Killing with Runes

My question is...

I assume that rune damage can be improved with elemental perks and items, like say for instance one of the unique masks found in DB that increase elemental damage. Let's say I'm sneaky and take quiet casting and have the ability to lay down silent runes from far away...does anyone know if these will kill the enemy or just bring them down on me without doing much damage at all? This wouldn't be my primary way of taking out enemies, but seems like a fun way of doing it if possible.

I use ranged, augmented, Runes almost exclusively on my Destruction mages. I kill tons of stuff.

Yes, but can I one-shot stuff or will I constantly be laying a rune down, hit monster, back up, lay down rune, hit monster, back up...until the monster is dead? Or will I have to be content with just making the rune my opener then finishing them off with bow or sword or other spell?

There are a lot of factors. What difficulty? What kind of target? Your normal, weak draugr will usually fall in one shot. Most times you will need two to take down an average enemy, but if you range the Runes (5x the distance) you can easily lay a few down without backing up. Especially if you open with a Frost Rune as this will slow oncoming attackers enough for you to squeeze in a couple more if need be.
