@Telleroftales been meaning to ask, is it like, super obvious that Solun is ex-legion? Or is it just that Alice knows what to look for. @Simus I guess the question would apply to you too. I imagine a legion sword is not too hard to get these days.
 
Well, Alice and her father Simus have been fighting in both armies for the better part of eight years now and Simus is a First Great War veteran. So Alice knows what to look for and can’t not see it at this point. That’s why she’s been doing her best to protect Solun’s cover. Especially since she just destroyed her own. And no, a Legion gladius would not be hard to find these days. I like to think the Stormcloaks snapped up as much legion gear as they could and maybe even started making their own. I mean, c’mon. You get most of it at level 1 lol. Which is actually pretty representative of real world military equipment in some cases.

It's not super obvious, no. A trained soldier, like Alice, Liudolf, and probably Allesan could probably spot it, if they were paying attention. Solun is used to leading men, but what he experienced during the Long Retreat means he's more than a little traumatized. He doesn't want to be in the situation he's in now, and he definitely doesn't feel he's suited to be leading the group, he just thinks he has to be the one to do so. And don't worry, I have some gnarly situations planned where this will definitely end up biting him in the ass later on.

As for legion gear, you and Simus are absolutely right; old imperial arms and armour aren't hard to come by. Black market dealers, scavengers, and smugglers still deal in imperial weaponry and armour, while the Stormcloaks have cannibilized legion gear in an effort to form a more uniform military. Don't forget, there are legion remnants everywhere either as desperate bandit groups, or more disciplined forces, located in hidden camps. (Something that will also be making an appearance a little later on.)
 
Well thank you for the responses guys. Will write it as Sothas not having much of a clue, but Aylira will definitely be suspicious. Not because she's a trained soldier or anything, she's just suspicious of everyone.
 
So my plan for Alice is to have her be alive but unconscious and unresponsive for a time. This fight was an extremely close brush with death for her. As in she was stone dead for a couple of minutes and Beren’s prayer to Arkay restored her to life. The way you wrote it @Rafen was basically divine magic chest compressions and I really enjoyed the imagery. So, just like chest compressions in our world it’s enough to save her life but it’s a long way from her getting up and moving. Maybe Beren could take her inside and enchant her sickbed to keep her alive until she can recover. The divine magic equivalent of a ventilator. I have an idea for a dark, twisted dreamworld Alice has to get through before she can fully come back. Her way of processing what Liudolf did to her and all the trauma it brought back. Does that sound okay?

Okay, so I'm okay with everything you've posted, @Simus but I was wondering if we could perhaps have Alice in a type of bier so that she can 'recover' perhaps watched over by Beren (@Rafen ?) as the group begins to move out in the morning. I do like the idea of Alice being too out of it for the next little while until they get to Markarth? Sooner, preferably, but totally up to you.
 
Yeah, that sounds good @Telleroftales! Had to look up what a bier was and that was exactly what I was thinking. She’s alive but so weak that Beren gives her last rites and sets her up in a cozy funeral litter just in case. Maybe even contacts her family in Whiterun. And yes, he or someone else is going to need to watch over her and carry her to Markarth because she’s not walking any time soon.
 
I kind of feel like I wrote myself into a corner by having Katrina flee to the nearest bolt hole when things looked like they might get dicey. Can't for the life of me figure out how to bring her out without being ridiculously out of character. :confused:
 
Hmm...I actually have an idea that might help you out, if you're interested. I was going to have Solun go for a walk, but I think it'll work better if Katrina is the one to do so, and help her interact with the rest of the group. I'll message you the details in a bit, and you can decide if you want to go through with it.
 
You could also have Katrina come look for Alice out of simple curiosity. It's very clear that Katrina doesn't trust or feel comfortable around Alice and doesn't feel any easier getting to know her over anyone else. But she does seem to have pegged Alice as someone interesting to watch. Maybe she could find out what's happened, either through her own discovery or by someone telling her. Then finding Alice to simply see what happens. You might not like the idea but I just thought I'd help.

I'm working on a post now and it's kind of a weird one. Alice is having quite the near death experience and she's really gonna have to think about weather she wants to come back. She'll have a brief moment of consciousness to let Beren know she's not dead and to communicate a couple of dying wishes but other than that she'll be trapped in her own head until probably Markarth.
 
Thanks, @Simus that might be in my next post. She's definitely not going to be trusting anyone, but she will note Alice's absence and probably seek her out, just because she's that thorough. @Telleroftales I hope I didn't go too far with Katrina's reaction to that painting on the wall.
 
Wow. That's quite the post. Gotta say Alice's story tugs on the ol' heartstrings. And it looks like Beren might have more patients by the end of the night if Aylira and Liudolf can't settle things peacefully.
 
Glad you liked it. Having Alice meet her clone from another timeline and completely losing her plops was a fun challenge and in my opinion quite believable. Having them go from arguing over who’s a clone of who to having lunch and getting smashed on wine together made me laugh. And their dead mother reuniting with and lovingly accepting both of them may or may not have made me cry.

I’m also quite tempted to have someone blow the whistle on Liudolf and have the Psyrakon menfolk show up for a “discussion” but I’m not sure how to do that. Would be funny though. Alice’s husband might be a skinny little dweeb who loves lists and numbers but he drinks a LOT of milk! Plus her dad and brother would back him up and they’re pretty good at fighting.
