Immortal Words - Saurano Direnni

The Inner Sea - Afternoon

Looks like it's war for the Mehrunes Dagon cult. I found the daedric ruins after hiking north from Hla Oad. Well, I should say I found them, and then continued past them to another set of ruins before I realized my error. Wandering around the wilds of western Vvardenfell is dangerous enough without having to hang out in daedric ruins as well.

I did kill my first daedra, though. It was just a scamp, but it still got my heart pumping. I remember coming across a daedric ruin a while back, and having a scamp spot me. I'd never run so fast in my life. But this time I stood my ground, and cut it down.

There was a dremora walking around as well, and I spent a great deal of time trying to sneak past it. I finally did, but when I spotted a the stairs that led to further access to the ruins, I realized a very large storm atronach was blocking my path.

Having no idea if I possessed the ability to defeat such a creature, I opted to sneak as close as possible, and then sprint past him to the door. Luckily for me the door wasn't locked, and I was just able to get inside before he crushed my spine with his giant fists.

Inside a set of stairs led down, and in the dark I could see another dremora, with another figure of sorts beyond him. There was no sneaking past this one. I readied my bow and took careful aim, then let the arrow fly and learned the hard way that dremora are unaffected by common weapons.

It was too late, now, and I readied my sword for the fight. The dremora cast a shield spell on itself. Then it drew the largest sword I've seen in my life and charged me. My confidence faltered.

I struck first and he countered with a heavy blow. While he readied his next attack I was able to strike twice more, then felt the brunt of his heavy blade again. I tried to dance around him, and land strikes against his flank and back, but it wasn't work, and I was missing on some of my own strikes. My health began to fade so I stepped back and took a potion from my pouch. He assaulted me again as I finished it, but I felt renewed and rallied back with a number of counter strikes. It took some significant effort but he finally fell.

Not quite rested from my encounter, I pressed on towards the other figure. It was a man, not another daedra, and I was thankful for that. But my thanks shriveled as he spotted me and rushed to attack. I was hoping we could just talk, but he wasn't having any of that. A challenging duel followed but I left him bleeding on the ground as I continued on.

There was a large statue of Mehrunes Dagon in the inner chamber, surrounded by water, but no one else was present. I nearly gave up, until I realized that if I jumped at the right point I could clear the moat and gain access to a back tunnel.

This is where I found Carecalmo, who barely let me get three words out before he was ready for a fight. So a fight I gave him. I was unsure of his abilities, but I knew he was a mage. So right away I backed up and took a standard reflection potion from my potion pouch. I was expecting a challenging fight, and wanted the odds as close to my favor as possible.

As it turns out, Carecalmo was not so great at combat. He should have been less prideful and more mindful of his own abilities. Within a few short minutes his mistake had him choking to death on his own blood.

I took what I could and left the ruins and the western wilds behind. I'm now aboard the relative safety of a small ship headed to Vivec City. Looking forward to seeing some civilization again.

Khuul - Night

I'm back in the wilds of western Vvardenfell. Or I will be soon enough. After a short stay in Vivec, I received my new contract. I'm to recover a ring from a man named Anel Rethelas, who was last known to be hiding in a place called Yasammidan, another shrine to Mehrunes Dagon.

So after several days on a few different ships I've just arrived in Khuul in the dead of the night. There is nothing worth noting in Khuul. It is a simple fishing village and nothing more. I'll be lucky if I can find a proper bed to sleep in.

At first light I'll begin the trek to the shrine.

Yasammidan - Evening

Finding this daedric ruin was not easy. Not easy at all. And it doesn't help to have bandit ashlanders and beasts of the wild harassing me the entire way.

I found the old dwemer ruin that I was told to look for, but I couldn't seem to find a way past it. Eventually I headed down from the dwemer ruin and searched for a way around the water that juts in and out of the coastline. I finally found a way around and ran into another pair of bandits, and after dispatching them I fought off several more cliff racers before I finally spotted a structure in the distance.

It wasn't a daedric ruin, but the remains of an old farmstead. But just beyond it were the ruins I was searching for. And once again the water became an issue. These ruins are partially sunken it seems, and there was no route to the main ruins through shallow water. Luckily I had procured several water walking potions a while back, and still had them in my possession.

Before I could put them to use, though, I had to get past a very dangerous storm atronach. I kept a frost resistance potion at the ready, as well as a health potion. The atronach damaged me badly before I put it down, but the health potion saved me. I think next time I run into one of them I will make use of the resistance potion.

I surveyed the best routes into the ruin, if I can say there were any, and then drank down a water walking potion and made my way across the waves.

I was nearly into the run when I ran into a golden saint. I'd never fought one of these before. I've only actually seen one once before, and that was on my last quest. I've only heard the stories of what fierce fighters they were.

The saint spotted me and rushed out into the water with a large glass sword drawn, it's abnormal greenish hue unmistakable. As he closed in I quickly cast the enchantment on my belt, granting me temporary sanctuary and shielding powers. I also considered taking a reflection potion but at the last second decided against it.

He struck me first, and we battled it out in water up to our waists. My water walking potion had run out. Surprisingly, my skills were well-suited to the fight, and although I took a fair amount of hits I was able to persevere and defeat the saint.

His sword is quite nice. It's enchantment is not nearly as powerful as the one on my sword, but the sword itself does nearly double the damage aside from the enchantment. That could be very useful as I'm often left fighting without my sword's enchantment anyways. Not to mention the glass sword is lighter.

Darkness is coming, though, so I'll have to make this decision later. I want to find the entrance to these ruins before I can't see my hand in front of my face.

Yasimiddan - Night

On my way in I came across a flame atronach, patrolling in the dark. I froze in the shadows, the door to interior of the sunken ruins directly across from me. But the atronach was too close for me to run for the door.

So I waited. And waited. But the atronach seemed to know something was near it. It kept peering into the dark, trying to see what it knew was there. Finally I decided I had to make a move. I snuck forward to and to my left, to gain a slightly better angle on my target's back. And then, with a might thrust, I stabbed through him.

To my surprise he fell immediately. I never expected to kill a daedra with a single strike. It was an excellent and powerful strike, but still. Perhaps it was the glass sword. I know that it's frost enchantment is more effective against the likes of a flame atronach.

Inside the ruins I found a set of ancient stairs winding down into the depths. I ran across a daedroth, used my chameleon ring, and stabbed it in the back as well. Although it didn't die from the strike, the two following strikes finished the deed.

A short time later I came across a man in plate armor. I assumed he was a sentry, but upon my sneak attack I realized it was actually my mark. He put up a valiant fight, but his skills were no match for mine. In short order I had his life and the ring I sought.

Further inside I found the shrine to Mehrunes Dagon, and found a pair of dremora lords guarding it. I had no need to attack them, but I was feeling rather confident in my skills and wanted to test them further.

I managed to kill each of them, although I will admit that each fight was a worthy challenge. I learned from my father that a good swordsman will continually put their skills to the test. Very good advice indeed.

After searching the shrine I found several chests, most of which contained relatively little, but one of which had dozens of potions in it. Potions are light and valuable, not just in terms of selling them, but in using them as well. Something else I learned from my father. He always used to say that the edge of the blade deserves respect, but that potions and enchantments deserve admiration.

Now I'm outside and in the dark waiting. Morning will come soon, and will allow me to find my way properly out of the ruins. I have a water walking potion ready, but it's my last one and I don't want to waste it by getting lost in the dark. I'm leaving my old enchanted sword behind so that I can carry all these new potions. Some adventurer or disciple of Mehrunes Dagon will find it one day and make use of it.

Speaking of which, as I gazed at the giant statue of Mehrunes Dagon he spoke to me, offering for me to prove my worth to him. I have no allegiance for gods or deities, but I will admit my curiosity was peaked by the offer. No doubt some of that was the charm and cunning of the dark prince's words.

Instead of accepting his offer I bid my leave instead. I've no time to get wrapped up in the schemes of a daedric god. I have a king to kill and preparations to make to that end.

Vivec City - Midday

I've been betrayed.

My father told me to never devote my loyalty to anyone but myself. I should have heeded his advice. All this time Grandmaster Eno has been using me to advance his own agendas and achieve his own ends, and now, as my skills and abilities near his own, he's holding me back. He's refusing to advance me within the Morag Tong. He won't even give me any new work or duties.

I've made a critical mistake, and given the Morag Tong my loyalty. I've been risking my life for them over and over, and what have they done for me? Nothing. When I needed help with the Dark Brotherhood I was left on my own. And when I need help now with the king's assassination they will hear nothing of it. But they have no problem sending me to dive into dangerous daedric ruins to retrieve artifacts for them. I'm not even being paid for my efforts!

Grandmaster Eno has disrespected me, and that is the worst of all. I looked up to him. I revered him. I would have done anything for him. But he has stabbed me in the back for my dedication.

But I'm awake now, and I will stab him in the back in return.

Vivec City - Evening

It is done.

Before me lay the bodies of Serul Dathren, Taros Dral, Minnibi Selkin-Adda, Ulmesi Baryon, Rogdul gro-Bularz ... and Eno Hlaalu.

An hour or so ago I walked into the Morag Tong as if all was well. I made my way up to Grandmaster Eno's chambers, but stopped short where no one could see me, and prepared myself.

Eno was aging and although I knew he wasn't in his prime I also wasn't going to take an chances. I had no way of knowing what his actual capabilities were as I've never seen him in a fight. I also didn't know what sort of enchanted items he might have or what spells he might know. So I prepared.

The first thing I did was use my amulet of shadows. This rendered me nearly invisible. Next I activated the enchantment on my belt, to aid in my defenses, my amulet of might blows for increased strength, and my lifestone ring to bolster my health. I decided to forgo any potion usage for the moment.

I snuck around the corner, my body blending almost completely into the floor and walls around me. To my good fortune, Eno had his back to me. Perfect.

A few more quiet steps and I was within striking distance. I carefully aimed my blade, and drew it back deeply for maximum impact. Eno suspected nothing.

The first blow nearly killed him outright. It was perfectly placed. He turned to face his mystery attacker, but in all likelihood he never actually saw me. It's a shame in a way. I would have liked him to know who exacted their revenge on him.

Two more quick thrusts ended his life before he had the presence of mind to draw his dagger. Not much of a challenge for a grandmaster. No wonder he was trying to hold me back. No one is holding me back now. Not anymore. Not ever.

Next I went back downstairs and summarily executed the remaining members of the Morag Tong. With my enchantments active again, none of them presented a real challenge, except for Serul Dathren.

When I came face to face with Serul I was no longer hidden. My enchantments had worn off. He could see my face plainly and I could plainly see the confusion on his own face. I struck him hard with my glass blade, the frost enchantment long expired now. He took the hit hard, and jumped back, casting a number of spells on himself while drawing a large silver staff.

He struck back at me, and for the first time I felt vulnerable. It wasn't so much the pain of the strike, it was the fact that it paralyzed me. I waited, frozen like an icicle while he beat me with the staff. The moment the spell broke I moved away and grabbed at my potions. I was certain I had a paralysis resistance potion, but I couldn't find it. So instead I snatched a reflection potion and downed it as he turned on me with magic and spells.

I'm no going to lie. I took special pleasure in watching him unwittingly kill himself. I never even touched him with my sword again. He cast several spells at me, then readied his staff and started to dash around the alter to Mephala to strike me. As he was in mid-sprint his life ran out and he fell to the floor, not realizing he had just used his own magic against himself.

I suppose now I will dispose of the bodies. And perhaps in morning I will head out to pay a visit to another Morag Tong establishment. History will know me as the one who single-handedly destroyed the Morag Tong. And soon enough it will also know me as the slayer of King Helseth.

Vivec City - Morning

I've run into a complication. I must have missed someone in the Morag Tong, and allowed them to escape.

The moment I stepped foot into the arena's lower waistworks an ordinator spotted me and attempted to arrest me. I wasn't about to turn myself over to him. I have 6 murders to my name. I won't be rotting in a jail cell, I'll be losing my head to an axe.

I had no choice but to kill the guard. I couldn't let him arrest me. Ordinators are not easy opponents either, not with their mix of magic and weaponry. Dealing with one of them is one thing, but when I leave the waistworks I could potentially be facing multiple ordinators, not to mention anyone nearby who happens to want to help out the guards.

I may have to leave the city, and I may have to fight my way out.

Vivec City - Midday

Despite my predicament, I managed to make it out of the city without any further altercations. It took some doing, some sneaking around and some sprinting, but I managed to make it out without being spotted.

Now I'm going to board a silt strider to Balmora. I need to try and strike the other Morag Tong branches before word of my actions reaches them.

With any luck the silt strider will arrive in the night and I'll be able to sneak into the city.

Silt Strider - Morning

I arrived in Balmora in the early evening, so I quickly made my way off of the silt strider and hopped the wall to the outside of the city. I hung out for a few hours in the rocks nearby until it was sufficiently dark, and then snuck past through the gates under the cover of night and rain.

With minimal difficulty I was able to avoid the guard patrols and reach the Balmora Morag Tong. There was a guard nearby, so I used my ring to aid my stealthiness. Then I quickly used my other enchantments and dashed to the door.

What happened next was virtually a blur. I raced toward the nearest member with my sword drawn back, and ran him through before anyone realized what was happening. Another strong strike and he was dead before the others could come to his aid. There were three others, and I made very short work of each of them. I would describe the battle but it was over so quickly it hardly seems worth it.

The Morag Tong's end draws nigh ...

This dude is a bad man. Love this character, BIG, I think it's the first time one has really hit their stride.

Don't forget, he is a she, and yeah ... you could say she's breaking bad, lol. It's going to get even more interesting, though, with the huge bounty she's mounting on her head.

Oh, my bad! It's been so long since she was introduced!

Yeah I'm looking forward to more progression :)

No worries. It's easy for me to remember because she has to pee sitting down. d;-p

But yeah, honestly I was shocked that she was able to take out the first Morag Tong branch. I made the decision emotionally based on my character, but I thought there was a very good chance she was going to die. So happy she didn't, lol. I want her to kill the king!

I was just thinking that last night and remember how frustrated I was that so many characters in Skyrim (and even Oblivion) were unkillable. I remember spending nearly 30min trying to kill a character with Hrisskar before I finally paused and looked it up online and discovered that character was invincible. Laaaame!

Yeah, that's roughly reason #2214 why I want to move over to PC, for mods.

Ald'ruhn - Night

One Morag Tong sect remains. Infiltrating this latest one was quite difficult. There are many guards in the manor district. It required all of my stealthiness and cunning to finally gain unobstructed access to the Morag Tong.

Luckily for me they still hadn't received word of my deeds in Vivec or Balmora, and I caught them completely off-guard. The members were also spread throughout the Ald'ruhn hall, and I was pretty much able to fight them each one-on-one. Not one of them presented a real threat to me. I cut them down like fledgling trees.

It's a wonder the Morag Tong hasn't been decimated sooner, if this is the caliber of assassins they employ. I'm going to enjoy laying waste to the last of them.

Azura's Coast - Midnight

My reputation has outgrown me. I can't even arrange for travel without having to bribe the ship's captain or silt strider owner a couple hundred drakes. It would normally cost me a hundred coins or less to travel to Sadrith Mora from Ald'ruhn. Instead it cost me nearly a thousand.

But I made it to Sadrith Mora despite this. And I snuck into the strange old city after the sun had set. Given the terrain in and around the city, it was much more difficult to sneak in without being spotted. And even then, as I found the old mushroom where the Morag Tong were set up, a guard spotted me and came running. I ducked into the shadows and then scaled the stairs to the door of the Morag Tong, and without hesitation .. burst inside.

They must have been prepared for me. I stepped inside and found myself face-to-face with a Morag Tong member. It was very dark inside as well, as if they wanted to use my lack of familiarity with the premises to their advantage.

I cut through the first man and stumbled through the dark before finding a staircase. That led me to an upper level where I found three more Morag Tong, none of whom seemed to want a fight. Perhaps my reputation really is preceding me.

Nevertheless, they each fell to my blade and I barely took a scratch in the process. The Morag Tong is no more.
