indeed, it seems they have become rivals although I wouldn't expect any magic displays from him, he doesn't like to show his full power to potential enemies

yeah, Edwin is showy sometimes but that is usually just pretty colors and flashy effects. He only brings out the big guns in really tough fights

Simus charges in wreathed in fire and casting some form of lightning spells with a flame atronach to provide ranged support. Then he procededs to chop people's heads off. Turning people to ash before they can react is his idea of subtlety.
