Restoration potions scaling weirdly—why is my healing suddenly useless at level 35?

I'm on my second playthrough (PC, USSEP), level 35 right now, and I just noticed my healing potions barely tickle my health bar anymore. Early game they were keeping me alive through everything, but now a basic potion heals like 40 health when I'm sitting at 300+. I've got some alchemy perks (Alchemist rank 2, Physician), but nothing crazy. Am I supposed to be crafting my own potions to keep up with scaling, or does the game just expect you to switch to something else at this point? Feels like I'm missing something obvious because potions were so reliable before.

Yeah, this is actually vanilla Skyrim behavior—potions don't scale with your health pool, they're flat heals. So a potion that heals 40 HP will always heal 40 HP whether you're level 5 or level 50. Your max health went up, the potion didn't, so it feels useless now.

The game expects you to either craft stronger potions yourself (which scales with your Alchemy skill and perks), buy the high-tier ones from alchemists, or honestly just stop relying on potions as your main survival tool. By mid-game most people switch to damage mitigation—better armor, resistances, healing spells, or just not getting hit.

If you want potions to stay relevant without modding, you need to actively level Alchemy and grab perks like the one that increases potion effectiveness (Physician is a start, but there's a better scaling perk further down that tree). Crafting custom healing potions with the right ingredients will give you way better results than vendor trash. Or if you're on PC and want potions to scale automatically, there are mods that fix this, but vanilla? Yeah, you're expected to adapt your build.
