Requiem turns stealth into a resource management game and I can't go back

I've been running Requiem on my third playthrough and honestly it's ruined vanilla stealth for me. Not in a bad way, but like... once you realize that getting caught actually has consequences beyond "reload quicksave," sneaking becomes this whole different thing.

In vanilla you can just crouch-walk through a dungeon and if you get spotted you fast travel out or reload. In Requiem you're actually managing your position, your stamina, whether you can afford to be seen. I had a situation in Bleak Falls Barrow where I got detected by one draugr and had to immediately break stealth and fight because running would've alerted the whole room. That never happens in base game.

The thing that really gets me is how it makes you respect the stealth archer fantasy instead of just... being invisible. You're not a ghost, you're just a person trying not to be seen. If you mess up positioning or get greedy with loot you pay for it.

Anyone else feel like Requiem's philosophy about consequences actually fixes more of Skyrim's design problems than people give it credit for? Or am I just stockholm syndrome'd into liking harder games at this point.
