Skyrim is for the nords!!

Well Bretons are the intermarried mixing of the Aldmer and the Nedes. The Aldmer would become the Altmer, and the Nedes were absorbed into the modern human bloodlines. Nothing is overly known about the Nedes, so they could have been short.

My character is a Nord, it wasn't for any reason other that it felt right. My character has wandered around Skyrim killing anyone or anything which has had the temerity to attack him or have him killed. I avoided the Imperial/Stormcloak issue for a long time - right until last weekend when an Altmer assassin attempted to kill me. I read the assassin's note which said that I was a danger and the Aldmeri Dominion had decided that I should be killed on site. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but they can get the hell out of Skyrim now. Remember this - I hadn't attacked any Justicers unjustifiable arresting innocent citizens, but now I free them all. Kill em all !!!!! Skyrim belongs to the Nords !!!!!

Yeah, Imperials and Bretons FTW. My first play-through was with an Imperial, which was awesome on many levels. Been playing a Breton since then. I never had the slightest desire to play as a Nord, and will likely not do so until I have the urge to play as one of every race. Which may happen at some point. But I won't be a Nord before then. They do nothing for me interest-wise, except the few that do.

The Imperials have long fascinated me for the Roman echoes and Bretons I have come to love for their unique traits. Not knocking the Nords as a race, they just don't call to me like the others do.
I plan to roll an Imperial next and can't wait (embracing my inner Roman history nerdiness).

Plus, my hat goes off to General Tullius.

All my characters are Nords. Well, not really, but some of the NPC dialogues address all of them as Nords.

Arcadia thinks EVERYBODY looks like a hearty Nord.

Hey, another Roman history nerd! YES! <3 I'm a Roman historian in training, lol.

And hell yeah, I love Tullius. He's damn awesome. :D

I'm always a wood elf. They're awesome and as for Tullius...his blood stained the ancient stones of Castle Dour that glourious morn. Skyrim is free from an already dead Empire....

Guys quit bringing the stormcloak-imperial issue into this, this is about races not what what the races represent or fight for.

as for me I've played Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, so needless to say i know the elder scrolls universe like the back of my hand. My favorite races are the Bretons and the Khajiit.

I like the Bretons because of there versitility as assasins or mages and their Nede-Aldmer pedigree. and just for the record, Nedes and Nords are the same thing, Nede was just the name of the first Nords that came from Atmora before being killed by the falmer and then returning with Ysgramor as the Nords, so no they were not short. anyways the bretons are interesting because they have had to deal with being conquered 5 times. and not only have they survived but they have thrived. that makes them a solid candidate for best race.

The Khajiit, while in game being really only good as thieves, outside the game are the most versatile race in Tamriel. The Khajiit in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are of the Suthay-Raht breed, while the Khajiit in arena and Daggerfall are of the Ohmes breed, which has no fur and is similar in appearance to the Bosmer of Valenwood. What the hell am I talking about you ask? well if you know about Khajiit you know that their form is determined by the phase of Nirn's moons, Masser and Secunda. Which can range from the elf like Ohme, the short furry far more cat like Suthay and Suthay-Raht to the tall muscular felines the Cathay and Cathay-Raht. this is not even mention the more exotic breeds of Khajiit, which are are more similar to house cats or lions.

DEATH TO THE STORMCLOAKS!

they're damned racist, damned racists can go to oblivion

Damn another ignorant imperial supporter spreading lies against the stormcloak. I have you know that my current character is a HIGH ELF (Most of my characters are nords).... Yes an Altmer.... you know the Thalmor race.... and guess what? I went to join with the stormcloaks and Galmar gave me no lip about joining. He treated me as equal So your theory about them being racist is a fallacy.

The only racist that I see here are the imperials. When my Altmer character went up against Hadvar in Helgen awaiting to be executed he question my appearance by asking me "You're not with the Thalmor Embassy, are you High Elf? No, that can't be right..."

I usually stick to the Beast Races, or occasionally a Mer. Seriously, who wants to be a boring human character in a Role Playing game? I sure as hell don't. The only time I've played a human race is for specific Role Playing by implementing one of my own characters into the world of Skyrim. If I had to pick a human race, Imperial for the win. They are so versatile.
What? You can't stand the sight of a strong nord woman? :)

I'm sorry but I don't really see how asking you if you're apart of a known faction to your race is racist. And Thalmor isn't a race it's a name for the elven government in the Aldmeri Dominion which is made up of all mer races not just Altmer. Altmer are just the most common one. Also, the only reason Galmar isn't extremely racist to the race he deems responsible for the banning of Talos is because the developers made it that way as to not limit your freedom in what you can do in the game. So in all game mechanics aside Galmar is just as racist as any other Stormcloak you may happen to come across.

Yea, if you watch and listen closely the stormcloaks aren't racist at all. Sure they resent the imperials and the aldmeri dominion, but that's because they ban the worship of talos.
They're not racist against the Dunmer either, well they kind of are, but not without good reason, they don't like dark elves because they don't help the stormcloaks, yet they still live there and expect rights when they won't fight for them. If they don't like it go back to morowind. Oh yea "lizard men" *facepalm*

That's okay, Ulfric's bloody body decorates the Palace of the Kings. But that's another thread, eh? ;)

The more I think about it all, the more I just can't bring myself to play as a Nord. Just...can't. Not sure what it is. And this isn't even about Imperial vs Stormcloak for me. There are Nord characters I really like who fight for the Empire. It's just that Nords in general don't interest me. Meh.

why do people keep bringing up the civil war? for the last time not every nord fights for the stormcloaks and not every imperial fights for the empire so stop acting like the civil war matters.

Well, that's more about gameplay than anything. It would have been foolish for Bethesda to make a game where the player can only join major factions and questlines if they were playing a certain race.

However, there are two noted Altmer living and working in Windhelm: Niranye and Nurelion. Niranye has an open market stall and owns a house in the main part of the city. Nurelion is a respected alchemist who runs the alchemy shop (I believe for quite a few years), and is freely vocal about his belief in the Eight Divines—that is, his belief that Talos is not a Divine—yet is apparently given no hassle whatsoever. There are also two Altmer who run the Windhelm Stables, Ulundil and Arivanya. If Ulfric's issues with elves were stricly about race, why would he let all these Altmer run around his city?

Going back to the original topic, though, I'd just like to remind everyone of this: prior to Ysgramor immigrating from Atmora and taking Skyrim over for the Nedes, Skyrim was inhabited by elves. So, is Skyrim really for the Nords?

I realize this is the case. And it's something I appreciate. For me, my liking of races has nothing to do with civil war allegiances. It's always been a matter of personal taste. I know the thread seems to be getting hijacked by civil war talk - there are definitely many other threads for that, lol!

Well jman has a point. I did start this thread about my love of Nords, and docta is right too, there's plenty of other threads for the civil war....soooo bk to topic. What is it that makes a Nord your preferred or least favourite race to play, I like em cus there big, strong, for the most part brave and honour bound, and that 50%cold resistance is great. They just make the ideal Knight in my opinion, what about yours?
