fortify lockpicking enchantment

one of the enchantments on my necklace is lockpicking is 45% easier what does it it actually do? i tried unlocking a master lock with and without it on and there is no difference.

Personally, the perks and any enhancements don't do jack squat for me. I usually just perk it up and then legendize it 'cause, no matter how high the %ages go, I still have the same sort of picking issues. I'm good, I'll give ya that, but I've been good since level 1 and I was picking masters then with success. I just need to make sure I have plenty of picks on hand.

In my case mate, I do not have any perk in that skill tree but a lot of enchanting on one of my items and it never fails not even with master locks. I guess I do have a LOT ... lol ... ;)

You are probably better off buying a ton a lockpicks. Loot every bandit for them. And just do it till you get the feel for it. Eventually you'll be able to pick everything fairly easily. I average about 6-8 picks on the hardest locks with no perk points.

I'm right there with ya. I've picked enough locks that I don't need any in-game perks to help.

I always have a minimum of 1K on hand (obviously I don't need that many), but I loot every bandit and even other folks have them (hunters, guards, etc... - it's a lockpicking epidemic!). So far I've never gone below 980 - of course even a master never takes me more than 2 or 3.

i have over 300 picks right now. the first and only master lock i tried picking so far was violas house so i could plant her ring. i used 5-6 without the enchanted necklace then used 5-6 more with the necklace on before i finally picked it. what's the point in enchanting a necklace with an enchantment that makes lockpicking "easier" if it don't even work? i probably wouldn't of used that many lockpicks but i was tired last night when i finished that quest ha.

If you're playing on PC, there is a mod available which adds incremental marks around the lock face in order to help you with lockpicking; you can use the marks to see where your lockpick lines up each time, as well as the spots where it has broken.

As far as the fortify (skill) items, I never quite understood how the percentage correlated to your skill rank either. I also tend to just carry a ton of lockpicks and just hope for the best :)
