Spoiler Help with armor upgrades

Ok I am using the nightengale armor(and will be for the rest of my game). and I'd like to get it upgraded to Legendary. It is currently at Exquisite. Would also like to up my Ebony Sword from Flawless to Legendary.

My Smithing lvl is 100 with all but the Ebony and Daedric perks. If it matters my Light Armor skill is at 85 and all perks but Deft Movement. Currently with using a "Ring of Minor Smithing("weapons and armor can me improved 12% better I can get my Dragonscale shield to Legendary, But every thing else I can't get it up the Legendary.

What does my smithing lvl need to be at to do it?

Edit. I just leveled and now have the Ebony smithing perk.

I'd suggest trying to equip several smithing enhancing gears. I used the same ring as you, plus some gauntlet's that enhanced my smithing by 20%. I have full Glass Legendary for myself and my companion (Lydia). Working on deadric and dragon now that I have 100 smithing.

KK. Time to hunt down some more smithing stuffs then. Thanks.

Since Nightengale armor is not a piece of armor that you can craft, its highest achievable level is exquisite. The Dawnbreaker or Mahrunes Dagger are limited to this as well because you can't craft them. I stumbled upon what you can do with the bonus smithing items though. No matter if your armor or weapon is legendary/exquisite, if you have a higher bonus to smithing when you go to upgrade, you will be able to upgrade it for more armor rating/attack rating.

Not to sound argumentative or anything but I think your wrong on that part. But with the ring I currently use plus a +30% smithing potion I was able to get all of my NG armor to Epic status. Without it(and once I found where I had stashed all my void salts) I could have done flawless.

Thanks for the input though! On a side note all my weapons and my shield are at Legendary now.

Maybe I'm wrong, no need to feel like you can't correct me. I was just relating to my experience with the NG armor and the Dawnbreaker. I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out why it wasn't going to legendary but a simple educated guess was that exquisite wasn't in the tech tree as far as standard weapons go. In my mind, Exquisite/?Epic? = Legendary.

Kinda the annoying part of a new game. No one knows yet what the limits on a crafted/given piece of equipment.

I did find a +20% to smithing ring to replace my +12% one. But alas even with a +30% potion I still can't do it. Waiting to find some kind of armor or neckless that has a + to smithing to try again.

My next goal is to figure out how to add some frost and(or if you can only do 1) lightning bonus to my shield. As is those are the only 2 elements that really effect and hurt me.

Added bonus, with my legendary ebony sword, sneak and one handed potions I was able to sneak up on a sleeping elder dragon and 3 shot his butt. :)

Ok still trying to hit this goal and a I a couple more questions.

1. Does my light armor skill count for the skill check(as is it is at 94 or 95)?

2. do worn(meaning, rings, neckless's and armor) enchantments stack? Can I say make a set of armor(and shield) and neckless, then enchant them with a smithing bonus and have all 6(armor, shield, neckless and my current ring) raise my smithing skill, say all(but the ring) came out with a +5% to smithing would it be a total of +80%(armor, shield, neckless, ring and potion) or just +5(or+20% if the ring over road every thing)?

Well today I found a +22% neckless at a shop and sadly just it and a +35% potion didn't work.

How ever I did find a +50% potion. That plus the +35%(if it stacked) and the notched pick axe was enough to kick my NG armor into Legendary status!

W00T!!!!!

Sadly during the trials of trying to max out my armor I had misplaced my +20% ring but as it turns out I didn't need it and I was able to bump all my weapons up 5 or 6 points with just the neckless and the first +20 potion I had.

Oh and that ring? Found it in one of my houses(currently own all of them, waste of gold I know but it is handy for getting out of trouble).

Thanks very very much for all your help with my armor OCD :)
