What kind of Elves are the best?

Dylansauce02

Slaying Trolls and taking names.
I'm looking to start my third active character in Skyrim. I want them to be an Elf as I already have a Human character and a Orc. What kind of Elf should my character be? What kind of elf is your favorite? I'm curious. :]

It depends what you want to do with them. Lore wise, I like the Bosmer the best, although in game their face models are rather weird (it's the lips, they're all odd) and their abilities are rubbish.

I was kind of leaning towards Bosmer. I want the character to be mostly against conflict and specialize in Restoration, Illusion, and Alteration magic (Basically any kind of magic besides Destruction). Their weapon of choice would be war axes and maybe a bow here and there.

altmer. substancially more magicka. knows more spells. naturally tall. i like them best. but if not them than bosmer because they command animals to fight for them for 60 seconds. and bosmer has way more skill in archery

So Altmer they are way better and it's awesome to be about a foot taller then every other race, plus they get an extra ten levels of illusion. And technically the Orcs (Orismer) are elves but when compared to Altmer they are nothing more than apes with metal toothpicks.

Amusingly, seeing as Altmer are generally viewed as a magic-only race, due to their increase in height they can achieve higher damage with melee weapons, as well as moving slightly faster, than the other races.

I think really the most important thing is how you want to roleplay. Altmer will offer a more powerful character, but if you like the Bosmer lore and want to play one then don't be deterred: race really means very little in this game.

I've decided against using Dark Elf as my race, now I have to choose between High Elf and Wood Elf. High Elves have it good in magic, and start off with a ten level bonus in Illusion, which I wanted my character delve highly into (Along with many other magic capabilites that I would want to use more). However, Wood Elves are started out with ten bonus levels in Archery, which was a weapon of choice of my character. The Light armor and Alchemy bonuses also look really good. I must think more about it.

I have decided upon Wood Elf. The magic skills will be slowly built up for my character, and I will start with a good base skill set of Archery, Light Armor, and Sneak. Pickpocketing and Alchemy will come in handy as well.
