Replaying A Night to Remember and I'm genuinely struck by how dark it actually is if you pay attention. Like, on the surface it's this goofy romp where you wake up hungover and have to piece together a night you don't remember - classic drunk quest, right? But the more you dig into what Sanguine is actually doing, the more it feels like he's deliberately trapping you in a cycle.
You're not just cleaning up after a party. You're literally being manipulated by a Daedric prince into doing increasingly worse things (the giant's club, the witch's head, the goat) and the whole time the game frames it as comedic. But Sanguine doesn't care about the chaos - he cares that you keep coming back. He's got you hooked on the idea that there's no real consequence, that it's all just a laugh.
And then at the end when you finally confront him, he just... gives you the rose and lets you go. He doesn't need to fight you. He's already won because now you know exactly where to find him whenever you want that rush again.
I think ESO's Sanguine content actually misses this entirely. It plays it way too straight and comedic. Skyrim's version is genuinely uncomfortable once you sit with it for a second.
