My reaction to "Meridia's Beacon"

Jamirus

Eater of random alchemy ingredients
So whilst fighting my way through a vampire lair, i found Meridia's beacon in a chest. I picked up. I had done this quest before but i was playing as a mage so the dawnbreaker would have been useless to me. So her dialouge begins.

"A new hand touches the beacon" My reaction: Problem?

"Listen" My reaction: Nope.

"Hear me and obey!" My reaction: Nope.

"A foul darkness has seeped into my temple." My reaction: We got a badass over here!

''A darkness you will destroy" My reaction: Bitch please.

"Take my beacon to mount kilkreath" My reaction: Nope.

"I shall make you the instrument of my cleansing light." My reaction: Sounds dirty. Megusta.

Funny, but dawnbreaker is still a good backup weapon for a mage especially against the many undead in the game.

Not when you still have one-handed at 15.

Better do something about that. You might get in trouble a lot later on in the game in close combat. Even a Mage cannot remain at a distance in some situations. Same thing goes for Archers. You might not use it that much, but if you ever find yourself in a cramped situation, you can still rely on that little dagger or sword you have with you.

Or i can just use a flesh spell. Problem solved. I'm in close ranged combat a lot. That's why i use spells like Fear or stoneflesh. Or i can just summon a Dremora using Sanguines rose. There's a lot of alternatives.

I agree with Jamirus re: not using One Handed with a Mage character. There's plenty of people who do hardcore role-plays and won't touch an actual weapon when using a Mage. Sure, it's a challenge, but sometimes that's the point. :)

Also... I actually laughed out loud at your OP, Jamirus. :P

I carry the Dawnbreaker with my mage, but I never used, never had to. When he's in-doors, I just summon a Dremora to be in the front and do the physical damage for him. But he's a mage, he likes shiny things.

In a list of the most annoying characters in skyrim it'd go like this.

1. Night mother
2. Cicero
3. Barbas
4. Meridia
5. Parthunax (mainly cuz of how slow he speaks. I mean, your cool but could you hurry the f***f up? The dragonborn has things to do)

There's also bound weapons as a last resort alternative, and they have any weight.

But you still need one handed skill to use them efficiently. Bound bow is pretty useful though.

Eh. Mages are already ranged. Bound sword/dagger provides better balance.
Getting back on topic, I was thinking "what the-? Lady, you really need to calm down. I'll cleans the temple, just give me something shiny."

Lol! Funny post. I kinda thought that too. xD

Buuut. Here's my modified version of your list:

Meridia's voice bothers me for some reason.
Wonder Woman hater! :p

even though i never use the dawnbreaker i always do that quest when it comes up, its fun as hell and their are a lot of goodies hidden in that temple. :D

Night Mother has an annoying voice too? Haven't heard her speak yet, but it's not hard to imagine. I hate to say it, but just about every aedra and daedra that have dialogue have dissapointed me with their voice acting. Hermaeus Mora especially bugs me, there's something about his voice that I just can't take seriously. Meridia's voice I've gotten tired of as well, every single character I've made finds that thing and has Lynda Carter's voice booming in their mind and causing heavy nose-bleeds. And just how many hands have touched that beacon? It's a filthy beacon.

agree with all but number 2.. i luv cicero, he's one the coolest followers on the game when u finish the dark brotherhood, has some downright hillarious dialog when you kill something.. dunno why so many hate him, but then again i dunno why so many are obsessed with lydia.. lol

I've gotten to the point where I find the beacon and leave it there, never to return to that location again so long as I live. Out of sight, out of mind.

You dare place Tullius on that list. Tullius has the most awesome voice ever, Michael Hogan.

I worship Tullius, I could listen to him talk all day long.

I'm just glad Ulfric wasn't on the list. As much as I may disagree with the man politically, I could swim in the flow of his voice. Vladimir Kulich is so amazing.
