The Dawnbreaker

so i got this sweet sword. but im wondering, do you have to recharge this weapon ? i have lottts of soul gems, so thats no problem. but the charge bar is all the way up, and ive been using this alot, and it has yet to go down even a little bit. same with my blade of woe

I don't think it does. One of my friends recently got the game and managed to get that sword and he barely knows how to play RPGs (Lydia pretty much plays the game for him while he follows) let alone figure out soul gems; his sword was still at full "charge" when he showed it to me.

Maybe special weapons with unique enchants like that don't run out.

yeah that makes sense, lots of my 'unique' weapons for some reason never need charges, yet i have about 100+ of em haha

I liked Dawnbreaker too early on in the game when I got it. At that time, I really could get a lot of use out of something like that because there were so many caves and such crawling with undead and sooner or later one of the undead bigwigs would show up and make the odds overwhelming.

That is, when it actually kicks in with the mass disperse stuff. Very funny to watch them all run too.

Later on of course, carrying specialized weapons like this and that anti-Dragon sword are a waste of encumberance, since such as the dragon sword only does 25 points of extra damage to dragons which can easily be matched and/or exceeded with an all purpose shock, frost or fire bonus that works on anything. Sooner or later your crafted weapons get hardcore enough that a Fear or Dispel enchantment scatters the dross nearly as quickly as an area of effect power like Dawnbreaker's and not only that, but it works far more reliably.

I've had both of those swords hanging up in my weapons racks nonstop since about 15th level. They're great trophies/room accessories. Now I've added The Pale Blade and that Red Rooster (whatever) indian stiff's sword, plus the Axe of Whiterun and a few others...

ive got my dawnbreaker to about 140 damage, thanks to some strong blacksmith potions/enchantments. but i love it, im a very high level to. and i have an extremely strong deadric dagger meant for dragons especially, because on anything else it kills them to easily. i kind of like a challenge, haha

I'm like Save above, and have Dawnbreaker & the Pale Blade hanging on the wall. I never even used Dawnbreaker, though the Pale Blade was my best weapon for a while. Now the custom equipment rules :)

I love Dawnbreaker. The enchantment does deplete after awhile, but you get a lot of usage out of it. It's a great beginners Enchanted weapon. Since you have to deal with a lot of Draugr.

yeah, i didnt get the dawnbreaker till i was a much higher level. and i managed to get it to a really high damage, so i love using it. the effect on the undead is really cool

Actually the Dawnbreaker recharges everyday at Dawn. You'll notice it glows brighter and makes a louder humming noise while it is recharging. This is why it's name the Dawnbreaker.

I will just add that Dawnbreaker really huge capacity for souls ;) So its' bar won't deplete fast but if it will petty soul gem won't be nearly enough to recharge it.
