Miraak fight is genuinely harder than Karstaag and nobody talks about it

I just finished my first Dragonborn playthrough and Miraak absolutely wrecked me way more times than Karstaag ever did. Like, Karstaag is this big damage sponge but at least he stays in one place. Miraak keeps teleporting around, summoning those dragon priests, and I swear he was healing himself faster than I could damage him.

I was running a pretty standard sword and board build at level 48, not even optimized or anything. Took me like six attempts before I figured out you basically have to wait for him to land and then burst him down before he ports away again. The whole fight felt way more about memorizing his patterns than just out-DPSing him.

Am I just bad or does anyone else find Miraak way more annoying than the other endgame bosses? Karstaag felt like a test of whether your gear was good enough. Miraak felt like he had actual mechanics.

Nah you're not bad, Miraak's just a different fight. Karstaag is pure stat check - you walk in, facetank him, whoever has more HP wins. Miraak actually punishes you for standing still and rewards positioning, which honestly makes him more interesting even if it's more frustrating the first time.

The teleporting is the key thing. He's not actually that tanky if you're catching him between ports and getting your burst in. Sword and board at 48 should handle him fine if you're timing your power attacks right after he lands. The dragon priests he summons are more annoying than dangerous if you just ignore them and tunnel Miraak - they're there to interrupt your rhythm, not actually kill you.

That said, the healing is real and it sucks. He'll regen if you give him breathing room, which is why a lot of people cheese it by using Mayhem spells or just straight up avoiding the fight mechanics and letting summons do the work. Not saying you should, but if you ever fight him again on a different character and he's being a pain, that's always an option.

Karstaag gets talked about more because he's optional and way easier to cheese with summons or ranged stuff. Miraak's mandatory so everyone has to actually learn the fight. I'd say that makes Miraak the better designed boss, even if it doesn't feel that way when you're getting blasted.
