It had been a long day for Geran, projects, contract and constant training with the recruits had almost strained Geran to actually caring about his work.
He could be a lazy man, but he never did anything without thinking it through, what he did was always supposed to be how he did it, but sometimes he didn't have any feeling of it.
The Guild was lowering on money, contracts were short and new recruits and there training was straining Geran to breaking point.
His Witchers and Lesser Masters had worked hard, only recently Jaygue had attended a contract for 5000 gold, getting 50% of the profits as was Guild policy.
The Guild rules for contracts could strain the men on money, but Jaygue was a man for himself, he did all contracts alone unless he really needed the help, which for him was rare.
Of course Geran had wondered where Jaygue was, he usually finished his contracts in a matters of hours, and yet time was ticking, and money was being stretched.
Geran had no thoughts of Jaygue being hurt though, the man had bested him in combat in a fair few training courses for the recruits, he was Geran's best Witcher, but the mysterious hulk of a man had no interest in the political affairs of the Guild, and would make a bad Lesser Master, but he made a brilliant Witcher Leader and trainer, and a good friend, though darker than Geran.
''People in the distant! 10 at guess, we need men on the walls at the courtyard gate!'' a Witcher Raider said as he opened the door to the main hall and dining room.
A few Witchers grabbed their bows and followed the man, Geran joining them as he ran into the courtyard, not going onto the walls, but behind the huge wooden gate that was the only way into the courtyard.
The Witchers raised their bows, aiming at the group, but all of them later lowered them after 10 seconds, and ran down to tell Geran of the news.
''Lord Geran, it's Jaygue, he has returned. He has company Sir, shall we open the gates, confront them or stay here?'' the man said in a rushed tone. ''We open the gates you fool, I trust Jaygue, if he has company they are our allies, if they attack us they die. But until then we treat them as guests and allies, standard rules apply. Anyone touches them in any way, and I'll throw you to the dungeons, clear?'' the Witchers banged their arms to their chests in a slanted position, so their arms tilted and reached their opposite shoulder. It was used as a sign of respect within the Guild.
A few Witchers then ran to the gate leavers, two men gripping the handles on each side of the handles, and tilted them as the heavy gate opened.
It made the stereotypical gate opening noise, nothing fancy, but nothing plain.
''Defensive line around Geran!'' a Witcher shouted as the group ''That won't be needed Witcher'' Geran said before they formed their line.
Geran stood high with a smile plucked among his face, it was nice to see his friend again, but he wondered who he had brought along with him.
What he really wondered was how a man could go on a Vampire hunting trip, and come back with a group of 10 people, Jaygue really was not a man who was predicable, Geran quite honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was a Dragonborn, for him it would be as exciting as buying some mead.
