Should I get Oblivion?

Hey guys. I'm a little new to the world of Elder Scrolls and Skyrim is the first game in the series that I have played. I was wondering if I should ever get Oblivion? I will be getting it for the Xbox 360 if I do get it. My friends tell me to forget about it and just go with Skyrim, but I really want to give Oblivion a shot and maybe the other games in the series.
 
I recommend getting Oblviion. You can get the game of the year edition for like $6 used on amazon. There are some features and quests that you might even like more than their equivalent things in Skyrim. The Fighter's guild and Dark Brotherhood quests are better (in my opinion) than the Companion's and Dark Brotherhood quests in Skyrim. Cyrodil is a big place and there is a lot to do and explore; and the deciduous forests, wooded lakes, and rolling hills are a nice change of pace from the ecosystems in Skyrim.
 
Yea the guilds are much better in oblivion I think. Also if you like conjuration, you can conjure such better and more cool things.
 
Definitely get Oblivion. It's not as good as Skyrim, but is still great fun to play and is similar in many aspects. You can get it pretty cheap now, and although the graphics may be a little outdated your still bound to get hours of fun out of it.
 
Yeah it's one of my all time favorite games ever. It is very similar to Skyrim, so you should get the hang of it really fast. Skyrim is still a better game imo, but Oblivion is worth a play through, also, you should play Morrowind as well, pretty awesome game.
 
I highly recommend it, it is one of my favorite games, I still play it.
I would recommend getting Oblivion and Shivering Isles, maybe Nights of The Nine.
 
Absolutley! I am currently playing it, kinda a noob, lvl 10 but love it. I bought the Legendary Edition of Skyrim (Xbox 360) on Amazon and just got it last week but haven't even opend the case because I'm so into Oblivion right now. Lots to do and see, great quests and the graphics are nice for being an older game.
I can't compare it in anyway to Skyrim though as I have never played it, but from what I've read it's almost as good...

No, Im just saying they are being ignorant for hating on oblivion when they probably haven't even played it. And the majority of people nowadays are graphic whores

^^ Well if the graphics and as some say the game play is that much better, I can't wait to dig into Skyrim! But I'm going to do as much as possible in Oblivion as I can first, that's for sure!
 
If anything get Oblivion for the Story and the Lore so you learn more about Tamriel, you meet Both Uriel Spetim and Martin Septim in an Age before the Dragons returned, you get to witness what outside of Skyrim looks like
 
Oblivion is great game. There is some very memorable quest, which are refered in Skyrim.
Graphics whores should play in PC. Only problem is face models. Even then, You can use Facegen files to You character.

I'm sometimes Graphics Whore myself too. I just downloaded 7 GB textures to Skyrim because official HD textures isnt good enough.

I have palyed olivion in PS3 and Xbox 360. I still have those disc's and I wont sell those (PS3 oblivion characters is 46 level).

Get it Oblivion is Awesome, the lore from it can explain a lot about skyrim and you get to see cyrodiil
