Was this choice good or was it evil.

WHo's hatin'? I revel in it, just don't try to tell me it's Talos' will. Sure, he can lay down Wrath with a Vengance, but he sure don't make pacts with Mehrunes Dagon for Daedra Hearts, and lots of XP, then try to tell you it was for the greater good.

what you talking about, Talos making pacts with Dagon wtf would he do that. hes a god no some lowly daedric dog of a prince.

I dont have the manpower to watch over 3 locations (was it 3 or 4), I made a choice, let it stay in parts or have it peiced together and protect it with higher security, protecting one peice in one location is much easyer than protecting a few peices in diffrent locations. for example

3 peices in diffrent locations
1 location 33% security
2 location 33% security
3 location 33% security

1 peice in one location
1 location 100% security

(I know there is a percent missing from above)
You need all 4 peices (The shards of the blade, hilt, scabbard, and pommel.) All of them are protected, though the shards in Cracked Tusk keep are about the most vulnerable. So, watch that, or take them, and keep them in a better place. Face it, you wanted to do it, for whatever reason, and Talos' Will had nothing to do with it. No ammount of rationalizin is going to change every single word Mehrunes said to you. It's not even skippable dialog, is monologue, weren't you listening?

Look, man, you asked if it was Good, or Evil. You have your answer, it wasn't bad, or a little naughty. Certainly wasn't good, so...

Look, if some guy walked up to you, regardless of what he looked like, and said he had to sacrifice a stranger to the devil because it was Gods will, or Allahs, or Budda's, or the Dali Fikkin Lama's, you'd back away slowly, and probably start dialing. That's what you sound like to me.

He's got you there, Shadow King. You could have just guarded the shards as well as the whole dagger.

But at the same time, Kyleekay is right. I certainly pretend people say things to me that they simply didn't (mostly because game dialogue is limited...). Going forward from where I am now, I'm going to have to pretend people just didn't say anything whenever they comment on something related to the Dovahkiin, because it's not part of my role playing and I'm just doing it because the game wouldn't let me continue the civil war quest line until I killed the dragon outside whiterun. (actually, I don't know that for sure. My quest log told me so, but I haven't given the dragon stone to farengar yet... Maybe I should check with tullius first). Coming up with a rationalization isn't inexcusable, but imho it does make for a better roleplay if you stick as close as possible to what happened. Maybe this is a wake up call to your character that he's not perfect. He'll never live up to Talos (or at least his version of Talos). Maybe that leads him down a dark path, maybe it leads him to resolve to try harder.

Just remember that you're telling this story, not us. What you want to happen happens, and it doesn't matter what we say. I find a roleplay to be more engrossing when not everything works out the way you want, personally, but everyone's experience is different.

EDIT: "isn't inexcusable," my bad.

A good moral rule of thumb: If you find yourself questioning, rationalizing or otherwise explaining an action to yourself..it was probably a pretty crummy action.

Aiding Dagon for any reason is "bad". Even if the motivation is "but he's got stuff I want!!". Bad. Bad. Go to your room with no dragon souls tonight.

ESPECIALLY if it's "but he's got stuff I want!"

We actually talked about this in Social Psychology today at my university. Go google up the term "Dissonance" and you will have reason. :3

More preferably, check out Cognitive Dissonance for accuracy.

I just kept giving dagon negative replys, yea its four thanks for verifying that, Talos gave my character the vision so how can u say its not his will? if I did not do the Dagon quest he would have got someone else to get the razor, and I know when u normaly do a daedric quest u somewhat belong to the daedra, but not in this case, because I belong to Talos, u think a lowly prince can argue with a god, Dagon can kiss my ass;) I work for a god. Talos sent me for the razor, he did not send me to kill silus, but I wanted to kill silus because, he made a museum to the mythic dawn. the mythic dawn wiped out the septims, (martin got killed because the mythic dawn got dagon out to play) silus ancestors are mythic dawn and he is proud of it, proud his ancestors ended the Septim bloodline, my actions killing him are noble and good because, he promoted an evil organization that stopped Tiber Septims bloodline of emperors. of what I am aware silus is the last supporter/member of the mythic dawn, now there is none. (besides Dagon)

And I did say I roleplayed that to get to his loot but also because there is little daedra for me to kill in Skyrim, to get the dremoras at the shrine I need to do the quest so I can keep goin back and killing them from time to time. better for my roleplay to kill evil daedra.

this is a game that i am roleplaying has nothing to do with real life

Right, so you can have a full suit of Daedric Armor, and weapons. Ask me if I'm surprised, go ahead ask me. Hael nah, so it was motivated by Power. There's a shocker! I even pointed it out a few posts back. "Oh no, it was all Talos' will, he gave me a vision," tap tap tap on the workbench, "No, I'm the good guy, really!"

"Why doesn't anyone trust me?"

wtf u talking about? How can i have a set of daedric armor if im roleplaying a good guy I cant.

I wouldnt say my attitude changed, its just i never use daedric armor or weapons obviously the only evil item i have touched is the razor and i stated the reasons i done that.

Define evil item. Explain why a style of armor/weapon automatically confirms it as "evil", especially if you had to kill evil things to make it.

Daedric hearts come from Daedra, Daedra are evil, you kill a Daedra take a Daedra heart, the heart is evil because of course there is still some Daedric essence or power in the heart, if u make armor or a weapon with a Daedric heart, the armor/weapon becomes an evil object because that essence has been bound to the armor/weapon.

I could be wrong but thats how I see it.

But would you not use that weapon to kill innocents? Only evil? Its an impasse to what you use an item for, no matter its creation. If you make something that was made out of evil things to kill more evil things, does that make it good?
