First off, I'd like to say Hello! It is so great to have a forum to go to where I can see what people have to say about Skyrim, and a place where I can jot down my thoughts as well.
Now, I've come across a problem which I haven't been able to solve elsewhere on the web.
The Dawngaurd DLC offers an awesome amount of new game play. But as I found myself at the end triumphant over the forces that be, I realized I had missed out on a huge scene: the Ice Lake Dragon Fight with Voslaarum and Naaslaarum, triggered by attempting to learn the second word of Drain Vitality in the Forgotten Vale.
I was able to learn the second word of the Drain Vitality Shout, but was never confronted by the two Revered Dragons, and unfortunately, missed out on a key selling point of this expansion on my first and only current play through.
I approached the word wall from the northern point of the lake, which may mean that I did not step in the right area of the lake before learning the word, and thus the fight with the dragons never triggered. These are my suspicions, as every video of this fight I have seen is triggered by the Dovahkiin approaching the word wall from the south, not the north from the wayshrine.
Am I never to see that fight with that character? I've already beaten the main quest with him, so I'm not sure spawning the dragons will work.
Now, I was able to hunt down the two dragons' console I.D. numbers to spawn them with the console, and it worked. However, they were not scripted to plunge into and out of the ice (they behaved as two regular dragons landing on the ice and hovering just above it), which is the unique aspect of the fight and entirely the reason I desire to play through it. (I was thoroughly sad when I realized I had missed it
)
I could use another character to get to that point in the Dawnguard content, but as much fun as the whole Xpac is, I really like playing the game and not rushing through. Especially if it's just to get to one fight.
Thanks so much for reading and I really appreciate any time and effort you all put into thinking of a solution or even just passing along a known solution to my issue. I hope that this helps any others that may have encountered this same situation. Thanks again.
