Immortal Words - Saurano Direnni

I started out (in Skyrim) on master with my first character and a few restrictions. Felt it was too easy and started over with a new character and the restrictions I now use. Soooooo, my restrictions had nothing to do with not having the difficulty set high enough.

Morrowind, on the other hand, is definitely more difficult IMO. Even at level 5 or 6 a rat has the ability to kill you. Enemies are basically pre-leveled, so you can very easily run into enemies that you are nowhere near ready for. Spells had a 'chance' to cast, arrows had a 'chance' to hit .. even if they were dead on and visually hit the target. Health didn't regenerate .. weapons/armor degraded .. you weren't led around by the nose on quests ... it was a more difficult game in many ways.

Oh, and Morrwind has slaughterfish ..... d;-p

Hlormaren - unknown

I've cleared out the second story of this enormous fortress. I'm losing track of how many I've killed. There must have been another eight to ten upstairs. My mark, unfortunately, was not among the dead. He still eludes me.

I'm exhausted now. I've been sneaking around and fighting for hours now ... countless hours. I need to rest so badly. There are beds and hammocks in many of the rooms, and they are so tempting to me right now. But until this structure is clear I just don't feel safe closing my eyes.

I don't dare leave and come back either. The last thing I want is to lose the element of surprise now. I've worked too hard and come too far.

I've found another staircase leading upwards .. a third level. I can only hope it's the last, and that my mark lies ahead.

Hlormaren - Night

I reached the uppermost level of the fortress, which was actually open to the outside. The top of the structure towered over the surrounding swamps. I could hear all of the creatures down below, creating their usual symphony of nighttime noises.

There was a dunmer to my left, an archer. I only had a few arrows left so I chose to go with my sword this time. I crept a bit closer and then charged him.

He was surprised to see me charging at him with my blade leading the way. But he recovered quickly enough to draw his own sword, forgoing his bow. My sword unleashed blast after blast of electric charge into his body, and after only a handful of blows he fell to the ground.

I took his arrows, some of which where enchanted, and explored the remainder of the rooftop. I found my mark on the far side of the roof. I approached him to confirm his identity, then backed off out of sight.

I used my amulet to disappear, then readied my bow with an enchanted arrow and landed my first strike from the shadows. My target ran, and I pursued him, firing arrows as I chased him around the rooftop.

I nearly ran out of arrows before he finally fell. It was difficult to loose arrow after arrow while running. But I killed the man and that was that. It turns out he was wearing ebony armor, but it was so heavy I couldn't take it with me. Shame. It was worth at least sixty thousand drakes. A fortune to me.

I stashed the armor in a barrel. Perhaps one day I'll return for it. For now, I'm boarding a boat to return to Vivec and collect my bounty. And then I'll be off to deal with this Dark Brotherhood.

*cough* BULLpl*** *cough*
i don't believe that for one second, ain't no way in hell you're more skilled at this game than me and i can't even do that, much less when you first played the game! if you're gonna lie at least make it sound plausible, i can't believe you got people gullible enough to buy that bs. tell ya what, post a vid of you going through the main story on master using any means you want without dying once? then i'll be convinced, but we both know you won't do that cause you can't.

HappyFC, chill out and let BIGwooly do his thing. You spamming his thread calling him a liar is hardly encouraging or conducive to the creative process. I believe him, but what does it even matter whether he's that good or not? He's created and brought to fruition a very creative idea on how to write a character journal (more than once, Mr. Hrisskar)), and shares it with us. Instead of hating and arguing over details, why not just appreciate the creativity in what he's doing?

yea.. you're right bro, i deleted that post.. i'm just in a bad mood tonight, had a really bad week, shouldn't even be making comments on here right now, sorry about that man.

No worries. You're not the first one that didn't believe me. d;-)

Let me just say these two things and before I move on. I originally created a post for a 'hardcore playstyle' just to share the way I like to play these games. I never cared about impressing anyone. It's a single-player game after all and there's no reward other than the gameplay experience you personally have. But then I created my first journal and attached the rules to it so that people would understand and relate to how my character was playing, because I knew it was probably a lot different than how most people play the game. I never really expected anyone to follow the journal, but then it got pretty popular and I got an idea for a new journal style and that's where this one came in. This is all just to enhance my own gameplay experience and share with others. I could care less if anyone thinks I'm a good gamer or not.

On that note, however, I have a history of competitive gaming. I, and teams I played on, won a number of tournaments with Halo 1 and Halo 2. Then I moved into Call of Duty and eventually ended up on a sponsored team for Tritton headphones. Within 2 or 3 months I was the captain of the team, and we played in a lot of tournaments. I also placed 4th in the GGL COD tournament which had over 1,500 entrants. And on top of that I was on the Spike TV reality show called "Spike TV's Gamehead Bootcamp", a 3 day bootcamp style reality show centered on the COD series, where we also competed in COD3 before it was released to the public. I was one of 16 gamers selected from the entire country to be flown out to NYC as a competitor. I took 2nd in this tournament and nearly had 1st place. So yeah ... I am actually pretty decent when it comes to being a gamer. d;-p

But seriously, I just play for fun now. I don't even have an active Xbox Live account anymore. I just play to chill. I hope you can enjoy the journal in the future, and if not, no hard feelings.

No problem. We all have bad days. Water under the bridge, my man.

Now that we've done the group hug - what's up BIGwooly? I feel the need for Moar Writings!

I really enjoy your adventures, and while my role-play is not as restrictive, it is far more detailed than many people's play style. My imagination has improved since reading your journals, so I appreciate your efforts.

Been out of town the past 2 weekends and the same for this one coming up, so it makes it harder to find time to play. Prolly going to play tonight, though. Glad you're liking the journals and kudos on playing your own playstyle. Do you have a link to what you do for yours? I'm curious.

Oh, and thanks for posting. It helps to know I'm writing this journal for more than just myself and AS88, lol. ;)

Basically, I am not a good enough player to be comfortable with dead is dead, but I do have a few rules I play by. My character is Bosmer, an archer/thief/sneaky fellow. He's also a cannibal and must have flesh occasionally. He is a carnivore and shuns vegetables, fruit, and cooked items like bread, pies, etc. He will eat meat based stews, but no vegetable based soups like cabbage apple. He will drink wine, but never mead. Clam chowder is a favorite, made from animals. He has a stockpile of milk and butter.
No fast travel except by cart or to dump loot
All alchemy ingredients are collected by my character, none purchased except moon sugar.
Eat at least 2 times daily
Sleep every day
Provide armor of a much better grade to any follower than what they come with. When dismissed, they get to keep any armor or weapons I gave them.
They get paid after a battle - sliding scale according to difficulty and their performance
The follower gets fed what my character eats and if it is not another Bosmer, they will get fruit and veg that I don't want, so I keep a few on hand
Read books
Cook
No horse riding after Frost was killed
No dogs unless they are food
May use illusion magic for clairvoyance, alteration for transmuting, and restoration magic, but shies away from all other magic. He may resort to a fire spell in a tight spot, but rarely, and usually only to light up an oil patch. He heals his followers when they are injured.
Believes in interior design and decorates his houses with flowers, baskets full of ingredients, impressive armor and weapon displays, and he arranges items like dragon claws and masks in display cases. *I threw this in for the fun of it because of the incongruity of a murderous, sneaky cannibal who likes to decorate*. Dwemer pots and dishes are among his favorite decor. He uses Centurian Dynamo Cores for nightlights.
No strength potions. Any over-encumbrance must be lightened by dropping items.
He tries to sleep with as many Jarls as possible. The game lets you sleep in an occupied bed, so my character, Kaeil, likes to slip in beside them at night. He has also found a bed in a room in the Blue Palace he frequents, even though he owns Proudspire Manor. He leaves a flower on the bed when he sleeps there. He'll sleep next to anyone when he's out and about and doesn't want to travel home.
He bathes. He is not smelly. He has nice hair. Kaeil drops his armor and weapons and takes a dip in rivers, lakes, etc. on occasion. In cold water, his baths are ultra quick, usually just splashing at the shore.

Those are just a few of the ways I role-play. I change things as I go, too. Kaeil has fabulous taste, but don't turn your back on him.

Just wanted to post real quick to gauge interest in me continuing this journal. Work got busy and I had to take some time off from playing again and just not sure how many people are still interested in following this. Thanks!

I'm definitely interested. I've forwarded a link to the journal thread to a friend who has just started playing Skyrim to give him inspiration. He's adjusting his character and finding better immersion as a result. He's stopped most fast travel and is tailoring his character. He says he's even set up shop in Riften, and previously he wouldn't go there.

So, yeah.

Mournhold - Evening

After traveling back to Vivec to collect my bounty, I decided it was time to travel to the temple city of Mournhold and get to the bottom of this Dark Brotherhood business. I'm not sure what their issue is with me, but I don't appreciate being attacked in my sleep. The trouble is, no one really want to talk about them. There is a lot fear associated with this fiendish group of mercenaries.

For now I'm just doing my best to talk to everyone I can in the city here. Most are saying nothing at all, but a few are giving me some hints. It seems there is access to the ruins of the old city via the sewers under the Great Bazaar. The ruins are known as Old Mournhold, and I'm led to understand that I'll find more than I want of the Dark Brotherhood there.

I'll finish purchasing some supplies tonight, then locate the entrance to the sewers in the morning.

Mournhold Ruins - Unknown

I'm utterly lost within these old ruins.

I can't even say for certain, but it feels like I've been wandering down here for the entire day. I'm almost out of food already, not to mention I've taken a few blows from the nasty creatures that dwell down here. Aside from a khajiit, I've only come across undead spirits. I'd rather see more khajiit.

But I've come to an old wooden door now, and I'm hoping it leads somewhere worthwhile. I'm exhausted and hungry and in need of some change of fortune.

Mournhold Ruins - Unknown

Behind the door ... water!

At first I was completely demoralized. It looked deep, and there was no way I was going to strip off my armor and head off into the unknown depths with just my sword. But I waded in a bit, and managed to find a shallower path down the flooded tunnel along the right side.

Not far into the tunnel I spotted a dark figure briefly in the distance. He disappeared almost as soon as I spotted him, but it was enough to raise the hairs on my neck. I was in a vulnerable position on this ledge in the water. So I put my sword away and used the enchantment on my belt to bolster my defensive abilities. Then I drew my sword and nervously pressed forward.

I reached the end of the tunnel and found no sign of the apparition. It had disappeared. Or had it? I could hear footsteps. Behind me!

I spun around and before me was a sight I hadn't seen for some time. A man dressed in all black armor. One of the Dark Brotherhood brethren ....

My sword had it's full enchantment, and this fellow was obviously new to the ranks of his organization. His skills were unproven, at least against someone of my abilities, and with my blade's enchantment at full strength he succumbed to the lightning blasts in short order.

Beyond his fallen corpse .. a stairway .... and the Dark Brotherhood compound ....

Mournhold - Evening

The Dark Brotherhood compound was indeed up those stairs. I crept up them slowly .. and down the next tunnel slowly. And when the tunnel opened up into a large room I felt my stomach drop. I could see the shapes of at least four brotherhood assassins. I was outnumbered and I hadn't even broken inside yet. I had changed into their brotherhood armor, taken from the first assassin I killed. It was better armor, and lighter, but it was also black as night and I hoped it would help me blend in better than my gleaming white chitin armor.

I used my bow and my remaining arrows to take two of them out, but as I moved in closer two more came from my right flank and caught me by surprise. The remainder of my arrows went toward felling them. But now I was out of arrows and looking at a door, another tunnel, and a long walkway that led high above me. Three possible directions and I was feeling a bit underprepared. The first three brotherhood mercenaries were challenging opponents but not terribly so. The last two that had attacked me were a different story. They were obviously journeymen and not mere apprentices.

Although I should have chosen to retreat, I couldn't bear to give up my progress. I had come so far already, and almost couldn't bear the thought of going back through the maze of the sewers, which were sure to still be crawling with rats and ghouls. I chose the door.

Inside I found a few rats, and then came across another journeyman killer. He wasted no time in nearly ending my life with a poisonous enchanted sword. My last health potion saved me, and allowed me to end his life instead. But now I was without arrows .. and without health potions. It was time to go back and regroup.
