I would also prefer it but it just depends on how intense people want. That's why I'm thinking maybe like, limit people to a number of lives. Obviously, the beginning of the game is difficult but I feel like once you hit the teens and hit your stride, the game gets much more survivable.Dead is dead would be my preference, would add some serious intensity to the game itself. Weird thought though, back story will be difficult for everyone since we're all essentially broke with no weapons or armor to start out.
This sounds like a lot of fun, I'm down to participate! Loved hardcore mode in Fallout and was hoping there would be something similar in Skyrim.
I love that picture, looks like she's hooking him with the pick for a coup de grace' stab with the dagger. Probably the best killcam screencap I've ever seen.

I might be down for this, but my character didn't go through Helgen Keep, she escaped through the East Gate (Toward the Rift) when the Dragon attacked. She was from Helgen, and not a prisoner though. She's also not Dragonborn...
That's one potential wrinkle I see here, how many of the PCs are going to be Dovakiin? The Listener?.. We can't have too many Chosen Ones.
That handles it neatly. I'd say Brynjolf becomes Guildmaster without the PC being there to give him an excuse not to. The faction arcs would probably continue as if someone was playing them, but there's invariably someone who would make a good standin. In The College of Winterhold, for instance, there's J'Zargo, who has the ability, and ambition to become Archmage. In my fanfic, I just added a nondescript assassin type to play the Listener, though there's no reason it couldn't be Gabriella, for instance. Or, they might have been Destroyed, by the PO that got tired of waiting for someone to show up, and do it for them. Commander Maro has the passcode, there's no reason to assume he won't use it, eventually. The main quest should be ignored from a roleplay perspective. If you want to be from Helgen and ran away, that's alright for backstory. But as far as I'm concerned, I don't think anyone should have their backstory relate to the store of the Dragonborn.
And as for who would be the Dragonborn, Listener, etc...
I think the main quests should be ignored from a roleplay perspective. The entire structure of these guilds should be player driven. Through roleplay, a Guildmaster is found for the Thieves Guild. You don't become the Guildmaster simply by beating the quest in the game.
I think the Daedric quests should be "first come, first serve". You can collect the other artifacts but unless you're the first person to use them, or acquire them through roleplay, you can't use them.
This is mostly just... us creating characters to live in the world of Skyrim.
The major guilds like the College, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Companions should exist, in my opinion, as they do when the game starts. For now, anyways. I think we can address everything later when we get to that point.
I'm really bored today so I'm gonna go ahead and make the official threads and get this ball rolling.
Will edit links into this post for everyone.
Hahaha no, I'm just working on a lot of projects today but, at the moment, things are in a stand-still. And the weather... is looking kinda dark for me to just waste time on the Ninja so... I'm just trying to stay productive.this thread is boring to ya? lol. just a good bit of kidding.
no need to give my character negatives to start.

"You can't have everything, where would you put it?" It kind of remind me of the glitchy goodness that is TESV: Skyrim.Lesson: Don't sneak up on a miner.
... Too bad about the collision with the quiver of arrows on his back.
Wow, you know how hard it is Not to hear about the Arentino Boy around there? I'm leaning toward a mulligan, otherwize, it's going to be pretty much straight to the Abandoned shack.Psiberzerker - Windhelm
OOC Thread
Everyone who has expressed interesting (or at least has posted and didn't say they weren't interested ;D ), here are your starting towns... again, I have a list of the carriage destinations, 1-9. Randomly generating a number between 1-9, matching it up, giving you your town.
Katastrophe - Riften
MushroomGenius - Riften
Hermaeus_Mora - Whiterun
JakeGeorge! - Morthal
DarkEastwood - Morthal
osheao - Solitude
K3V!N - Windhelm
Psiberzerker - Windhelm
Oddly enough, a lot of doubles... so at least (not everyone) will be totally alone...?
Edit: If you really hate what I rolled for you, I'll allow a mulligan. Maybe you're very anti-Stormcloak and you're in Windhelm... I dunno. I'll give you another option and you can choose the lesser of the two evils. Or maybe Mushroom just hates me and doesn't want to start with me.
