I'm on my 5th playthrough and I'm finally saying it. Everyone jokes about stealth archer fatigue but nobody actually talks about why it's so boring to play. Yeah you one-shot everything from invisibility, but that's the problem - there's no actual combat. You're just walking around in sneak mode waiting for enemies to stop looking at you so you can shoot them in the back.
Compare that to, say, a melee character where you're actually managing blocking, power attacks, stamina, positioning. Or a mage where you're juggling spell slots and managing magicka. Stealth archer removes all of that. The game just becomes a stealth puzzle where the reward is pressing a button and watching a number pop up.
And the perks don't help. You get stuff like Critical Shot which is cool on paper but when you're one-shotting everything already it doesn't matter. Steady Hand is just "stand still longer." The whole tree feels like it's designed to make an already overpowered playstyle even more overpowered.
I get why people fall into it - it trivializes the game and that feels good for like 10 hours. But after that you're just going through the motions. At least with other builds you have to actually engage with the combat system.
