Is it me or is Nightingale armor useless?

I really don't like the nightengale armor. I only ever used it once for roleplaying purposes and ever since it literally goes straight on a mannequin. The enchantments are horrible, and it's not even worth it to have the ONLY cape in the game.

Woah, woah, woah! There is also the hammerfell garb and the vampire royal armor! And the first one can be enchanted as you please!

Totally had forgotten about those, I don't know how, considering how B.A. Hammerfell garb is. Thank you for the correction

Muffled Boots, 50% Frost Resist, +50 Fortify Stamina, +25% One-Handed Damage and 17% Illusion cost reduction.

How are these enchantments terrible?

They don't make sense as a set. Muffled boots + Illusion + Onehanded = Nightblade. Makes sense so far. Fortify stamina......... why? Frost resist.........isn't your goal to stay hidden and not get hit? No fortify archery even though there is a nightengale bow. These are my personal issues with it. For a specific character type, it definitely could be perfect enchantments, but for the most part, there are better enchantments and better armor sets out there. Combining that fact with how late into the thieves guild line you get it, it's mostly not worth it.

I like the look of Nightingale, But I'd rather have my own enchantments. I used mods to get a "blank" set. The only thing I didn't like about the vanilla is magic enchantments. I play strict dagger and bow, no magic.

Well if you find out you don't need the double backstab from the shrouded gloves, you are free to pick up the nightingale armor for the looks. I mean you do give up 20/35/55 % of bonus bow damage from your cowl(s), the resist poison, the fortify lockpick/pickpocket/prices, but sometimes you just don't need them. It's also a way to underpower yourself, which I find VERY fun to do as an assassin, who are easily overpowered later in the game.

I have 15% frost resist, 20 points of stamina and 15% one handed damage and lockpicking. When does it get higher?

You must have gotten it at a lower lvl.when you get it at higher lvls its enchants are higher

When did you get Nightingale? Enchantments are level dependent.

That's the thing though, you can't enchant armour so it fits every possible character type. And besides, there's still two enchantment slots (ring, necklace) that you can have + Archery on. If you could name a set of enchantments, that are balanced with other items in the game, that would suit every type of nightingale anyone might want to play, I'd be very impressed.

This is true. Making a set of armor that fits every character type is nearly impossible, I'm just saying that I felt that the Nightingale armor didn't fit a Nightingale truly. Missing archery and I still don't understand the need for the frost enchantment. As a set it isn't worthless, but it almost needs a build built around it, rather than being beneficial to a thief turned shadow warrior type.

Maybe it represents the cold of the Evergloam, or the shroud of Nocturnal, the Embrace of Shadows, etc? :)
