No Dragon souls after main quest?

Killing dragons like it's nobody's business.
Was he at a dragon site where you'd already killed one? Some of the ones at certain sites like word walls respawn but don't give you another soul.

Sometimes they glitch up. I once killed 3 ancient dragons in the middle of nowhere in one battle (DO NOT ATTEMPT IT WAS NOT FUN) and got no souls.
