Level 75 illusion = spam muffle

So true. I spam it whilst mining, great for magic recharge.

Edit: I don't know why there is no night eye spell in alteration, illusion, or even as a shout. I mean there are TWO shouts that copy the Bosmer racial, and it isn't even good! Night eye was way too blue in Oblvion and when Bethesda finally gets it right they limit it to just one race... lame...

Much agreed, Strife is amazing. It also is great dragon panic button so they can't get the pick up and kill special.
Excellent use for it. I play a lot of 100 Health builds, and use it pretty much like leveling up mid-battle for a full recovery. In a Dragon fight, you can slug away with it once grounded, then fall back when you get down to chompable health (It's a killcam, just like your's) and hit him for 100 health before finishing it off, if you need to.

Good point. I would suggest Khajiit for its Night Eye power as well as its Sneak, Archery, and One-handed bonuses. No other race makes quiet as good of an stealth build. Dunmer have Light Armor, Illusion, and sneak bonuses, but their racial power and fire resistance aren't quite as useful for a stealth build. I personally would choose Khajiit as they have have the initial damage boost, Night Eye makes archery ridiculously easy in dungeons and at night, and Illusion is one of the easiest skills to grind out if you need to do so, making the Dunmer Illusion bonus negligible.
I agree whole heartedly, if you're using Illusion (Nightblade) Dark Elf, if not (Assassin/Thief) Khajiit.

Why Night Eye? I have never even needed candlelight to see in dungeons and certainly never miss a shot. For RP purposes sure, but in practical terms?

Yeah, I've got brightness, and contrast settings on my monitor. You can do the same thing in the game settings, but it tends to saturate the screen in daylight. Just fine for my Vampire character ("It Hurts!")

This, I don't want to screen's contrast, but I would like to be able to see in the dungeons of Skyrim, which are all REALLY dark. A 60-90 second illusion spell would have been perfect for this, like the illusion spell for the master quest. Vision of the tenth eye is great, it just requires a whole lot of work for a torch that doesn't alter detection.

I honestly didn't need to adjust the settings, everything is perfectly visible.

I would suggest only starting the Nightingale Questline at level 35. Then you get the Armor at full power, Bow at 4th Tier and Blade at 4th Tier. Reason being... At level 46+ You've already done so much (unless you've powerleveled) And you can't temper the 5th Tier Blade due to a bug.

The Nightingale Bow is my favorite weapon in the game, so if I was going to be a Nightingale, I'd primarily use archery, and dual-wield daggers as back-up, with a side of Restoration magic for healing. To answer your questions:

1. In the Archery tree, all five Overdraws, Eagle Eye, both Steady Hands, and Power Shot. In the Sneak tree, all five Stealths, Backstab, Deadly Aim, and Assassin's Blade. In the One-Handed tree, all five Armsmans, both Dual Flurries, Dual Savagery, Fighting Stance, and Savage Strike. In the Light Armor tree, at least one Agile Defender, Custom Fit, and Matching Set (only if you're going to be wearing all Nightingale armor, all the time). And finally, in the Restoration tree, Novice Restoration, Apprentice Restoration, Regeneration, and Respite. This should put you at level 34.

2. I probably wouldn't. Calm spells are helpful for pure archers, as they give you a chance to get out of melee battle and hide again, but if you are going to dual-wield daggers (or swords) when the battle goes melee, you won't need them.

3. Mainly health and stamina, but put at least two into magicka so that, once you have the Apprentice Restoration perk and Fast Healing costs half, you'll be able to cast three Fast Healing spells before your magicka runs out.

4. I'd go with daggers, since they do double duty for you with the right perks—massive damage with sneak attacks, and pretty good damage in melee battle when dual-wielding.

5. With high archery skill and the proper archery and sneak perks, the Nightingale Bow will already be so powerful that you won't need this perk.
it would realy depend on wich sword you use.....nightingale swords arent good because you cant upgrade them but if yu use the dawnbreaker legndary(600+ damage) you would pwn with it......i(if you havent already) join the dark brotherhood and pickbocke this woman who is like the leader and you will get the balde of woe off of her then complete the storyline and you will get another blade of woe. but f your going heavy then get this massive hammer called Volendrung....

You can't Improve it at tier 5 (over level 40 something) Tier 4 has just as much Absorb health, and 5 less Absorb Stamina. However, that's just if you're Crafting, there's really no need with the full set, and you can keep your character level lower without the extra trees. This is important, because CL determines the level of the NPCs, so you can smith for more damage, but you end up needing it, because the enemies are tougher. And besides, Assassin is already a multi-discipline build even without throwing in Illusion, much less Smithy, Enchantment, and no doubt Alchemy to run crafting loops, and Fort Resto glitches. Unless you're playing on Master, you can do fine with just 1H, Archery, Sneak, and LA, if you're any good at Assassination to begin with. With Backstab bonuses, effectively doubling your level for extra damage you don't need is actually counter-productive.

Illusion isn't mandatory, because of the 2 effects you'd Need it for, Muffle is built into the boots, and Invisibility is doable with Shadow Warrior. Until then, you can use Vampire Dust (no need to mix it) the Shadow Stone, and Shadowcloak of Nocturnal the few times you actually need it. Honestly, Sneak is OP enough without it.

Skyrim Perk Calculator - Plan the perks for your Skyrim character before spending them! This is all you NEED. There's some other stuff that would be nice, but you can build off this foundation. Agile Defender(1) because you shouldn't be taking hits unless something went wrong, Stealth(1) because you don't need more than that to go undetected, especially in Muffled boots with such a good Bow. Steady Hand is great, in battle, but when the target has no idea you're there, and may be walking back, and forth on a preset path, you don't even have to lead them that much. Critical Charge to combo with Silent Roll (It helps to have Unhindered, and Wind Walker for this combo, since it's a Sprint+Power Attack) to burst from the shadows before they can react, great Ambush tactic.

You MIGHT want to add Alchemy, since that can do Paralysis, Frenzy, Invisibility, and so much else without ever using Magicka. Also, pick up Linwe's Hood, you have to do the TG quest anyway, and Fortify Archery is so much better than Illusion, even If you're using it. (More Damage vs less Magicka should be a no brainer every time.)

Destroy the Dark Brotherhood, for Nocturnal. One cannot serve two Masters without pissing them both off (Okay, you can in this game, but for Role Playing) and you can get the Blade of Woe without grinding up Pickpocket to Perfect Touch for 1 item. I didn't mention them, because this is a Nightingale Build, but the Shrouded Gloves really help out with the Nightingale Blade (tier 5) Even without Smithing, and Assassin's Blade, 12x Daedric damage with Armsman(5) + the Absorb Health is plenty for anything you can Backstab on Adept difficulty. For everything else (Dragons on the wing) you have a very nice Bow.

Volendrung is just bad advice. It has nothing to do with the Nightingales, (other than being in the Rift) is 2 Handed, so there's NO WAY to increase the backstab multiplier, and you have to kill Giants for Malacath, which is pretty much the opposite of the Nightingale's charter. I normally don't judge people's advice purely on the basis of retarded speling, and a complete, and utter lack of grammar, but it's justifiable when it's so downright crackheadded.

I think the idea around making Nightingale build, is to choose it's skills based around the enchantments of the Nightingale Armor, Bow and Blade. Not specifically choosing better gear, because then it's just another assassin build. The nightingale build is suppose to be unique, instead of a power hungry assassin.

Seriously. If that's what you're going for, then just do the Dark Brotherhood. It's a lot quicker, and they're actually Assassins.

I'm not building an assassin. I'm making a Nightingale. Its the previous poster speaking about Dawnbreaker and Wuuthrad doing 600+ damage.
