Quest Completion Issues !

Now, this is a serious issue:

I can't complete some miscellaneous quests, among those are (paraphrasing):

- Give Esbern a Dragon bone and a dragon scale.

- Taking down the Skooma operation in Riften.

That last one is a little troublesome since it's not allowing me to become Thane of Riften, both quests share the same issue when I mark them on my questlog, which is that both do not show up in the map, I select them, but I get no pointers about where should I go.

Give me hope friends ! Tell me I can do something about this !

Yes, I've seen this too. I've a whole slew of miscellaneous quests that haven't registered as completed. I think it happens when two quests overlap each other. For instance the Bard's guild. I've completed a few quests from there but the one quest still remaining is to "visit the Bard's guild".

Do you know the location name? If you do, you can find where they are via Goggle. I have a few "broken" quest, Arcwind Point, Foresworn (Markarth), and a couple of others. I was supposed to get another Power Word doing the Jagged Crown, but never got it. I called Bethesda, and they're supposed to be working on those (I also hope something for us widow's and widower's). Apparently the programs written in the game have become "confused" or mixed up.

I get a few quest's that the controller won't point a location, so I generally look it up, or use the map on the Skyrim app, and find it. By now tho', I know the general location of most of the communities and cave's.

So we should assume then that this is a Hearthfire problem ?

I think the quest specifically has to do with Cragslane Cave, thing is, I had cleared the cave days before, so when I came back, barely three guys were in there, and when I killed them, it never registered as "complete", and so, no title and no house for me in Riften.

As for finding Sibbi's ex, well, haven't tried that one directly, it might work if I go to Ivarstead, but I'm not sure.

Yeh, I just ran into another "glitch". I was to do a bedlam job in Riften, so, I went into Maven's house and wasn't harassed as I walked freely around inside (Maven is in charge, more or less of the Thieves Guild in Riften). Wee, I found an "expert" door, got curious and unlocked it, only to find that Maven has been praying to the Dark Brotherhood. And I also found a letter indicating she's also secretly working with the Imperial's (after they were run out by me and the Stormcloaks).

Nothing showed up on my quest log of these two very incriminating letter's, so, I wonder if I got ahead of something or what. And, there was a band of bandits hiding in that one house with the secret ramp to get inside. Obviously someone at Bethesda isn't keeping up or something.

Try this: You said you killed 3 bandits already. Go do some other quests, and revisit Cragslane Cavern after 30 days have passed (the normal respawn time). If there are only 3 again, you'll have to repeat this. If there are more than 3, you should be fine. Either way, once you have killed a total of 7 bandits (the number that would have been there had you not previously cleared the cave), the quest should update.

As for the Esbern quest, I'd need more detail as to what you've done so far in order to help.

Thank you friend ! I'm not sure at all if 30 days have passed since I last entered the cave, but I'll check it out now to see what's up in there.

As for Esbern's quest, it's part of the miscellaneous quests you get after reforming the blades, he makes the dragon infusion beverage after I give him a dragon bone and a dragon scale, but then it shows up in my miscellaneous quests that I can still bring him more, thing is, when I do so.............nothing happens.

I also have this issue with Sibbi's quest to find his girlfriend, it doesn't mark on my map, but I haven't yet checked if it can be done or not, so maybe it's just the marker which is bugged.

Off-topic question: Is there any way to check how many hours you have played the game ?

Well, for Esbern's quest, it sounds like you finished it, it just wont leave your quest list. This sometimes happens and you just have to deal with that quest being listed as unfinished. If youve already gotten the potion from him, then I dont think theres anything you can do.

As for Sibbi's quest, it sounds like youve gotten the quest, but theres no marker for who his fiance is. Correct me if Im wrong. If it is, Im not sure if this will work, but the girl youre looking for is in Ivarstead in Vilemyr Inn, named Lynly Star-Sung. Try talking to her to see if the proper dialogue options open (should be asking if her name is Svidi).

Thanks friend, similarly enough, I have another issue with the "Visit The College Of Winterhold" quest, in this one, the marker directs me to speak with a female Altmer mage (Not Faralda), but when I do, nothing happens except for her usual lines of dialogue, and the quest remains listed.

I've just run into a quest (deceiving the herd), when after I kill the "main" NPC listed, I cannot plant the letter on them. Tried it several different ways, even as far as going to my last completed quest (ancient power), and have been sent to 3 different places (whenever I have returned to the last completed quest from Castle Volkihar). After trying White run, Windhelm and Solitude, I called Bethsoft, and was told to start a completely different char, and to quit this one. WTHeck? Why should I quit on a char I've been working so much on? This ain't WoW! If I wanted several different char's, I'd be playing WoW, not Skyrim.

Ya spend your $$$ and then get told to drop the work you've done and start another? That's something a kid would do! Quit and go on to something else! Heck, of that's how Bethsoft wants to do things, well....I just don't know.

Well, after several fails, I managed to end in Whiterun again, and was able to complete (I got several side quests before getting Deceiving the herd again). Thing is, if given a disguise, why would the char be recognized, as well as a bounty attached? It doesn't make much sense if in disguise, recognized, then an attached bounty. But then.....Bethsoft?
