Anyway, I kind of feel the need to give my two cents on the subject of Talos, which is oh-so-able to inspire fights and death threats (this kind of passion over a video game really shows how great the Elder Scrolls is).

I don't think Talos is a god. Never have. I think the original Eight are gods, but not Talos. He was a man, a very brave and powerful one at that, but a god he is not.

But, whether or not he is truly a god, the Thalmor have no right to outlaw worship of him. Regardless of whether or not they "recognize him as a god," they cannot outlaw worship of him. As I said above, I could worship a talking tree named Harold if I wanted to, and no one could tell me otherwise.

So, short story shorter: I don't think Talos is a god. The Thalmor don't either. The difference is that they've forced their disbelief onto the Empire.

The elves: Bad.
Men: Victims.
Argonians: Awesome.

They do. Lore states that all elves EXCEPT DUNMER see what Lorkhan did as foul trickery, and therefore hate him. So the Dunmer don't hate Lorkhan, and are therefore hated by Thalmor.

Because certain Nord Legates and Orc Stormcloaks kill you by the bushel. You don't have the right to do anything, if you don't have the strength to back it up. Maybe send more than three elves out on a kidnap-and-torture patrol, and you may not have such trouble with the inferior locals.
