Yeah, that. But because it comes so late in the game, I like a few others. The Imperial Kite Shield actually covers remarcably well for Deflect Arrows. You can still get hit, but it's a noticable improvement over any of the round ones, and comes in both light/heavy versions. Spellbreaker stops Dragonbreath cold, and can be used with Ward Absorb to recover magicka from enemy spells. The Blades Shield is light, Steel Smithable, and rather attractive...

The Shield of Solitude has a unique Magic Resistance Enchantment that you can stack with the regular on with Extra Effect. With Elemental Protection, you can actually exceed the cap, even as a non-Breton. It takes up a lot of slots you could use for something else, though.

The Shield of Ysgrammor is ginormus, so probably second to the Imperial Kites for Deflect Arrows, and Fortifies Block with up to 30%Magic Resistance. This makes it another good choice for maximum protection, but it's still not as good as the Targe. That's Bleeding damage, combined with Deadly Bash makes it a decent weapon. I have entire builds around it as the only weapon, or at least the melee sidearm. A combo with that, and either Fire (Wall of Flames/cloak) and/or Hack&Slash stacks up to significant DoT, so they keep dieing while you're turtled up, and stunlocking them with bashes. It's a slow combat stile, but relentless, and there's not much that can hurt you. (Doesn't work very well on Flame Atronach, because they don't bleed, and are immune to Fire, though.) For the ultimate, Flame Cloak, Ebony Mail, Ancestor's Wrath, an Ebony War Axe of Burning/Firey Soul Trap, and Storn Lingering Poison. If it bleeds, you can kill it, rather quickly, in fact.

Try this for Shield of spell-check .. .. .. :D

... someone already quoted that.

I'm going with Shield of Ysgramor. Though I wish when I put it up on a shield rack, it didn't turn slightly to the side. It looks off because of it.

I have an Imperial who's supposed to be half Imperial/Nord and goes by the name Cornelia Ancient-Shield because she's known for carrying Ysgramor's shield. I want to know how Ysgramor wielded Wuuthrad AND his shield.

One can obviously predict I would pick the Ebony Shield. I got one specially smithed and enchanted. (Black Legion Shield - Legendary + 40% Chance of blocking and 25% Resistance to magic)

This is what makes Ysgrammor such a smokin' brassballed superlative fellow.

This made me feel so smart, and boosted my confidence.

Even though I don't use shields, I give shields to my followers and would have to go with Glass, based purely on looks :P

If Ysgrammor had a battle-axe and a shield, does he use them both?

On topic: I like the elven shield and also the orcish shield for aesthetic reasons, also the shields the Dawnguard use look nice

I like the Solitude guard shield, since it has a Wolf head on it. Or the Windhelm one because of the bear.

Taking back my earlier words, because I now use shields. :D

Favourite? My recently acquired Shield of Solitude. It's pretty (really like the wolf) and has nice bonuses.

Spellbreaker cobined with Windshear is the most OP combination in game as no matter who you're fighting with you can block his attacks and come close enough to attack him with Windshear and it is Game Over for him.
