My main character is an imperial, and I went that route because I wanted to get as wealthy as possible quickly. Once I reached one million gold, I was satisfied. :)
Ironically, I followed the Stormcloak line...
Yep, very true. I have tried to build characters around certain fighting styles, at least preferred fighting styles, but each is certainly more appropriate in some instances than others.
On the same note, I would also recommend obtaining the Mace of Molag Bal right off the bat. Very powerful, and super easy to get at level 1. And you get a free house! :)
My first character is a spellsword (flames and sword, mostly), while my second is an orc (mace and shield) and my third more of a pure mage (dark elf). The slash and burn fighting style was the most natural to me to start the game, but I've found the shield and mace, at least for my orc, to be...
Yeah, I didn't buy the game until a couple months ago, so I missed all the drama at the launch. I should be good then, since I'm well past that point with all three characters.
I use the Abandoned House in Markarth as primary storage for all three of my characters. It's an easy quest, you can do it at Level 1, you get a great weapon and a free place to put your stuff. Three chests too...

There are 3 at the end of the quest line, including Cicero. No Dark Elves though...
But you can get DB clothing for another follower. You'll get Astrid's set, and you can get the ancient shrouded set as well.
No, it gets old. In fact, I was using the Dawnstar sanctuary as my home base, but finally moved out after getting stalked by Elder dragons every freaking time I went there. It was like clockwork. Every now and then, fine. But not every time.
I'm still relatively new to the game, so there's quite a bit that I haven't done. The things I haven't done, on purpose, include finishing the Companions line and the Thieves Guild line. I'm a little gun shy about the whole werewolf thing, even though I know lycanthropy can be cured. As for...
Chaurus. Or is it chauri? Anyway, I can't stand those things. It doesn't help that I'm usually dealing with about 10 Falmer in some dank cave when these things decide to show up, usually in numbers.
