Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

For the Dunmer, lets say it is racial between the stormcloaks and the Dunmer because the Dunmer, as a race, are generally unhelpful to the rebels. Would that not be racially motivated? would that not help the Dunmer in that case, because they are perpetuating a racial stereotype that the Dunmer are selfish? would it not help the Dunmer in that case to show the Stormcloaks that they can be trusted and can help the rebels free THEIR homeland?

Many aren't helping the Stormcloaks directly, why aren't they being racially segregated?

The Stormcloaks are a Military coup fighting against the rest of 'THEIR' homeland. It is a Civil War between the Nords, the Redguards and the Bretons aren't helping. Should they be segregated?

who are they helping? I do not know of an instant where they say they donated food or coins to the stormcloak cause? just working for the city is not working for the rebellion. besides, if the stormcloaks/nords are not going to help them based on their race, why bloddy wait for the Empire to solve your problems? Why not roll up your sleeves and fix the grey quarter yourselves?

Strawman. Everything the Dunmer and Argonians do in Windhelm goes into the economy, paying taxes, working the farms and the docks.

Fix they grey quarter themselves? With what? Ulfric isn't interested in the Gray quarter, he refuses to even go look at it. Ulfric owns the city, he is the Jarl of Windhelm. If the Dunmer were to start using Windhelm's resources to rebuild and repair it. You'd be here shouting they're using up resources that could be used to help the rebellion.

and likely everyone else in windhelm. it is not just the Dunmer who are paying the taxes. besides if the Dunmer do not like the way things are, they should fix it themselves by fixing the grey quarter, not complaining until you get someone who will help you for just asking for their help.

Same strawman. How are they going to 'fix up' the Gray Quarter? Ulfric is the Jarl of Windhelm and isn't interested in them. What are they going to repair their area with? Happy thoughts and wishful thinking. Ulfric has a duty to maintain his own city, he can't even manage that.

You keep blaming the Dunmer for Ulfric's inaction. They're trying to make it better, using a third party to try reason with Ulfric since they have already tried to get Ulfric to help, he wouldn't come see the state of the Gray Quarter.

fixed that with the correct problem.

No. The Thalmor are using the Civil War to move around unchecked and unchallenged. They're conducting a large Inqusition into Skyrim to send people flocking to Ulfric. They weren't' able to do this for twenty six years.

and yet they still live in a slum that they could have fixed a long time ago themselves to get that feeling of "You do not like us, so we will make our own equality, without you treating us like your equals."

And again... Fixed it with what?

so all the problems have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with any history between the Nords and the Dunmer? you must be right. The stormcloaks are racist xenophobics because only Nords are actually trying to free Skryim from the political grip of the Empire, while all other races are doing nothing unless they are forced to by the nords.

History of invading the Dunmer? Or perhaps when they were assaulting House Redoran during the Oblivion Crisis?

The Dunmer were treated just fine until the rise of Ulfric Stormcloak. Ulfric's forefathers welcomed them, all the Jarls did.

'There is cause for optimism, though, as Jarl Ulfric is not nearly so tolerant of these substandard beings as his fathers were.' - Scourge of the Gray Quarter

you all are right, the nords hate dunmer because that is all nords have that magically in them and it has nothing to do with the dunmer simply hating the nords even thought there is nothing to show us that the dunmer care for nords outside of a select few we see in game that actually work for the nords and like them.

Really? Like seriously... Stormcloaks =/= All Nords. Dunmer get along just fine with many Nords, some are friends. Even in Windhelm.

Why would the Dunmer of Windhelm care for the Stormcloaks? They are racially segregated, threatened and don't get basic needs. They work and pay taxes like everyone else. Why shouldn't they be treated the same?

Here is how I see windhelm. IT IS A CITY I DO NOT CARE ABOUT. simple as that. what happens in windhelm stays in windhelm because no one else seems to even talk about it until the Dunmer get someone they love on the throne of the city. I hardly spend any time there, so racism/segregation/nords being mean to the Dunmer based on race in windhelm? useless information to me.

Then don't defend and justify it. How is it useless information? Oh that is right, I forgot everything is your RP. If you want to deny things, that is your right. But don't argue it in the thread for several pages, then turn around going "It's useless information"

Why should I care when Khajit are suffering the same all over skyrim? Racism/Xenophobia is not unique to the rebels.

IF I should care about the Dunmer, then I should care about the Khajit and hate all nords for being racist.

Khajiit caravans are banned from the cities, because they're thought to be smugglers and thieves. It is racist, but also has some basis on fact. The Khajiit Caravans do smuggle, they sell skooma and buy stolen goods.

I dislike the racism in Windhelm. I just do not see the point in complaining about it when I just make the characters, and give THEM a life , in Skyrim. Racism is all over Tamriel. Just like the Dunmer in Morrowind who hated just about anything they considered "imperialized" (including those of their own race who been in the empire for any length of time). Never truly liked the Dunmer as a race then, still at least distrust them now, just like the Altmer who are portrayed as arrogant and think they are better than everyone else.

so again, why should the Stormcloaks be unique in their racism/xenophobia when that is pretty common in this universe?

Racism elsewhere, doesn't make it anymore right. Nor does one bad action, justify another.

I guess people hate me because I do not impart modern day values on a fantasy, medieval universe. That is fine, but I see the game as it is, a game based on a fantasy world where our world's values hold little sway in any action of any individual or race.

I honestly dislike both the Stormcloaks and the Empire and wish that I could take their leaders and throw them off the top of the throat of the world.

No. You're grasping for a straw here, this is a fantasy world but it isn't exactly pure medieval. Slavery and racial equality was something spread by the Imperial Empire. So simply saying "Modern day values is why you're against me" isn't the case. They're arguing about what is the norm in the Empire.

Hell there is even flying ships in TES.

I will just leave things as this for now:

Who else here would rather kill everyone on both sides (The soldiers and officers, not the citizens) and start the politics from scratch in Skyrim?

I would love to be able to FUS RO DAH Ulfric, Galmar, General T and Rikke off the top of the throat of the world myself.

I feel nobody listens so....

I was late to the party

Yeah, I guess you missed my tirade ON THIS PAGE. Still, I moved on from the Civil War itself and decided to discuss who wants to just stop the Civil War as violently as possible.

:D

Stormcloak victory removes the Thalmor. Hunting down the Thalmor is the highlight of TES V, what fun is there in removing them

what fun is there in removing them? How about the see satisfaction of slaughtering everyone involved in plunging Skyrim into chaos (Stormcloaks, Imperials and Thalmor), especially as a Breton Battle mage?

Anarchy would not end well or be very fun for anyone. Well, except this dude

I am not talking Anarchy, just removing the problem and starting over. I can just as easily destroy all factions of the Civil War as help either side. all depends on what my Characters do.

Mrs Anouck ~ "The Voice of Reason" ~ *Sniff* *Sniff* "But I know that can't be how you really feel" ~ Mrs AKA herself.

Spends maybe Oh... 4 or 5 pages on reasons why NO ONE is allowed to discriminate or express their feelings towards a particular race of people...

Spends prob another 7 to 8 posts talking firmly against racism and how NO ONE has the right to hate on a certain group of people...

Then some random guy comes along, posts this:

I flippin' hate the High Elves, to be honest...

AND NOT ONLY ANOUCK but two of these other bleeding hearts agrees with it.

Point? Many people hate the High Elves, not just because they're there. Majority of High elves were arrogant and not well liked due to their superior view of themselves. Altmer are disliked by just about everyone, with good reason often times. While not all Altmer are bad, when majority is, it can spoil the few who are good.

Thalmor of the Fourth Era are the worst. They take the arrogance of High Elves to the extreme.

Now while many races disliked the High Elves, they still didn't racially segregate them or make them second class citizens. Altmer were treated equally in the Empire, an Altmer was the head of the Empire for a time :)

At least the Imperials treated the Altmer as equals, and not as lesser beings.

AND YOU fl*ffERS THINK WE'RE EVIL?

She actually had the mean-spirited audacity to agree that she HATES the High Elves, singling us out... That's Awesome! Wasn't this the exact. same. thing. I had said about you before? Something about you not being sincere about being the Voice of Reason or some such thing?

Man, I love it when I can actually prove that I was right all along about something or someone.

pl*ps at least the Thalmor are honest AND ALL OF US understands what must be done and why it must be done.

Thalmor are evil, everyone tends to hate the Thalmor. I don't truly believe that you hold their ideology to heart, you RP as a Thalmor I would assume. But if you believe racial superiority and slaughtering of those deemed impure is correct, then you're heading down a path that will stop people even paying attention to you.

Some can enjoy the different take on view, but don't get too into the ideology of the Thalmor. They're supposed to be the bad guys.

It ain't pretty and the Imperials of Tamriel won't agree with it... some races understand this however. But they were all fine with it before when the Altmer in Summerset were meeting our maker (Dominion in the 2nd era, Oblivion Crises, take your pick). Paid taxes to an Empire who abandoned us, bowed down to an Emperor(s) who didn't love us or understand us... didn't want to get to know us... That was just was fine. It was politically correct to spew your hateful acid all over the Dominion and High Elves because they deserved it for being better cultured, more intelligent, masters of magic, masters of Diplomacy, cities were beautiful... but the only thing man saw was the need for power and instead of learning ways to better himself, rebelled against his betters. Even after earning his independence from us and the Elves left man alone. The violence has never ceased, never ends.

Where does it say the Empire abandoned the Altmer? I recall the Thalmor came into power in way of manipulation, a coup and murder.

The Dominion started the wars, why should the Empire love and understand them? The Imperials were enslaved by elves, the Nords were attacked by elves.

Elves didn't leave man alone, they attacked first and the Aldmeri Dominion also attacked the Empire first. Hell they were even trying to undermine the Empire during the reign of Titus Mede (First of the Mede dynasty)

Forget about other ways to solve our problems with the Elves who deserve our admiration and respect, let's just knife them in the back and then we'll go around pretending to be their victims who are now the Victors and we're all so much better than and more intelligent that the Altmer. Heh ~ Not anymore. Not anymore. Level playing field now and the truth is being seen for what it is.

I don't even understand what you're going on about. The Aldmeri Dominion, started their conflicts with the Empire. First time when they were making peaceful trade relations with the Bosmer.

For some people ~ Winning is everything. The High Elves are not out to win we want CHANGE. We're not out to MURDER PEOPLE we want to UNDO the damage that was done by the Malicious Sycophants who setup their illegitimate Empire, drenching the continent in blood and ruin - on the ruins of Altmer civilization and murdered/enslaved lots of Atlmer/Dominion women and children just because they could. Just because man wasn't satisfied with who he was. With what he had.

The Thalmor do murder people, constantly. They send execution teams after my character all the time.

The Empire was formed (First Empire) from a slave revolt, where also Ayleids were in a civil war and some joined the men of Cyrodiil. The Second Empire formed after the first one fell, the Third one formed when Tiber Septim took the Imperial City.

Man wasn't satisfied with what he had? The Dominion attacked first, don't start the conflict then cry victim later.

The Empire never enslaved the Altmer. The Third Empire had outlawed slavery, the High Elves used slavery of Goblins and such.

Though I must say, I have no real clue what you're on about today.

HA - HA - HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm over here ROFLMAO!!!

This pl*ps is getting HILARIOUS!!!

I interpreted it as him hating the Aldmeri Dominion, which is what I basically agreed with. Hating a faction, since that has clear points of view and stands for something, is understandable. Hating a race, however, not. People use High Elves and the Thalmor as a synonym all the time; which is were the confusion came from. I don't hate the Altmer.. And if that is what he meant, then I take it back and disagree. Then it was my mistake for thinking he was talking about the Dominion.

As I said above; I was probably wrong to think he aimed at the Aldmeri Dominion, which is why I undid the rating by the time you read this. Also; I never called myself the voice of reason. But I am flattered that is the impression you got of me. ;)

Also, marking certain words in a post as red, is my thing.
You thief you.

...And another thing...
It is funny how people are going to act all sarcastic and call you 'mrs Anouck, the voice of reason' for using lore and facts. I guess that was wrong of me. From now on I will type in full caps, ranting and telling bullplops. Because that really contributes something to the debate. :coffee:. Yeash..

'your argument is invalid'
always a good reply when you have no idea what else to say about a post. Save yourself with a video that has nothing to do with the subject at all and pull the 'your argument is invalid' card.

Ohhh I think I made my point. I'm still waiting to here how it's not ok for someone else to Discriminate but it's PERFECTLY FINE to hate another select group of people. Since discrimination is hate and you believe in hate towards High Elves, your argument is invalid and I don't owe you a damn thing.

That video is more relevant and has more to do with this subject that any of your half dozen posts on the last couple pages, which evidently were misleading people about how you really feel.

Yes I'm the bad guy. Never said I wasn't.

Did you read what I wrote? I thought he meant the Dominion, and there I agree with. There is a difference between hating a race and hating a movement. A movement stands for something, and you can hate their ideals. Like, for instance, Al-Qaeda.

I don't believe in hate towards High Elves. This proves you didn't even read my post. You just keep repeating your argument, even though it was already proven wrong. And I bet you are going to re use it in one of your upcoming posts again.

And I file a copyright claim again

because people have problems realizing that their views really do not mean much in the grand scheme of things?
Elaborate. This is far too vague to make sense of.

there is nothing more to debate. things in this thread (I have been here for a long time lurking) have been discussed here and elsewhere. I see nothing new here and I see nothing that warrants any more debate. What we decide for our games does not mean a thing for the guy sitting next to us. if people get that through their thick skulls, then there might be room on threads for more meaningful threads.

sorry for the tirade, I just hate that threads like this keep popping up every forum that is about Skyrim.

For someone who doesn't see the point of a thread, you participated in it pretty long. ;) And you have been trying to convince others of your point, just like everybody else.

I agree with you that it is up to everyone to decide what side they pick. I have Thalmor characters, Stormcloak characters and I even used to have a Forsworn.
..But if you are actually are going to take a look at the debate, you can see evidence and facts that back up certain factions or proof that a cause is wrong or invalid. You can, like the Dunmer-discrimination debate, lift it up to a moral discussion where you use in-game anecdotes and examples to talk about something that actually is important.

Actually, the Dominion and all high elves are the same thing.

It is every High Elf's belief that they were once gods and were banned from godhood and cursed to mortality by a traitor, and I don't know why but that traitor to them is Talos the god.

There are no High Elves that don't believe that. Its like all Nords believe in Sovngarde.

Proof? I've never seen that, while meeting Altmer who are normal citizens that get along with Nords well enough

The proof is the lore. There are many videos on youtube on TES lore.Watch some.I recommend ShodyCast

And you get the idea by just noticing how stuck up all the High Elves are.

That is absolutely not true.

There are several Nords that don't believe in Sovngarde. Brynjolf, a member of the Thieves Guild, is a Nord and a non-believer. "I'm trying to understand why I'm here, lass. I'm no priest, and I'm certainly not religious" That is a quote that literally came from a conversation between Karliah and Brynjolf during the Nightingale quest. And he is not the only Nord atheist.

...And the same thing goes for the Altmer. They don't all believe in something just for the sake of being a High Elf. Just like not every person in Turkey is a Muslim just because they happens to be Turkish.

It is every High Elf's belief that they were once gods and were banned from godhood and cursed to mortality by a traitor, and I don't know why but that traitor to them is Talos the god.

The reason why the Dominion doesn't consider Talos a God, is because he was a mortal. A very important one, but still mortal. This is what I've heard from several conversations with Thalmor all over Skyrim. Whether this is the "official statement" of the Dominion or not, is not know to me.

And as far as I am concerned, it is not Talos that is considered a traitor. Could you explain this maybe?
