Hey everyone! Lets play a game called "Report the Jackass"!!! I'll start!

Save often. Do not disable autosave. PC users should Quicksave frequently. Make a dedicated save game before entering a new area (i.e. one that requires loading).
The last point is probably the important because the game is prone to many bugs, the simplest solution is to reload and playthrough from a point before the bug manifests, and the most bugs manifest either when you enter a new area or a quest is loaded into your journal. Making a dedicated save game will create a restore point from which you can replay without having to duplicate a lot of playing time.
For PC users there's really no excuse not to do this as you have practically limitless storage space to save games without affecting game performance. For game console users, this can affect performance so you may want to get into the habit of moving your older dedicated saved game files onto thumb drives to keep your save game file size low enough to prevent performance issues.

Each promises fast advancement. Tempting, but is that what you really want?
Remember that you're in no hurry and the more you get to experience of the game, the more fun you'll have.
I've gotten an astounding amount of value for my gaming dollar by not hurrying at all.
Just stop and smell the Namira's Rot mushrooms.

I think that the best advice for noobs is
1) you should start by simply enjoying the game, and not spend time trying to get the most powerful character, destroying everything in sight, and amassing 100,000 gold: plenty of time for all those things later on.
2) don't use the forums to learn tricks, shortcuts and walkthroughs: these deny you the satisfaction of that 'job well done' feeling when you figure it out for yourself
3) it's not a race, you are not competing with other players. Take time to explore, enjoy the scenery, smell the roses, kill the wildlife.
4) *SPOILER* however, do not kill the chickens.

If you're playing on a PC (I'd give the same advice to PS3 and 360 users if they could benefit from this, but alas, at the moment, they can't):
Download the Unofficial Skyrim Patch if you haven't done so already. Do it immediately.
It fixes some major, major issues with the game that will inevitably crop up as you progress. IMO, it's easily the most worthwhile project that the modding community has come up with, because it really allows the game to function the way that it should...and the way that the developers intended.
Outside of that, just save a lot. The best thing about this game is exploring and discovering how things work on your own. Consult UESPWiki and The Elder Scrolls Wiki if you really, really get jammed up. Between those two sites, they'll be able to answer just about any question you have.

1- Forsworn are some real bastards, especially in larger groups.
2- Dont just explore, take the time to memorize certain areas. You would be surprised how fast a mountain pass is compared to endlessly hitting jump.
3- Do NOT neglct the restoration school.
4- Stock up on all healing potions in any alchemy store. The gold will come back to you o swear.
5- Ice wolves and Frost Trolls are not the same as their counterparts, and all Sabre Cats are fierce.
