Markarth Trouble

I recently arrived at Markarth and got a quest to investigate the murders around the city. When I completed it the guards said that i broke the law and was heading to prison. So i tried to run. At the end i had to cheat with the console menu to get out of the plops.
Now i can't go to the south-west sector of Skyrim and I can't complete many quests. Any ways out except going to prison? I can use Pc-cheats if there is no other way...

The quest you're talking about, I assume it's the Forsworn Conspiracy?
If so, then it's supposed to be like that, because at the end the guards pin everything on the Dragonborn (you), and if you go to jail then you'll start another quest, No one Escapes Cidhna Mine.

This, but when you complete No one escapes from cidna mine you will not be wanted anymore.

Thanks, but I don't actually fell for being in prison...

Despite the name of the quest, it's not that difficult to escape from Cidnha Mine, just talk to your fellow prisoners, follow their requests and you'll be out in no time. However if you have stolen goods then store them in your house before heading back to The Reach so they don't get confiscated by the guards. You get some sweet armor or a sweet ring, depending on who you decide to kill while in the prison.

I have the same dilemma, I killed the 3 guards from the Shrine of Thalos (the ones that murdered Eltrys) and I hoped that (being indoors) no one would suspect it outside.
But unfortunately I had to go to prison.

My only question is:

Will I recover ALL of my inventory when I finish the quest ?
I had all sorts of valuables in there.

Thanx.

Yup, you sure will, don't worry about that. Just go with it. :)

Yes, all of your inventory will be at the doorway leading outside for the escape.

Also, I read the best time to do it is very late at night, around 1:00-3:00 a.m. So very few local NPC's will be killed, just a couple of guard's.

Also, stay out of the fracas unless your aim is good when you fire at the Forsworn. If you hit a guard(s), they'll come after you.

Ok... looks like your opinions differ.
I sort of ... well... went with the flow.

SPOILER alert !

I did what it came to hand, and that was to mingle with the miners. So I found out that one wanted a shiv, the other something to drink, found them all and there I was, sitting face 2 face with the King of the Forsworn. He told me that we could escape, bla bla bla.
So I hepled him by killing a miner and there we went... OUT !

I was happy to reclaim my inventory from the forsworn, near the exit, so I bailed out of the city (in wich a riot was begining to take place).

Now I don't think I did something bad (for the story thread), because when I returned to Markarth there were the same old guards, with no busines whatsoever with me (thank God) and what was strange... well, in the good way... that a group of citizens (normal people) were addressing me great words when we met at the entrance.

Was this the normal way things were suppose to happen ?

More or less, even the Jarl will "apologize" for your wrongful imprisonment.

Some of the stories go different ways for different char's. And be glad you got thru', for awhile, a lot of people were having huge problems with that particular phase of the Forsworn Conspiracy.
