Guys, Why Lydia

Hey Dagmar, has this fix come out on the PS3, do you know? :)
1.7 was released for all platforms by the end of August so it should work for the PS3. I don't know if it will apply to saved games from before the patch but it works on any new game since the patch. You can still use the Wabbajack to update the stats of non-essential followers though.

So, after replaying the story again on PC, I got why people like Lydia. It wasn't that she was pretty or that she has the "I am swoooorn to carry your burdens.." line. It was that (thanks to a mod) she was a useful follower who wouldn't get stuck on doorways or rocks. The AI was far from perfect, but playing with her as a follower made me feel like part of a team, rather than a shepard leading a brain dead sheep.

I wanted a follower and chose Lydia , I made a full set of daedric armor and a daedric sword. The only item that wasn't daedric was her shield. I then went to solitude to purchase some more ebony but she looked really cool and I wanted to test her new armor.I attacked a guard and killed him and the another guard came towrds me to attack me but the Lydia defended me by attacking him but she was defeated by the guard. Please can anyone tell me where I can get a good follower please.

You' might be doing something wrong because this is what happens when the city guards try to harm me with Lydia by my side. She didn't even need my help, so I made myself a sammich and watched.

If you put your Housecarl in high end enchanted gear there's nothing in the game they can't handle solo:

What level are you, how old is your saved game (when did you start it) and what platform are you playing off of?

The first time she died, I actually felt bad. Now, I don't care anymore.
I had a similar expirience. On my first char, I had planned on killing her in my house, but didn't feel like having to deal with the body. So, I took her out to the hardest, longest dungeon I knew about, the one where a guy hires you to retake his castle. As we fought, I began to respect her abilities. Then, while she was a t low health, she crawled onto a button and impaled herself. That was the first moment in any game that made me feel sad. Not angry, but just a strange sad feeling.

I have had followers beginning at full health step on a trap multiple times and die as a result, I do not mourn them.

I recently became Thane of Riften, and thus got a new Housecarl. Currently I'm trying to find a way to kill Lydia, because I'm tired of her attitude and dialogue. Plus she's always getting in my way.

I pushed her off the Throat of the World with Unrelenting Force, but when I fast travelled to Riften, she was still alive!
Guess I'll have to find a more... final way. :blackdragon:

Lol, just enjoy your new Housecarl. One's as effective as the next and the rest don't have the sarcastic attitude about carrying your stuff. Some of us like the sarcastic response. I love Marcurio's response in this regard. I actually ask him to carry stuff just to provoke him. :p
Marcurio said:
I am an apprentice wizard, not a pack mule! Oh very well, but make it quick.
Hee haw!

Bwahaha, I did it. >:D
Bleak Falls Barrow had a dragon and respawned bandits, who kindly helped me get rid of Lydia. Too bad she resisted my Soul Trap.

Now let's hope Iona is more pleasant.

shes ugly as fu ck no way is she more attractive than other people u can marry i would prefer sylgja over her any day. i think mjoll is a better follower

I will wake up one day in Breezehome with Lydia making a pin-cushion out of me screaming,

"Why.. Won't.. You.. Take... Me..... ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!?"

All three characters I've played so far have never used her. I tend to go it alone, come back with all my treasure, drop off food ingredients/smithing materials/interesting treasures/daedric gear, sleep, make any equipment switches and back out the door.

I don't even acknowledge her, if she's in the way I'll brush past her w/out even glancing her way, she'll be muttering some half-hearted "mutter, mutter, mutter......My Thane..." I don't think it's very gallant or polite even, but she creeps me out sitting alone in my low-lit room glaring to no-one eating my sweet-rolls.
