Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

The Magic is the Dragonborn. ;) the empire can't win without the Dragonborn either remember.
Game wise yes the DB is needed for either sides victory. Strategy wise the Stormies don't stand a snowballs chance in Hammerfell.

Torygg had the chance to back out, He didn't. Ulfric killed him to prove a point, that he was weak. Granted he was a young man not a seasoned warrior. Sybille Stentor, says that he would have considered it not actually done it. Do I think Ulfric could have done things differently yes. Torygg did have a high opinion of Ulfric.

If he had he would have forfeited his right as High King.
Instead of letting his King consider a way out that would have saved countless lives he chose to challenge him and begin the bloodbath of his Ambition.

Ulfric has nothing to do with how much the Argonians are paid he doesn't EMPLOY them Torbjorn Shatter-Shield does. And you can convince him to raise their pay. So trying to blame Ulfric for someone else's actions is sad at best. Let it be know that Scouts-Many-Marshes does say that Ulfric did ban them from the city. But we have no reason as to this.
The reason is they're Argonians.
Have you talked to Brunwulf Free-Winter after he is named Jarl?

The Dunmer in Windhelm are another story. They live in a slum of their own making. The Winter Quarter that later became know as the Grey Quarter was actually a nice place to live before they came along. They refused to integrate into the Nord culture in Windhelm, the city that Ysgamor built. The effective beating heart of Skyrim's culture. Yeah the locals would be pissed about it. Instead of building a a Tavern, Inn or Mead Hall they built a Corner Club. Instead of trying to adapt to the local Nords in Skyrim, they acted like they were still in Morrowind and expected the Nords to adapt to them. They hate the Nords as much the the Nords hate them. Niranye is treated just fine and she is an Altmer which is worse because she could be a Thalmor in disguse. She even says that's it's the Dunmer's fault they are living the way that they are. The Dunmer are treated better in every other place in Skyrim because they act differently.

It was the Snow Quarter.
So abandon your Culture and you can be equals. Well thats fair and fun isn't it.

He told the Aldmeri Dominion the information under duress. He was being tortured, kind of hard to you know...not give that information away. I see no false pretenses that he challenged Torygg under. Solitude loved Torygg, he just killed him in open combat I doubt the local populace would like that very much. Even if they though it was justified they still would have called for his head, If Elisif didn't do it first. They saw a seasoned warrior kill a young man to them it was murder.

Whiterun is under siege sieges are messy affairs. Windhelm then the Imperials siege it they siege it by sending "balls of Fire hurtling into a town filled with innocents", innocents die in war all the time it's not nice or fair but hey war isn't fair. Where is your concern for the "oppressed" Dunmer of Windhlem then? Or is it justified because Ulfric is in the city? The Empire broke their oath to Ulfric first by saying that he and his men could worship Talos then going back on their word. Then imprisoning him for it.

He broke and spilled his guts to the Thalmor, and is named an "asset" to them.
You see no false pretenses but Half of Skyrim does...they wouldn't have slain him outright if he had yielded, there would have been trial he could have stated his Old Ways bs...but he ran to a place where the Solitude Guards couldn't touch him.
As for the Fireballs yeah I realize they attack Windhelm with Catapults...fight fire with fire yeah?
The Markarth incident was between Igmund and Ulfric not the Empire and Ulfric. Ulfric merely went against the WGC as an instigation

I doubt this, they would call him a coward submitting to the elves without a fight.
So you think if you have little chance at victory you might as well not fight? Yet you still back the Stormies, who have little to no resources and no chance at winning the Civil War.

Even with a Military Weakness, and the supposed strength of the Dominion the Empire still brought the war to a standstill. Made the AD seek peace and retook the Imperial City. Titus Mede fought bravely at the Battle of the Red Ring wielding Goldbrand, what does Ulfric do? He storms Solitude after the Auxiliary Legion has been weakened by the DB, kills the NORD guardsmen. and what weapon does he prefer? A Steel Axe of Cowardice...how fitting.

I never called Titus Mede II a coward. You must be talking to someone else. Mede II is not a coward but a fool and a disgrace. He's very much like Adlof Hitler by refusing to listen to his Generals, and so he lost the war as a result. All the blood that was spread during the Great war is on his hands. The Aldmeri Dominion eventually got what they wanted, or maybe a little bit more due to this mans ruthless decision. It's the Thalmors way of punishing him.

As for your accusation of the Stormcloaks having little to no resources to win the Civil war... you couldn't be more wrong even if you try hard enough to be right.

The chat transcript taken during Joining the Legion Questline.
Rikke: "I'm telling you, Ulfric's planning an attack on Whiterun."
Tullius: "He'd be insane to try. He doesn't have the men."
Rikke: "That's not what my scouts report, sir. Every day more join his cause. Riften, Dawnstar, and Winterhold support him."

PLUS
0:17 the Legate tells the Dragonborn "Sadly, the Empire's stretched a little thin these days, and we've gotten very few reinforcements, so we've been forced to recruit locally.

This clearly indicates that Ulfrics resources are becoming rather strong and more dominating then the Empire of Skyrim.

As far as his Steel Axe of Cowardice... What about it? It's an enchanted weapons that causes his enemies to flee him for a lengthy of time. What's the big deal of his Axe? Because of the name? I've read so many pro imperials posts that tries to use his axe to call him a coward or use "How fitting" A typical weak statement since Ulfric accepted his death while Tullius pleaded for his life, and wanted to surrender. Who's the coward now huh?

Riften is the only hold that matters and Most the wealth in Riften is controlled by Maven an Imperial supporter who only benefits from Imperial rule. . What do the others have? Nothing they wouldn't even make a full town if put together.
Whereas the Imperials have Solitude wealthy as hell, Markarth (while yes most the Mines are controlled by the Silver-Bloods they can't send silver to Windhelm, it'd be near impossible). Whiterun, the trading hub of Skyrim also pretty wealthy. Morthal, isn't much at all equal to dawnstar. Falkreath, holds the Pale Pass, where supplies from the Empire can be sent through. Do I need to list the resources Cyrodiil has?
Who do the Stormies have to support them? No one...oh wait I forgot...The Thalmor...

Yes I said "they" not meaning you specifically but the Stormy Supporters as a whole. Lost the War....you and I must differ greatly and the definition of "peace treaty" . Compare him to someone besides Hitler if you would as that's only going to lead to people refuting that Ulfric's' racist xenophobia befits the comparison better. I know you weren't comparing his "policies" but his choice not to listen to his generals but still... there are others to compare him to, this will only lead to trouble.

If he had agreed to the terms first the Blades would still be dead...what is he to do then? say "No biggie we got more" ? even so, Ulfric would still rebell if he is truly fighting to restore the worship of Talos. The events leading up to and The Civil War itself are not likely to change either way.
The Thalmor would still be in Tamriel, probably more so as they would still have an army in Tamriel. Mede obliterated said army, in the Great War.

Game wise yes the DB is needed for either sides victory. Strategy wise the Stormies don't stand a snowballs chance in Hammerfell.

So why did the rebellion drag on for as long as it did? Ulfric served in the Legion he knows their tactics. Ulfric was ambushed with a small guard and order his men to stand down rather than be slaughtered around him.

If he had he would have forfeited his right as High King.
Instead of letting his King consider a way out that would have saved countless lives he chose to challenge him and begin the bloodbath of his Ambition.

Torygg might have given up his seat as High king if he lost but would the Empire have let Torygg break from the Empire? I rather doubt it. Ulfric killed him to prove that he was too weak to rule Skyrim nothing more. Torygg had the chance to break from the Empire when a man he greatly repected was in prison for wanting to Worship Talos something he did in secret. The empire would has done the same to Ulfric. They sent him to be executed rather than a trail. So much for the vaunted "laws and justice" of the Empire. Ulfric doesn't execute any Jarls for simply not following him into his rebellion, he just takes their cities.

The reason is they're Argonians.
Have you talked to Brunwulf Free-Winter after he is named Jarl?

You are taking the exact word of someone who hated him. That's like asking my ex-girlfriends why I broke up with them. :D There is no reason other than they are Argonians? If that was the only reason why haven't the Dunmer been thrown out of the city yet? And don't give me the crap answer of because it's appearances or some other such nonsense because if he expelled the Argonians then he could have done the same to the Dunmer.

It was the Snow Quarter.
So abandon your Culture and you can be equals. Well thats fair and fun isn't it.

Life is not fair and only seldom fun. They were welcomed as refugees and over time the Nords became bitter, it didn't happen overnight. And Yes I think that when you emigrate to another country or place you need to adapt to the locals in order to fit in and be a liked member of the community. (the only exception being Utah) Sorta like how you should learn to speak English if you move to the US or the UK, French if you move to France, German if you move to Germany and Mandarin if you move to China. If you don't then people resent you for it. The Nords gave the Dunmer Solstheim as a new place for their culture what makes you think they want it in their oldest city?

You see no false pretenses but Half of Skyrim does...they wouldn't have slain him outright if he had yielded, there would have been trial he could have stated his Old Ways bs...but he ran to a place where the Solitude Guards couldn't touch him.

Half of Skyrim is seeded with Imperial propaganda like the other half with Stormcloak's, most of the people in Solitude have no idea what really happened but believe that Torygg was killed in cold blood. So how could Ulfric think that he would have gotten a fair trail there? He challenged Torygg, killed him and called for Skyrim to be free that 3 other Jarls heeded and 4 didn't. One stayed put and refused to allow his people to be sucked into a war. Hence the stalemate.

The Markarth incident was between Igmund and Ulfric not the Empire and Ulfric. Ulfric merely went against the WGC as an instigation

I never said it wasn't but the Empire imprisoned him not Igmund. As for the instigation for going against the WGC who wouldn't a bunch of Nazi Elves telling the Nords what to do?

Whiterun, the trading hub of Skyrim also pretty wealthy.

Whiterun is neutral until Ulfric sends the ax Balgruuf even says so, or did you miss that part? I guess so...

Falkreath, holds the Pale Pass, where supplies from the Empire can be sent through. Do I need to list the resources Cyrodiil has?

Sure why not since most of them are tied up defending the southern border from the Dominion.

So much for his Death or Glory reputation eh?

Why wouldn't the Empire let Skyrim leave, They let Hammerfell, they let Black Marsh. Hell they let Elsweyr and Valenwood!

Then ask the argonians, or are they biased to what with being Argonian and all.

He wouldn't have been judged by the people, I believe he would have been judged by the Jarls....not sure though.

Aye the Empire had no choice he broke the WGC a treaty Skyrim agreed to, it was imprison Ulfric or see what the AD would do , which would not have bode well for Skyrim. and again please no Nazi talk, as yes the thalmor with their "master race" bs are the closest, but the Stormcloaks aren't far behind...

Whiterun is neutral however it goes to the Empire, besides even without Whiterun the Imperials are still leaps and bounds ahead of the Stormies and where Balgruuf might allow trade with the Empire do you really think he'll be unbiased when it comes to trading with a man he despises?

The legions are on the Border, not the food and grains in Anvil,Kvatch...etc. These are just an added bonus a reserve to fall upon. A safety net so to speak something the Stormies are lacking.

Well as much as I'd love to stay and debate politics in a fictitious world, It seems real life has reared it's head. I must depart :D. I enjoyed our bout of verbal text fisticuffs.
I'll be sure to resume this discussion if an other Imperial supporter hasn't crushed you by then, :D

Why wouldn't the Empire let Skyrim leave, They let Hammerfell, they let Black Marsh. Hell they let Elsweyr and Valenwood.

None of those left the Empire peacefully. Hammerfell had to leave because they didn't accept the WGC. When that happened the Jarls had to be bought off, Black Marsh split off because of the Oblivion Crisis same as Morrowind when the red mountain erupted. Valenwood and Elswery were taken over by the Aldmeri Dominion. Hardly a list of peace secession.

Have fun with RL stuff, I have to go as well because I need to finish up some homework.

Titus Mede II was not a pacifist man that you're picturing him out to be. When Titus Mede II ascended the throne in 4E 168, he inherited a weakened empire. Emperor Titus Mede had only a few short years to consolidate his rule before his leadership was put to the ultimate test.

The War Begins
On the 30th of Frostfall, 4E 171, the Aldmeri Dominion sent an ambassador to the Imperial City with a gift in a covered cart and an ultimatum for the new Emperor. The long list of demands included staggering tributes, disbandment of the Blades, outlawing the worship of Talos, and ceding large sections of Hammerfell to the Dominion. Despite the warnings of his generals of the Empire's military weakness, Emperor Titus Mede II rejected the ultimatum. The Thalmor ambassador upended the cart, spilling over a hundred heads on the floor: every Blades agent in Summerset and Valenwood. And so began the Great War which would consume the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion for the next five years according to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Great_War_(book)

This man that you cherish so much by essentially saying that hes full of honor and backs up his people 100% is a just an emotional opinion of yours, and not actual fact. You protest the idea that Ulfric Stormcloak only cares about his name in songs, but who wanted to show Tamriel on that tragic that day the length of his penis? It was Titus Mede II with his poor decisions that caused the Great war. Even his General warned him about his military weakness, and he carelessly rejected the ultimatum anyways thus further angering the Almderi Dominion. He finally came to his senses after seeing his men clinging to death.

Now let's take this into a perception :) Had Titus Mede II signed the ultimatum the first round I would be right beside him. I would be an Imperial supporter, not Stormcloak. I would've acknowledge what a great man Titus Mede II was by understanding the strengths and weaknesses of his Empire by listening to the very same people that he employed to ensure the safety of his country and his Empire. I too would be saying that Ulfric is a douche bag for creating this army when Titus Mede II had no other choice but to sign it thus preventing the Great war to happen. I cannot do this because Titus Mede II is in fact a war lord, not a peaceful Emperor that you picture him out to be.

Yes Titus Mede II had some gold shining moments when he captured the Thalmor general, but all of this could've very well had been preventive had Titus mede II heed the warnings from his Generals.

That is just laughable. Your entire argument against the Empire since day one has been because they surrendered. You would stand by the Empire had it not fought? LOL. I'm sorry, but that is highly unlikely, because it is mentioned why the terms weren't accepted first round, in that very book you're quoting.

However, there is a great difference between agreeing to such terms under the mere threat of war, and agreeing to them at the end of a long and destructive war. No part of the Empire would have accepted these terms in 4E 171, dictated by the Thalmor at swords-point. Titus II would have faced civil war. By 4E 175, most of the Empire welcomed peace at almost any price.

You're making a biased assumption as to why he chose peace, it is mentioned why he went for peace. To give the Empire time to regain strength and fight again.

Emperor Mede is not the one fighting in Skyrim, Gereal Tallius is and he gives up, says nothing and dies like a dog at the end. Rikke does the fighting the good general just sits there. Ulfric at least stands up and fights to the death. As for killing the Nord guardsmen during the battle for Solitiute what did you expect him to do just let them kill his own troops and himself? Yeah that's a wonderful battle plan just ignore the men trying to kill us and only focus on the Legion just because they are from the same place as we are. o_O

Tullius actually does fight, the second Rikke is attacked, he jumps up to her defense, he even takes his death rather well. His last words are "So be it" Tullius isn't a coward, but he isn't a Nord, Ulfric has to fight to the death or he won't be allowed into Sovngarde. And Ulfric doesn't fight to the death completely, he is on his knee until either you or Tullius kills him, just the same as Tullius. Both Ulfric and General Tullius are sitting down when you enter their Castle/Palace.

When I fought Uflric he and Gulmar got up to kill me. Tullius sits there and gets his head cut off, while Rikke dies with Honor. What would make for a better song in the mead hall? An Imperial General killing Ulfric or The Dragonborn skriking his head from shoulders? The Dragonborn is much better for a story you have to admit at least that. He's fighting to FREE Skyrim and has accepted that Nord blood HAS to be spilled to do this, Nords fight in the Legion Nords oppose his Vision of a free Skyrim. If they fight him then they die. The same is true for the Legion if you fight them you die. As for the If you're not with me then you're against me, if he was the way you make him out to be he would have killed or exiled all the dark elves in Windhelm.

Ulfric is far from perfect and anyone saying that he is is an idiot. But to dismiss everything he says or does as BS and to assume he lies and does everything for personal gain is just as wrong.

As again, Tullius does fight until you defeat him. He doesn't just sit there while Rikke is attacked.

Skyrim didn't need bloodshed to be free, it could have left peacefully. High King Torygg was very keen on the idea and he greatly respected Ulfric Stormcloak. A peaceful leaving the Empire, maintaining good relations, why wouldn't the Empire go for it, it still leaves trade open, which is what Skyrim needs the Empire for. They need the food and resources the Empire provides their people.

The Magic is the Dragonborn. ;) the empire can't win without the Dragonborn either remember.

The Legion is doing rather well in Skyrim without the Dragonborn, most of the dead are Stormcloaks who get ambushed by the Legion, there are Stormcloak prisoners everywhere.

Torygg would need the support of Jarls, the Holds in Skyrim are largely independent. He would of needed Ulfric to ask him, which Ulfric never did. They thought he was, when he came to Solitude requesting an Audience with the High King, they all assumed he would have asked Torygg to declare independence. Torygg wasn't weak, he had some martial training but that mattered little since Ulfric used the voice straight off the bat. Which everything conflicts with Ulfric's defense that he killed him with his sword. Torygg implies the shout sent him to Sovngarde and that Ulfric is dishonorable. The loading screen in Skyrim also mentions; The High King of Skyrim, Torygg, was recently killed by Ulfric Stormcloak, who used the ancient power of the Thu'um to nearly shout Torygg to pieces.

The Dunmer issue is recent, ever since Ulfric took the throne of Eastmarch. Jarls before Ulfric, including his father were kind to them. Most of their problems stem from Ulfric Stormcloak's inaction. He ignores their requests, it's not that there is a Racial segregation policy, but basic things. They're called lesser beings because they're not Nords. Hated because they won't fight for the Stormcloaks, whom have mistreated them.

Ulfric cooperated with the Thalmor after the war, when they let him go. After the war, contact was established and he has proven his worth as an asset. The so-called Markarth Incident was particularly valuable from the point of view of our strategic goals in Skyrim, although it resulted in Ulfric becoming generally uncooperative to direct contact.

The Empire never promised Ulfric anything. They were dealing with the aftermath of the Great War.

So why did the rebellion drag on for as long as it did? Ulfric served in the Legion he knows their tactics. Ulfric was ambushed with a small guard and order his men to stand down rather than be slaughtered around him.

The rebellion is dragging on because the Thalmor are keeping Ulfric Stormcloak alive, and they are also aiding the Stormcloaks. The Legion was trying to capture Ulfric many times but "He avoided them like he knew exactly where they were" Or something along those lines, which indicates the Thalmor doing. They were also at Helgan trying to stop the execution, but Raijin will deny it, even when the Thalmor themselves admit to it.

The Empire would of let Skyrim go peacefully, there is no reason to think it wouldn't. Skyrim and the Empire would still be on good terms, there would still be that trade and it would allow the Legions from High Rock to pass safely through Skyrim. Ulfric killing the High King and declaring war on the Western Holds, isn't exactly what the Empire wants. The Legion stepped in to restore order.

Whiterun is neutral until Ulfric sends the ax Balgruuf even says so, or did you miss that part? I guess so...

Sure why not since most of them are tied up defending the southern border from the Dominion.

Balgruuf sends Ulfric his axe in the other version. What Balgruuf meant when he sent his axe was, he would face Ulfric in the old ways, one on one combat if he refused the gesture. Ulfric sent his armies. Balgruuf was willing to challange him.

The Imperial supply lines aren't to the South, but to the North. They're coming from Solitude by boat.

Interesting how this game can offer up such varied experiences for each player. Because whenever I did the final Stormcloak questline mission, Tullius didn't merely sit and get his head chopped off - as soon as Rikke took a strike, he jumped up and fought with everything he had. And, whenever I first completed the Legion's last mission, Ulfric went down in a considerably undignified end - Ice Shout to the face makes wonderful life-sized ice cubes. :D

Also, concerning Niranye being brought up as a character witness for the Dunmer in Windhelm... She's not a Dunmer, and she's not even a run of the mill Altmer. She makes very plain the existence of her formidable ties and more than hints at the benefits of making "the right friends". We find out that she is in pretty deep with Thieves Guild networking. And for all we know, she's a supplier or a networker for the Stormcloaks or someone with those interests. Or Guild associates whom the local Stormcloaks fear.

The point is that her situation is hardly comparable to the experience of the Dark Elves in Windhelm and if anything, she's only unharmed presently (she expresses that things were difficult "at first") because of her ties to the Guild and other unknown parties she only refers to as "the right friends". She's made herself "useful".

Just started a Stormcloak character (a bearded Nord named Bjirdlof), and my thoughts so far:
1) Galmar is a psycho.
2) Ulfric can't be trusted. His assurance that I must never doubt him or Galmar did nothing to reassure me out-of-character. In-character, Bjirdlof begged to be the one to scrub Ulfric's back next bath time.

Also about the Legion needing the Dragonborn, they had Ulfric in line for execution before you joined them. I would say Tullius is quite capable if he was able to capture Ulfric Stormcloak, even with the Thalmor aiding Ulfric.

Which raises another point, if the Empire was so dishonorable in accepting defeat how is it any different in Ulfric's case where he gave up against Tulius' ambush party knowing full well he and his men would be executed?

So a question for your fellow Stormies.

If Titus Mede abandons the Imperial City and many are killed, he is a horrid motherfluffing bastard.

But if Ulfric burns Solitude and Whiterun it's war, and deaths always happen? You guys confuse me really

So why did the rebellion drag on for as long as it did? Ulfric served in the Legion he knows their tactics. Ulfric was ambushed with a small guard and order his men to stand down rather than be slaughtered around him.

WOW! Once again! Titus Mede surrendered. It's disgraceful. He surrendered because he had to.

Ulfric surrenders. It was for his men. I don't get you guys some time

Torygg might have given up his seat as High king if he lost but would the Empire have let Torygg break from the Empire? I rather doubt it. True. If Torrygg tried to break away the Emperor would probably send a Legion to put Skyrim in order.

So now good warriors make good politicians? No I don't think so. Ulfric is a good warrior but definitely not a good politician. Torrygg wasn't roughened up by the Great War now was he?

Drunken is the master of resources, I am really doubtful about the trial part.

You are taking the exact word of someone who hated him. That's like asking my ex-girlfriends why I broke up with them. :D There is no reason other than they are Argonians? And don't give me the crap answer of because it's appearances or some other such nonsense because if he expelled the Argonians then he could have done the same to the Dunmer.

If you don't then people resent you for it. The Nords gave the Dunmer Solstheim as a new place for their culture what makes you think they want it in their oldest city?
Not the Nords, the High King. The way you say it suggests Ulfric and his lackeys gave it

In 4E 16, the High King of Skyrim granted Solstheim to Morrowind to serve as a refuge for the Dunmer, formalizing the island's passing into Dunmer hands.[4] The island passed into the jurisdiction of House Redoran. Also during the early years of the Fourth Era, the House Telvanni wizard Neloth established Tel Mithryn, a settlement grown from fungi brought from Vvardenfell.

Whiterun is neutral until Ulfric sends the ax Balgruuf even says so, or did you miss that part? I guess so...

Whiterun is neutral? I wonder why it's filled with Imperial when I joined the Bear heads

Sure why not since most of them are tied up defending the southern border from the Dominion.[/quote]

The Empire wouldn't of sent a Legion if Skyrim was leaving the Empire peacefully. They would maintain good relations, the only reason the Legion stepped in this Civil War is because Ulfric not only murdered the High King but he declared war on the Western Holds. The Empire does not want to get involved into a conflict, it was Ulfric who wanted war, and bloodshed. He wanted songs and he wanted stories, he especially wanted to become the High King of Skyrim. The Empire would want peace and order restored in Skyrim, it is Ulfric stopping that, he is not allowing the Moot to meet during the war to settle it in the Nordic way. He's also reluctant to go into peaceful negotiations because it'll make him appear weak.

Peace = Weak in his mind. That is not a good trait in a leader of a nation that is surrounded by Provinces that now hate them.

As for trials, it's an amusing concept. Skyrim has been a part of two Empires, trials are an Imperial thing. High Rock has them apparently, so does Cyrodiil, Skyrim would probably reject trials in the sense of a Court of Law. Big Nords with big beards with big axes, sitting around a Court room, talking for ages? That just doesn't seem like the Nords, where violence is an accepted and a part of their culture. It's also why I find it so amusing people are so shocked at the executions. Nords understand violence, it's who they are. Hasn't anyone noticed Nords like you more, after you have beaten them up with your fists and taken some of their teeth as trophies?

Ulfric was guilty, there is no real point of a trial. He killed the High King of Skyrim, he admits it, everyone knows it. High Treason's only punishment is death. Ralof speaking of a fair trial, like if Ulfric was found guilty in a trial all the way in Cyrodiil, the Stormcloak Nords would be all "Yeah okay, he was found guilty, they did a trial, seems fair."

Yeah to challenge a Jarl is Nordic tradition, it's a stupid tradition. That tradition died with the Pact of Chieftains, after Skyrim's last Civil War which destroyed everything Ysgramor's dynasty had created. They never recovered from that Civil War, I don't know why many Stormcloak supporters complain the Empire is taking too long to go to war with the Thalmor, so they decide they can't wait anymore and rebel. If one believes Skyrim will be rebuilt in a year, they're mistaken. Ulfric's entire life time, will be spent sitting around in Skyrim playing with his thumbs. If Skyrim couldn't fully recover after 3 Era's from their last Civil war, I don't think they'll suddenly recover quickly from this one. Especially since Skyrim is isolated and no longer friends with Cyrodiil, all the food and resources that Skyrim's people depends on from the Empire. They can kiss that good bye.
