Skyrim is for the nords!!

Sometimes in high school cross country, they had the 5K Inferior Race. I was in it. Cuz I run like a fat kid.

Fat and a ginger! Talk about inferior!

Lol that made me laugh, and yes you are right there are no inferior races they are all very well made, that's just my "in game" characters opinion, when I'm not a nord (which isn't very often) I play as a breton. There great.

I'm definitely partial to Nords, but I think that's mostly because I adore my Nord character. She's the only character I enjoyed enough to craft an entire story around, which I'm now writing as a fanfic. So, I'm pretty attached to her, and that attachment has spilled over into love for Nords in general.

Also, it makes sense to me to be a Nord in Skyrim, since the Dragonborn is a Nord legend, after all.

I think it's pretty much established any race can be 'Dragonborn', even if it's a Nordic Legend. Uriel Septim VII and Martin Septim are Imperials, but because they are of the Septim line, are considered to be Dragonborn as well.

??? Does that mean that as dragonborn that your character is of the septim bloodline? And in line to the throne?

There are other Dragonborns than just the ones of the Septim bloodline. Your character is merely the first one to appear in quite some time. That's all.

Oh I know, I just feel that a Nord Dragonborn fits nicely since the legend itself is Nordic.

I didn't know the Septims were Dragonborn, though. (Well, except Talos.) Neat!

ETA: Actually hold on. Weren't the Septims all descended from Talos? In which case, would they be part-Nord?

The Dragonborn is pretty much like The Nerevarine. In regards that they can be of any race and of any gender. Canon aside, this just makes sure no one feels limited by being forced to use a certain race to experience the full package.

That's a good point, wouldn't that make a nord the founder of the empire aswell? Imaginpageant is right, it should be a nord to be dragonborn especially since its a nordic legend

Aside from the Bretons, there are no 'mixed' races. For whatever reason, in Elder Scrolls lore, children of two different racial parents, the child would be the race of the mother.

Also, it seems that even Tiber Septim had his ancestry come into question:

Known under the names Tiber Septim, General Talos, Hjalti Early-Beard, the Dragonborn, and Ysmir, Tiber Septim was an emperor of Nordic descent who became one of the most famed figures in Tamrielic history, reigning as Emperor Tiber Septim from 2E 854-3E 38.[1] Tiber Septim started his career in service under the Cyrodiilic king Cuhlecain and was known as General Talos. In this role, he fought to unify Cyrodiil and finally all of Tamriel, an effort that culminated in 2E 896 with the birth of the Third Empire.[2] He is also responsible for declaring the onset of the Third Era in 2E 897.[3] He ruled for 81 years and is considered by many to be the greatest emperor throughout history. Tiber Septim gave his name to the lineage of Cyrodiilic Emperors, the Septims. Tiber is now revered as one of the Nine Divines under the name of Talos,[4] which means "Stormcrown".[5]
(There are conflicting accounts of Tiber Septim's birthplace, ancestry, and original name. Below are both the officially sanctioned history and the version outlined in The Arcturian Heresy)

And this is interesting to note:

Tiber Septim had one child with an unknown woman, and this child in turn had one son - Pelagius.[5] Some sources claimed, in apparent error, that Pelagius was Tiber Septim's eldest son.[6] Late in life, according to other sources, he had an affair with the Dunmeri Queen-to-be, Barenziah, and had her unborn child aborted.[7]

So while Tiber was possibly a Nord, his children may not have been. And since the Septims are Imperials by the time of Oblivion, somewhere down the line there was a shift in the race. And Tiber Septim had an affair with a Dunmer as well, that's interesting.

That is interesting, and I may be getting mixed up with someone else but didn't he's royal battle mage Jagar thorn impersonate him for a while?

Whaaaaaaaat! That's... strange.

Off topic, but something I've never understood is how Bretons can be the shortest race when they are a hybrid of the two tallest races on Tamriel.

Oh, Bethesda. Shirking logic everywhere they can.
