For right now I'm using a conjured bow and swords. I'm debating on whether or not to continue into Conjuration for improved Atronach's or not. I have spent points into illusion for silent casting as it is a must using conjured weapons while sneaking. The rest of my points (for now) will go into Sneak, Archery, and 1H for dual-wielding.

I've found my simple setup to be quite effective.

My Wood Elf is level 26 and has completed the main quest and is nearly finished the Thieve's Guild quest line.

All of my perks have been put into Sneak and Archery (only missing the 100 perk in both). I haven't put a single perk into any other tree yet (I am still debating my 3rd).

Magicka 100, Health 150, Stamina 300.

After looking over some things, I haven't had to use my 1H very often so I think I can get away with not spending any perks into that. I'm currently spending points on Archery/Sneak (Main), and then a few into Conjuration/Illusion. I have gotten my Magicka up to 140 as I needed some extra mana to cast a couple of spells and my health is 200 and I'm now dumping all I have into Stamina.

In my case, I don't really like the idea of casting magical spells on my stealth archer. The exception might be Illusion, but certainly not Conjuration. Not that magic wouldn't be effective, but it doesn't fit the character I'm trying to create.

With more of a Mage-style character, I can see delving into the Arcane arts.

But maybe you're going for more of an archer-mage combo?

The only spells I'm working with is Conjure Bow and Muffle. I'm only going into Illusion far enough to get Silent Casting due to the conjured weapons. Muffle is also helping me as I continue to level up Sneak. I'm not using any other spell so I don't consider myself partly mage.

If you haven't tried the conjuration weapons you should eventually give them a shot, they are very handy, I don't have to carry a bow/arrows (and keep them stocked) or 1h weapons. Also the damage is far superior then that of any bow I have found so far (level 17).

Once you get up at higher levels you'll notice a big difference between a good crafted bow and the conjured bow though Reladin.
