Actually reputation points that you can give out are based on how many likes you have recieved, not as is the common misconception that its based on your reputation. For example on my original account I could give 20+ reputation at a time as I had over 1100 likes.

Also it used to be that you had to give a full allotment of reputation points each time. I petitioned and then had to go to Xenforo to find the coding, so that you could if you wanted give the full amount or dial it back based on whether you felt it deserved more or less.
