Best Conjuration Race?

Hold on a moment here, either the protection from magic is permanent or not, so the 25% racial protection from magic is in force, im not talking about stones or perks, just the racial ability, so therefore it must be protecting the breton from spells cast on himself, such as atronachs as mentioned, so it must also be the same for Alteration,(flesh armor) as that is also cast upon yourself, !!

magic resistance does not affect your summon spells at all, it is spell absorbtion which does, you get 30% spell absorbtion from the atromancy perk, 50% from the breton greater power and some from the atronach stone.
If you are a breton and use the spell absorption power, if you summon before you use the power your summon lasts 60 seconds which is the same duration as the power so you will not need to summon in those 60 seconds therefore the bretons racial power will not negatively effect you.

Ah i see, still seems to be in conflict with its description to me , IMHO

Well the Dragonskin and the Magic Resistance are two separate things. The Magic Resistance does not absorb anything (meaning it doesn't give you anything back). It's similar to the Nord's resistance to Frost I believe.

Dragonskin is something that actively drains Magicka from spells, which is why there is a chance for it to mess up your own character's summons. As long as you summon FIRST, then use Dragonskin, you'll be ok.

wrighty explains it well in the post above this.

I guess there is something im just not seeing here at the moment, , perhaps a few beers and a lie down will work , :beermug::D

Not Magic Resistance, from say the Lord Stone, that doesn't affect Summoning one way or the other. Spell Absorbtion has a chance to block incoming magic, and go into you Magicka bar. 2 different effects.

It's quite simple, magic resistance only affects hostile spells, if a spell does 100 damage and you have 25% resistance then it will only do 75 damage to you.

Spell absorbtion can be gained by using the atronach perk in the alteration tree, the atronach stone or using the breton greater power (which can only be used once per day for 60 seconds).
Spell absorbtion has a chance to absorb the magick of a spell cast on you. Summon spells are classed as being cast on yourself. Therefore if you had 30% spell absorbtion then roughly 1 in every 3 times that you cast a conjure fire/frost/storm atronach etc it would fail, it would just not work and nothing would happen because you absorbed your own spell.

Spell Absorb effects (Atronach Stone, Atronach perk, and Breton daily power) affect your conjuration spells.
Magic Resistance, like the Lord Stone, or a Necklace of magic resistance etc. do not.

EDIT: Ninja'd by two people :p

yo dude. the innate 25% thing is Magic Resistance. Kinda like those you see in equipments, agent of mara, vampiric surge and the likes. that thing just reduces damage from spells.
spell absorption is another thing. it's what ruins a conjurer's day.
haha! i see you all are electromancers, pyromancers, and cryomancers! good thing i am a breton with the atronach stone and atronach perk, i shall activate dragonskin!!
TAKE THIS! TWO OVERPOWERED DREMORA LORDS!
pffsszzt. :fart:
haha.

EDIT: w0w, i'm too slow, i guess. haha.

Just a suggestion, I recently DLed a Mod for just this type of character, and it's Great! Steam Workshop :: Familiar Fun - More Summonable Familiars BETA You can summon all kinds of new Familiars, including a Mudcrab, Frostbite Spider, and my personal favorite: Sabercat. It needs a little work, but I've posted some gentle suggestions, and hope to coordinate with him to balance, and polish it out a little bit. Anyway, Give it a try PC users, it's a lot of fun!

had a llok at those stills, looks brill,, the mudcrab made me smile, :D

Actually, Argonians make good summoners.

You need to look at the race overall. Conjuration isn't just about having enough mana, it's about being able to survive. The Argonian racial ability is very useful for summoners at low levels.

Here's one from me:

Liar's Retreat, if you haven't already, try anything in that first room, and see how many times you die. 2 Sabercats did it with relatively little trouble...
