So.. Do we think there will be another TES?

I doubt that they wouldn't make another Elder Scrolls game. I'm looking forward to a new Fallout game more then a new Elder Scrolls, but Elder Scrolls:VI is just below it.

Me too. This new survival horror game threw me a curve, though. I just hope that it won't delay Fallout 4 too much. I'm aching to have my Pip Boy back.

Yep, I was sure those teasers Bethesda were throwing out were for Fallout :(

My posts from yesterday came from an especially low point, when I was on the wrong side of a very similar decision. I vented a lot of that embitterment on poor Skyrim. I truly hope that they do make another single-player TES, and I think if any company has the stones to bet that art can turn a profit, it's Bethesda. The world really is a better place (both the real world and these imagined ones) when artists are given leave to create what they will.

I'd love to see the next TES take place a couple centuries after Skyrim, so we can read about the culmination of these events as history, maybe visit the tumbledown ruins of the places we know and love, destroyed in the war or by dragonfire. Of course, half the places in Skyrim are already ruins, so maybe it wouldn't be that different :D

The Evil Within shouldn't have any impact on a Fallout production, as it is another division developing it. Like with TESO.. So the "big project" bethesda has been teasing about is not The Evil Within. They are working on something bigger, which I believe is the next Fallout game.

I agree with others who are convinced that long before another large undertaking, we'll get more and maybe larger DLC's to generate revenue and hopefully keep us hooked.

Reading the UESP wiki on April 15 says,

"In a post on BethBlog today, Bethesda has announced that the Skyrim development team will no longer be working on the game, and instead are moving onto their next project. Pete Hines has confirmed that this is the end of any future DLC for Skyrim. Minor game updates may still be released."

Guess that dashes that hope.

Me I'm looking forward to TES VI, started this series on Oblivion and when a friend mentioned the 11.11.11 release of Skyrim in 2010 or early 2011 I waited like a kid outside an occupied restroom dancing around 'til December to get it.

Looks like you're right. Well, now I feel a whole lot better.

Given how many years it between IV and V, I do assume another ES game will be had. We have no idea what they will do in 3-4 years let alone 1-2.

Just wait (and hope) and drink coffee...

and hope for a continent wide game too.

That will never happen. and infact you really wouldn't want it to happen.

You have to think about how much Time and resources they have to spread out to make 1 game:

Would you rather have 5 large cities spread over one province with 20 unquie NPC's giving quests, having backgrounds, and dialogue?

Or

Would you rather have 5 large cities spread over Nine provinces with 20 unquie NPC's giving quests, having backgrounds, and dialogue? (That leaves 4 provinces without any cities, NPC's, Quests, etc).

Of course you could 9 cities ...that look very cardboard and only have 2 npc's to interact with if any in each city, but if you want All Provinces the Size and complexity of Even Skyrim, then it would be 9x the time to make Skyrim......... ...so it would released in about 45 years.

Again, the next gen resources won't be used to make a whole Tamerial that feels very small..... it will be making a new province we haven't seen yet, and Make it feel even bigger, and more complexed than Skyrim.

Every Elderscrolls game made is Lorewise alot Bigger than they could fit into a game. (1 game day to walk across a province that is suppose to be the size of Texas anyone?). You would more want the better tech to make a province even bigger... Not make it smaller to get more provinces in it.

..and to this thread,

after Daggerfall, I said "F... this franchise" because I thought they would just try to go with a single dungeon crawl from then on out when Battlespire came out,.. and thought "No New Elderscrolls Game"

after Morrowind, I thought "That was Awesome but they Won't repeat that. Why would they?"

after Oblivion, I read their response to a "Summerset Isle" Elderscrolls sequeal by saying "No we don't for see another Elderscrolls game, but an MMO might be in the works"... and hung it up.

after Skryim though .... They HAVE to. Simply HAVE to. I Never would have amagined so much new love and Fandom for the Elderscrolls series as I've seen happen with Skyrim. It still floors me.

If they are going to Launch a total new platform of a Typical MMO using the name "Elder Scrolls" to make it Popular...

...They will Launch another Elder Scrolls game because it is so Popular

I assume the PS4/Next Xbox would be the standard platforms then (and depending on how long they wait maybe another generation?) so the capabilities would be much higher. The NPC problem could be fixed by not making a "central" quest theme. I don't know why you think it would take 45 years to make a game "9x" the size of skyrim. Skyrim is one of the larger territories on skyrim and it's been completed already.

In the past if you wanted to own your own house, you would have to cut the lumber, shape the frame, construct air flow upon numerous other things until it would be finished and ready. Now, you can get a realtor to walk you through a house and if you decide it's right it could be yours in a few days. Technology improves faster than anything, just look at computers.

I guess my Point didn't get across correctly. I'm saying that if Bethesda had wanted to create the Elderscrolls Game we are playing right now to be across all of Tamerial instead of just skyrim.. we wouldn't get a HUGE Game where each province is as big as Skyrim ...we would get Tamerial as big as Skyrim and each province would be as big, and as complexed as ...say ..Riften and it's small surrounding area. I'm saying they put everything they can and (and even can't) into each of these games when they make them. They usually even start developing it for what Graphics and rendering might be available by the time the game comes out. (although not too sure about skyrim on that one, but on Morrowind and Oblivion they did do this)

Not sure what you mean by the "own your house" analogy. Some one still has to "Cut the Lumber, shape the frame, cunstruct air flow, etc" before a realtor walks you thru it. Infact, if there isn't someone doing this then you are only going to walk thru and old small house instead of something built newer and better. Technology takes alot of work. It isn't a mere Wave of a Wand.

and I'm saying it would take along time to Make a Full Tamerial on a "Skryim" scale because of how long it took to create Skryim.

... Games just keep on getting bigger and bigger.. Skyrim is much bigger then Oblivion. And Oblivion was bigger then Morrowind. ALOT more actors, NPC's, more big cities, more farms, cottages, dungeons and so on. Why stop now? The next game will be even bigger. There will be more big cities, bigger area to explore, and more of everything else... If not it wouldn't make sense.

I completely agree, but I didn't say it would stop getting bigger, I was just trying to show how and why Bethesda won't create an Elder Scrolls Game involving the Whole of Tamerial.

For some reason I thought Morriwind was a lot bigger than Oblivion. Honestly Elder Scrolls games have been condensing their content as graphics get better. But I do think we are at the point where you can have ridiculous graphics these games are getting known for and the ridiculous content and lore that people want.

So many things to say. Ok, they created Skyrim in all it's glory, at first it was buggy, and some cases still is, but they did it. They did it with programs/software/whatever that are already outdated. As time goes by creating a huge game gets easier. The world would be much bigger than skyrim, and to counteract the emptiness it would create, the game would thrive with more RIVERWOODS AND LESS WHITERUNS.

But I suppose they could do twise the size of Skyrim? I hope so, cos I think the best part of the games is exploring.

Just imagine what they could do with the new consoles! And.. Bethesda as a company has been growing alot the last years. They will probably hire some more people for the team. So it will be easier to create bigger worlds with more content.

Yes computers got better,

...But did they make Syrim have More Provinces than Oblivion or Morrowind, or did they just make a big more complexed Province than they developed in the Other games?

Just because they Made only "One Province" doesn't mean that Skryim is just as inferior as the previous games.

..and Making TONS of Provinces doesn't mean it would be superior to those games either.

the game would thrive with more RIVERWOODS AND LESS WHITERUNS.

But they Left out plenty of Riverwoods type towns in Skryim, and the Whole of Tamerial has a many many many more "Whiteruns" than Skyrim Does.

yep. Definitly! They would make the Next Game Bigger and Better than Skyrim. The Next Province will be Alot Bigger and Grander than Skyrim was.

I have no clue what you mean, what do you mean skyrim has more provinces? There were no defined zones in Oblivion, just cities. Skyrim has holds, so they put in lines to show the zone limits.

In terms of game size, Cyrodil on the map is about the same as Skyrim, but Skyrim feels much bigger and more open. Oblivion has tons of dungeons that were exact copies, layout wise. I know Skyrim does as well but they added tons of dungeons/caves/mines so it feels more spread out and offers variety.

You're not arguing why they can't do it anymore.
