Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

Well, it depends. I always played with two diferent builds since Morrowind. A Breton Mage (pure mage) and a warrior as the major race of the game (Morrowind: Dunmer Oblivion: Imperial Skyrim: Nord). I'd say that playing as Nord in Skyrim is impossible to join the Imperial because you feel as they are taking your homeland, sided with the elves. But in the other hand, playing as a non-nord race it becomes impossible to join the stormcloaks since they are racists and treat any other race (elven, cat, lizard or non-nord human) as trash. I think the Imperials are a little bit better than the stormcloaks, but none of them are good people after all.

The way Stormcloacks talk about religion and honor, they practically sound like Al Queda.

When they die they obviously won't get those 72 virgins like what AL Queda strongly believe in, however in Skyrim world going to Sovngarde and meeting people like Ysgramor, Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, Hakon One-Eye, and Felldir the Old along with Jurgen Windcaller, Olaf One-Eye, and Ulfgar the Unending is a great honor, especially having the chance to sit down next to Shor at the dinner table.

Hall of Valor open in the afterlife to all Nords who prove their mettle or die valiantly in battle.

Or the Nords who fought and died for them.

No kidding - very many people of many races fought and died in the Great War. No one's arguing that. And that's why to suggest that the Imperials (both race and faction) are lazy or lacking courage is unfair. The desire of those you meet in game is to regain enough strength and recoup enough resources to finally destroy the Dominion, and ultimately restore what was lost. That which can be restored, of course.

You missed most of your homework, half metal. The Nords of Skyrim fight for freedom from religious persecution, not for the establishment of a State religion. Someone feel free to correct me if I've missed something, but I have seen no lore indicating persecution of those who choose to worship other than Talos.

There is the fundamental difference in your Al Queda analogy. You would have been more accurate in comparing them to Colonial Americans...who also practiced discrimination if you recall. I'll point out that you've never seen me represent either side as perfect.

Ultimately, this will boil down to right or wrong being according to the individual player's beliefs and observations.

Not in dispute, but there are people suffering now. The purpose of an army is to protect...as long as citizens are being kidnapped and tortured by agents of an outside government, somebody is not doing their job.

It's known by fact that the Nords can handle pressure much better than the Imperials. Rikke (A Nord) admitted that Tullius (Imperial) has given up, but she hasn't. Perhaps if the Empire went back to being run by Nords then maybe the Empire would triple their strength, and the Dominion would actually struggle to defeat them in battle.

Raijin, come on now...why are we having this very same discussion yet again?

Seriously, a Tullius who couldn't handle pressure wouldn't be sitting there looking chill as a winter night. He'd either have skipped town altogether, or he'd be flailing and screaming. He's a pragmatist and saw the writing on the wall. He did pick up his blade as soon as Rikke took to fighting, so he didn't just sit and watch the whole time.

As far as what race should be in control of what, good GOD that's a slippery slope lol.

Again, no one finds the terms ideal. And once again, Ulfric is to be thanked for the stepped up agitation and violence perpetrated by the Thalmor. With the Empire turning a blind eye to Talos worship, it was incumbent upon the Thalmor to jump on a reason to more deliberately patrol Skyrim. Ulfric was that reason.

Though for all of the talk of such persecution, it's curious that Heimskr still goes on his rants in the middle of Whiterun unharmed, the Talos statue is in broad view there and in other cities...it seems Bethesda could have made the persecution much more explicit and widespread to drive home that point.

At the of the day, the Concordat was another exercise in Thalmor-style proxy warfare. Their instigation has already greatly soured relations between the Empire and Hammerfell (though many Redguards do fight in the Legion still), and now it has moved its campaign to Skyrim. Don't be fooled, it's a carefully plotted chess game, one in the works for years - especially given that the AD Elves comparatively have lifetimes to concoct schemes.

Unfortunately, a great deal of the people arguing for the Stormcloaks don't know much about lore. Like at all. You don't know what happened in the great war, you don't know that multiple races fought in it, not just Nords, you don't know that the WGC is what saved humanity from being enslaved, you don't know that Ulfric Stormcloak's actions will sever any relationship with foreign nations, and you don't know that 'honor' isn't a fair reason.

But I do know that IN-GAME ima go for the underdogs 2/3's of the time. Too bad no way to form your own rebellion with the Forsworn.

Then tell me exactly what IS a "fair" reason.

I agree with 123. He made a point I forgot in my post. With Ulfric as High King, Skyrim would be alone in any political and comercial situation and anyone knows what happens to any "country" closed to the rest of the "world"
