like I said, They did not know you, for all they know you could be a murderer or attemptedan assassination on the Emperor.

So then, this means that it is entirely fair to argue that the wantonly racist Stormcloak sympathizers in Windhelm "show poorly" on Ulfric's side - and by extension, that all of the associated concerns/disputes about them as a faction are warranted. Just want to make that clear, since it's always preemptively dismissed by people most excitedly supporting the Stormcloak side.

Maybe that's not what you really believe...but seriously. If we're going to open up the "one bad apple spoils the bunch" Pandora's Box, then strap yourselves in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! :coffee:

Totally different, the captain was a officer of the legion, their representative. Rolff and his buddy do not represent the Stormcloaks, they can reflect poorly on windhelm, though.

How do they not reflect badly on the Stormcloaks? Windhelm is the home base for the faction, and for godsake, Rolff is the brother of Ulfric's lieutenant. They are all individually shown to be sympathetic to the cause, I have no idea how you could overlook that connection.

I personally have not argued that all Stormcloaks are racists, as others have. My point is the method of argumentation here. And that it is problematic and liable to hypocrisy - on both sides.

I already said why. They are not soldiers representing the Stormcloaks, they are just two nords living in Windhelm who happen to be racist

For all we know, that captain was a sadist who had no real business being in the post she had. I've no love for her, nor am I condoning her behavior. And I'm not arguing that she presents a bad first impression. That's obvious. But to judge the Legion by her example is what I find blatantly hypocritical.

One of those Nords "just happens" to be Galmar's brother. Like it or not, that makes waves. It bears a certain impression or fosters the one already given. Windhelm is not known to be a bastion of progressivism and in that way, it resonates even more as the home base for the Stormcloak faction.

It means the dragons will come to the Dovahkiin's individual aid, not fight an entire war for them. The whole purpose of the good dragons is that they don't meddle with mortals anymore, and they don't burn down entire villages. It doesn't matter if another mortal wants them to. They wouldn't help.

If you put it this way... in the game if you're in the middle of doing the civil war, and you call for a dragon to assist you in battle, then the dragon will stay and fight until the every one last of your enemy (the red dot on your screen) goes away. So yeah they will stick around until the enemies are dead before they fly off to the distance. The only good dragons we see here are Paarthurnax and Odahviing. Durnehviir is also a good dragon,, however lets hypothetically say that he wanted to become the next Alduin... He's going to have a difficult time getting out of the Soul Carin, which he is stuck there for eternity after being tricked by the Ideal keepers. The only way he can temporary get out is if the dragonborn calls for his name in a form of a shout.

Also, the Dragonborn can easily die in the game settings. He'd need more than a few small factions in Skyrim to defeat the Aldmeri Dominion, if that's what you're insinuating. It's 3 provinces of highly trained and civilized people, and they are not going to be destroyed by the Dragonborn, a few hundred soldiers, and several dragons. As much unity as possible is what is required to do so, and this can only happen if the Empire remains as large as it can.

Of course the Dragonborn can easily die under the game settings. That's why in the game it's best to become friends with the F5 key :) I never said that he was immortal.

The fact is after Bethesda is completely finish with Skyrim by releasing the finial expansion, where you then take the fight against the the Thalmor, The Aldmeri Dominion is going to lose the war no matter which team you're on.

I think you're missing the point here. The Dominion can't be stopped on faith. Every argument I've made in this thread is all about stopping the Dominion. You have no idea how big it is. You can't just storm one hold and then win like you can in Skyrim. The Stormcloaks are racists, or at least their leader is, meaning he's already solidifying the inevitable dislike and hatred from Argonians, Dark Elves, and other pockets of Elven resistance.

Dude you realize that this is a game, right? I don't care how big the Dominion is.. Their going to lose no matter what in the next great war. As far as the Stormcloaks being racists... well my friend that is your opinion. Not once have I seen a Stormcloak soldier trashing another race. Perhaps you did? If so please send me a video clip so I can see it for myself.

That being said, I am nowhere trying to say the Dominion shouldn't be stopped. I'm saying the notion that the Stormcloaks can somehow muster enough power and 'unite' all of Tamriel and defeat them is delusional. Argonia won't help, Valenwood and Elsweyr can't help, High Rock and Cyrodiil will probably refuse to help, and Hammerfell isn't enough.

The only way to find out for sure is if we wait for the final expansion then we will see, eh? :)

So then the lieutenant at the execution is just a solider that happens to be axe crazy. Both of your arguments are invalid, and we're back to square one.

I'd like to point out about Elswyer...the only reason they're loyal is because the Dominion claims to have restored the moons. If they're proven liars, they're gonna have a lot of angry cats out for blood :-)

Here is what happened between Hadvar and that captain:
Hadvar: He/She is not on the list, what do we do?
Captain: Kill him/her anyways
Hadvar: Alright

Here is what people believe happened:
Hadvar: Captain, he/she is not on the list, Killing him/her might hurt our position more than it would help.
Captain: Skyrim Needs us, kill him/her.
Hadvar: *sigh* alright.

See the difference?

Well, Hadvar clearly isn't happy about it, but orders are orders. And when all hell breaks loose, he does everything to help you. I personally look at him and Rikke as the best of the Legion.

Gotta love that Tullius sarcastic remark about how you being imprisoned was a "terrible" mistake. What kind of garbage is the Empire bringing to Skyrim anyways? And in fact that their legionaries are murdering families on top of it.

There was fair enough reason to execute the prisoner anyway... Somebody who has broken a rule, who wasn't backed up as a non-Stormcloak, and who might have

This post is a whole mind fluff of contradictions.

Firstly, that is an in-game feature. It's mechanics are not supposed to reflect what actually happens. In the Elder Scrolls Universe, you can die with one hit of a dagger. We don't play like that, because it's not exciting or fair for most people. The game itself doesn't mean it will take several hits from an axe for a mage to fall on the battlefield. Likewise, the summoned Dragons are also invincible when they attack, because it's a shout, not a summoned atronarch. You have no idea how weak a Dragon actually is in the grand scheme of things. The Dragonborn isn't any more adept at slaying a Dragon than any other member of the Blades. All he can do is eat their soul. Any Dragon that would charge headstrong into a huge army, if such a confrontation were to exist, would be shot down in less than a minute.

And no, the Dominion does NOT have to win the war. The next game could be set any period of time after now, or any period of time before. You simply can't base your arguments off of the self-proclaimed 'facts' that you make up. We could be playing a game set 100 years from now, and all of Tamriel but Black Marsh might be under Dominion control, and it might be our job to overthrow them.
