NO! I personally hate those things, I got killed eating them just like that damned Jarrin root!!!

Haha but poisoned apples were fluffing epic. I loved saving a bunch of them and putting them all over towns. Watching guards and such die left and right as well as npcs. Epic.

I agree, once you figured out how to use them they are epic, but I was traumatized by my first several experiments with them

Just like every other quest in Skyrim, you're forced down one path. Me? I liked Astrid (up until she betrayed my character), and didn't care much for that ugly night mother. My character just wanted to be an assassin. You weren't even given the option to side with her.

In fact, how come those sh1tty writers at Bethesda thought it to be a good idea to force the Dragonborn to not only have JUST ONE option, but that ONE option is something only a moron would do?

Examples:

Pulling the lever in the dungeon with Farkas. Any POS moron knew what was going to happen when they pulled it, but it was the only option they gave you.

Being forced to immediately trust Karliah.

Selling your soul to Nocturnal even though you have no fxn idea what you get in return or what the hell she'll do with your soul. Stupid stupid stupid stupid

Not being able to kill Ancano until the end even though any half assed piece of shat moron too stupid to read would have done it before.

And let's not forget that Bethesda writers are too stupid to realize that if you're going to make NPC's talk trash, you should give the Dragonborn dialogue to call them out on their bullshat. And why is everyone talking trash in the first place?

You're the Dragonborn and these POS jarls sitting on their POS asses all day don't show respect to your character.

The writing in Skyrim is on the level of stuff I found in episodes of Barney, and I'm not exaggerating.

I completely agree. I really liked Astrid, up until she decided to sell you out to the Oculatus. That didn't even make sense, either. You are an assassin guild. A ruthless assassin guild. And you decide that the menacing, ruthless assassin guild is going to try to bargain with the Emperor's bodyguards for the menacing assassin guild's safety?

Are you nuts?

I wish they didn't have Astrid betray the Brotherhood, that made so sense at all. Or maybe if they let you defend and save the Sanctuary, that would've been alright. Then maybe the guild could come back together after fending off the Oculatus agents and then decide what to do with Astrid.

I really hate how the character is always forced down a single path. And the only other option is not doing the quest. I would like choices.

You don't even get any bounty for doing it, do you? Because they can't trace the apples back to you. I can't remember if you get bounty or not for it.

Yeah, Bethesda is pretty narrow-minded in that regard. I hate the one-path-only type options... I mean, come on, this is an RPG, they call it that for a reason. At least in most other games you get a choice. Even in Fallout (even though there's not really guilds) you DO get a choice in what path you take. Good or evil, what faction you side with, and so on. TES is definitely inferior compared to Fallout in many ways. Still, I adore The Elder Scrolls even with its flaws.

Would of been great if you could of restored the Black Hand, and gained a speaker.

I really liked how the Black Hand was tied into the DB with Oblivion. I really wished the DB in Skyrim hadn't abandoned the Tenets and the Black Hand, but then again, 200 years passed and a lot happens in two centuries. Since you do become the Listener though, I agree, I wish there was a way to restore the Black Hand from 200 years ago, AND make it even more stable and powerful. (Because we definitely don't want another incident like with Lucien Lechance, now do we? )

The Black Hand was active not that long ago, 4E 189. So twelve years ago.

Well I was commenting on Oblivion, that was 200 years ago, I didn't mean the last time the Black Hand was active... sorry for misunderstanding!
12 years ago... it wouldn't be that hard to bring it back, then. I wish Bethesda gave us an option for that.

Ah, I thought you meant when there was a Black Hand.

Yeah, some members would still be alive, they made Cicero Keeper and the Black Hand doesn't do assassinations, so they would live semi-normal lives... except for being the upper management for a guild of assassins who gets contracts from a corpse.

I thought it was neat how you could actually meet the members of the Black Hand in Oblivion. I liked how even after the Cleansing (MAN, Bethesda has a thing with killing off all the guild members... ) there was a Speaker, so you still felt in line with the Black Hand. In Skyrim, there's none of that. You're the Listener but there is no real tie to the Black Hand at all, which is disappointing.

The Dark Brotherhood quest was pretty strange, too.

If they wanted to make it more fun:

1. Side with Astrid or Night Mother

2. Make better uniforms. I'm not sure how anyone thought the DB uniform was good. Still scratching my head over it.

3. Add more prominent targets. Like Jarl Elisif, Balgruuf, etc.

4. Make it last much longer. If there were 40 assassinations (definitely doable) and a much larger build up to the Emperor, it would've been amazing.

I really need to get a PC

I Felt empty at the conclusion... I mean the gold was nice, but I didn't really spend to much more time there with the remanding members of the dark brotherhood after I finished it.

You make two excellent points there.

I would LOVE to have more prominent targets. Up until the Emperor's murder, there were barely any notable targets, aside from Vittoria Vici. Even just more well-known characters, even lower than Jarls, would have been interesting (Personally, I wouldn't have minded getting a contract against Nazeem. Sure, I always kill him, but I'd love to be paid for my eager blood-spilling. :P)

Next, I would love for it to last longer as well. In the Thieves Guild, you had many missions leading up to the final accost on Mercer. I think more assassinations (And no, I don't mean those so called "radiant" missions the Night Mother gives you. Those are so dumb) leading up to the Emperor's murder would have been fantastic.

I agree, I get bored with the Random nobody kills haha.

Bethesda made the questlines without even thinking about why someone would join the guilds in the first place.

Joins College to learn about Magic? - Sent to dungeons before my player even knows 5 spells. Wtf? I wanted to learn about Magic. Not go around caves looking for books, fighting draugr and falmer. If I wanted that, I would just go to the caves myself.

Joins Bards College to learn how to play the lute? - Bethesda too lazy to implement even 2 fkng music animations to character.

Joins Thieves Guild to steal and make money? - Drama, Daedric Lords, Batman suits and Falmer

Chooses Greybeards over Blades? - Word walls. Really? Word walls? Nothing else, at all? You old hermits are supposed to be mentoring me and guiding me on my path, and the only thing you've done is sent me to word walls? Is this a joke?

THIS.
IS THE MOST ACCURATE POST I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THIS FORUM.
Just... take my reputation points, my friend. Bra-fluffing-vo. *Slow clap*

(If I could... oops, I have to give it to 5 others first. Take a follow instead? :P)

this may be a spolier so beware
I wish the DB had the ending like the thieves guild, where you you were able to choose powers from a deadric god, like thieves guild offered you. and i never played the dark brotherhood in oblivion too far, so i missed out on the apples lol. But I will say this, the end of the db is pretty cool in the fact you get to keep on killing but it does get old fast. wish they had more stuff like the quest where you had to kill the bride in solitube...lol using the stone to smoosh her was pretty funny.

This. So much this.

I felt like I was just lead through the quests. No choices were made, just do what you're told and everything'll be good. Want a cookie, good boy/girl? How about a scratch behind the ear? That's nice, now go do ___ for me.

Also, Bards College. How hard would it have been to make a musical shout? Learn three words throughout your time there that do something like charm people/raise your bartering abilities. Sure, you can't play an instrument, but you'd get SOMETHING for your efforts, instead of just empty, unfulfilled wanting to be a bard.
