18+ The Hunt

Aden slowly panned his gaze around the safehouse, the small red icon blinking in the lower left of his HUD told him that his video recorder was activated and working. Later on, when he was alone, he would enter the video of the safehouse into the Judicators computer and let the ship build a 3D replica of the building, complete with its contents. After he'd gotten the entire room on record he glanced at Jessica. The kid seemed to be doing alright, all things considered, and she was now 'speaking' to the droid-like construction near the stairs leading up to the next level. He caught her eye with a nod of his head and motioned towards the stairs, indicating that he was heading up to check things out.

As he walked across the room, he reached into a pouch on his belt and pulled out a tiny device resembling one of the darts for his wrist launcher but with a camera lens in the back instead of a poison reservoir. However, the device wasn't simply a camera. It was an IR and electromagnetic camera with a sonar pulse feature that would continually map the building, along with a wireless transmitter built in that would integrate itself with the 3D mock up of the safe house and provide him with real time mapping of the environment, as well as detect any other sensors or other irregularities. Through the device, he would be able to have a fully interactive 3D model of the building complete with the whereabouts of anyone or anything inside. If anything happened in the building, he wanted to know about it. It also helped him be more aware of his surroundings, which, in a life and death situation, could mean the difference between making out alive or not at all.

Just before he reached the stairs, he loaded the projectile into his wrist launcher then made as though to hit the light switch on the wall. Without any audible sound, the launcher fired, embedding the sensor neatly in the wall in the corner of the rooms, well above everyones heads. He knew that the other hunters wouldn't take too kindly to being spied upon but it was as much for their protection as it was his own. If any of them were compromised then they it could come back to bite him as well. For that reason, he sent a message to Darek saying, "Find me when you have a minute. I have something to show you." Then he closed the link and focused on mapping out the rest of the safe house.

On the second level, he found everything exactly the way Darek had described it. He slowly walked the length of the hallway, sweeping his head from side to side to allow the cameras in his helmet a good view of each doorway. Just as he reached the end he heard a door open behind him and then Baroth walked out and went down the stairs without a glance at Aden. A little odd, that guy. Or maybe I'm just being overly suspicious. Walking over to one of the rooms he noticed a small, black scanning cube set near the door just in time for a green light to wash over him. The thunk of the deadbolt sliding back sounded. Aden just glanced along the hall, noting the other doors had identical scanners and then pushed inside the room.

Dah'Sharrah headed up the stairs, interested in finding a room of her own before they were all taken. Or she ended up having to share it with someone, which would just be a giant pain in the ass. She passed the armoury where the silver armoured hunter was inspecting what looked like some truly impressive weaponry, and continued on, to the bedrooms, all of them seemed to have some sort of scanning device set into them. She flinched as the door she stood before ran a scanning laser from the tips of her ears to her toes. Then the door unlocked, and slid open, allowing her access. The room wasn't much, a bed, small night table, lamp, and a dresser. She hadn't brought much with her, besides her weapons.

If she ever ended up having to do something truly disgusting, like, say, crawl through the cities sewers to get to the bounty, she could always buy new clothes. Not that she thought this hunt would involve sewer crawling, but it never hurt to plan for the worst. She removed her sniper rifle from her back, and placed it carefully on top of the dresser, along with both of her knives, but kept the pistol at her side. Finished dropping off her possessions, she opened the door to the hallway and saw the man that had arrived with Marek. The man didn't so much as glance at her, which brought her curiousity up to new levels. She didn't like loose ends, and it looked like this newest bounty hunter was going to be one. She turned to look down the hallway and spotted Marek staring after the man. 'Eventually, we're going to have to talk' she thought resting her hand on the butt of her pistol. 'Before we end up shooting at each other'

Jessica waited for the droid to respond but apparently it had nothing to say right now. So she decided to follow Marek upstairs and find Baroth. Whatever matter he wanted to discuss with her sounded urgent and he seemed like an okay sort. Not someone you'd want to invite over for pizza or be alone with in your room but trustworthy enough to walk you home on a dark rainy night. If that made any sense.

Jessica noticed all of the rooms in this safehouse had sensor boxes that regularly scanned their assigned rooms with a wide green laser. They were always above the doorframe so as not to be immediately spotted but noticeable enough to let any occupants know they were being watched.

"I wonder who reviews all that footage" she mused. "A housekeeping V.I probably. Maybe even a full security V.I or droid. Neither would surprise me. Hph...I'll have to investigate later." Soon enough she found Marek and a Khajiit woman she hadn't seen before. She gave them both a smile and a friendly wave as she spotted Baroth at the end of the hall. She walked over and spoke through her comlink once she made eye contact.

"So what did you want to talk about?" She asked with a polite smile.

The situation was tense, but the green armoured man seemed to be slowly gaining control of it. Or at least, the female bounty hunter and her large, Khajiit companion looked less inclined to start shooting. Galen stepped forwards, ignoring the sudden attention from the Khajiit and his rather large rifle. Facing the Argonian directly, he inclined his head, and motioned to the console. "Excuse me" the scaled assassin stepped back, allowing him access. He was no expert with computers, but this particular device hadn't even been password protected. He keyed in the release for the cell doors, and then shut the device down.

He turned to Kyle and the woman that had accompanied them. " It turns out I won't be accompanying you on the hunt after all" he said, shaking the younger mans' hand, and nodding to the woman. He'd never really cared about the credits anyways. Now his job was getting those kids back home, and returning to Shadow station, where he could do some real good. Or at least, kill scumbags until they eventually got the drop on him. He opened the door to the rest of the ship, and headed towards the holding cells. A few minutes later, he'd gathered the children and was making his way towards one of the unused slaver ships, a light shuttle, adequate for transporting personell. Moments after that, he was in the atmosphere, setting a course for Theren.

Hidden in the somewhat overly-dense crowd of citizens was a fully armored figure, watching the surroundings. Watching for Simus. There he was. Across the marketplace, talking intently with a guard captain. The figure smirked from under his helmet and closed in, dagger in back hand. Meanwhile, A knight was being beaten silently in a nearby alley. He wanted to yell. Yell out to Simus, warn him. But he couldn't. Everytime he opened his mouth, a fist striked his face, slapshing blood from his mouth. No. NO. He WAS going to break ree. He WAS going to save Simus.

And soon with all his remaining strength, he broke from the grasp of the Thalmor acolytes and weakly stumbled to the market. He threw and pushed people out of the way, searching frantically for Simus. He saw him, but by then, it was too late. The assassin had already plunged his blade through Simus' back, as he fell to his knees slowly. The crowds were too thick. He had no choice. He had to change. He closed his eyes and concentrated his heart beat anf rage, allowing it to consume him. Soon enough, he took on a form he hadn't done since the glory days. The old days. Screams of surprise rang out as he formed, clearly in dismay that their knight wasn't so pure after all. With all his anger unleashed, he ripped through the crowd in blurs..

He threw a guard and one of the citizens clear across the well.

He plunged his hand through the assassin's back, killing him within seconds.

He lifted Simus' limp body up and spread his wings, flying into the air with a swoop of cold air.

As he flew and as the air roared in his ears, he heard the faint yell of Simus...calling out to him..

"Baroth....no.....n-...no.......baroth..."

"Baroth? Hello?! Can you hear me? Don't tell me you died already."

Baroth shook his head clean as he looked down on the marketplace from the corner of a nearby roof. "Something tells me you would find great pleasure in that."

"Oh, you know me too well. Anyways, are you ok? You kinda blacked out for a second..."

"Hm? Oh yes, i'm fine. Just daydreaming.. let's get on with this. And hey! Just a quick survey. You know how i hate sneaking during day."

"It makes you edgy, yes i know."

"Off we go, then." He concluded, standing and turning 180 degrees, then calmly walking a few steps before stopping and turning back to the distant gap ahead of him. He took a deep breath getting a small Pop! of adrenaline before bursting into a sprint towards the ledge. When he reached the gap, he hurled himself upwards and onto the opposite building's ledge with a thud and left himself dangling. After a few moments of struggle, he pulled himself up and rolled onto the roof, standing into a kneel and studying the surrounding area.

"Ok Oracle, what do we got?"

"Close? We got the Silver's Alley. Most assassinations were made from there last week."

"Good and clean or sloppy and messy?"

"Well, it read here that the assassinations were on certain governors certain clients didn't want intervening in the war. So, i'm guessing..."

"Clean and professional." He finished, nodding to the alley. "Send in a holographic scan. Not a deep one but just a copy of the surroundings, the alley itself, and the location."

She nodded from her spot on his visor, smirking slightly. "Alright... Done. There's an abandoned balcony apartment room 600 yards North-east of this position. Wanna check it out?"

He nodded slightly, sighing at the boiling sun-star powering the planet's intense heat fields."Something tells me it's gonna be a long day anyway.. Let's go." He said, running once again across the various rooftops of the city, leaving some citizens and paranoid thugs looking up. And after a few long minutes of climbing and jumping, he arrived at the balcony and pulled himself up and over the railing. He looked back from the balcony, then turned to fully study the city of Blacklight infront of him. There were many vantage points and hidden alleys he would gladly appreciate during their visit. He took a few more moments to take it all in before climbing in front of the railing of the balcony, speaking to Oracle.

"Oracle, bookmark all of these locations and save them to my UL files."

A few small beeping noises and Oracle speaking up alerted him that the job was done. "Got it. Now where?"

"Home." He answered, jumping off the balcony and grabbing one of the many loose cable wires strung up and swung himself to the sandy, sun-baked streets of Blacklight. Rolling a little ways, then to his feet, Baroth stood at full height and started the long walk to the safe house. Minutes went by as he thought about how the whole deal might go. He had his doubts, but something told him it was going to be slim to close.

As he walked to the safehouse door and it slid up and open, he looked off for a second to catch the face of...Marius? There he was, cloaked and leaning against a house corner, staring right back at Baroth with those lost eyes of his. A few blinks later and he was gone, leaving Baroth stunned somewhat. But Jessica's voice brought him swiftly back to reality and he turned to face her and see her smile as she politely repeated her sentence.

"So what did you want to talk about?" She asked with a polite smile.

Baroth looked around the market again, but the vision of his was no where in sight. He turned back to Jessica slowly, nodding to her. "Not here, kid. My room." He stated, walking past her, up the stairs to the second floor and to his door. The black cube scanned him once before the doors opened grantingly. He nodded to his bed and Jessica sat down, looking up at him with a form of curiousity. In one singular swift movement, he brought up his right V8 energy pistol aiming square in between Jessica's eyes.

"Oracle, i need you to coat this room's wall systems with a mute coding bug. I don't want anyone hearing this conversation."

"Baroth..."

"Just do it! And make it quick."

"Alright but i can't do it for long."

"Then do it for as long as you can. I need all the time i can get."

"You have two minutes."

"Fair enough." He finished, clenching the pistol in his right hand and keeping his aim on Jessica's forehead. He spoke calmly and cautiously at first, never letting his gaze leave the small girl.

"Now I don't know who you are, or what you want, but if this is some joke of sorts, stop it. I have endured to much bull**** to get pranked by some little kid. Now, I don't have long so i'm gonna say this once. Who are you?"

In the time it took Jessica to blink, Baroth had pulled a gun on her and leveled it between her eyes. It was a pistol. A big one. She remained sitting on Baroth's bed with her hands folded and looked up at him with a mixture of surprise and fear. Having a gun to her head was something Jessica never got used to but experience had taught her to control her fear. If she made an effort not to look scared it usually made her feel better and that improved her chances. Marek had told her one time that the only two kinds of people who didn't crack with a gun to their head were trained killers and psychopaths. He also said that most people couldn't tell the difference. Jessica was able to take some comfort in being the former.

Before she left the Judicator Jessica had the good sense to take Marek's advice and change into her blue leather bodysuit Between it, her matching elbow length leather gloves and her matching knee high riding boots she was completely protected from throat to feet. With heat dissipating circuitry, a kinetic gel layer to soften impacts and a strong set of shields, and an overshield that she could detonate for an explosion all around her it could protect her as well as any armor while looking twice as cute. It also amplified her magic, which she had gotten much better with over the years. Right now that was all she had available to her. She couldn't draw her plasma pistol before Baroth shot, she hadn't brought her rifle and her overshield wasn't activated. Baroth also had an unknown weapon. If it was a traditional firearm with kinetic bullets, a blaster, or a plasma weapon she'd be okay. All of those used some kind of physical ammunition that was fired as a slug, a superheated gas or a molten blob respectively. Her shields could block two or three shots at this range. If he had a true laser weapon she'd be in trouble. Lasers were visible light, which her shields didn't block. Her suit may or may not be able to handle the heat and it would hurt like hell either way.

Right now the best thing she could do was sit and answer Baroth's questions. She folded her arms, crossed her legs and waited. A minute passed and nothing happened. Neither one broke eye contact and Jessica wasn't dead yet. She started dangling her suspended leg impatiently and finally spoke up.

"If you're gonna shoot me, then shoot me. Otherwise, put the gun down. Your arms just gonna get tired."

Another moment passed and nothing happened.

"My name is Jessica Mary Psyrakon. I'm 25 years old. Yes, I know I sound and look about 16. That's when my body decided to stop growing and let's just say nanoscale cybernetics and extensive genetic engineering have their perks. I have the rack of a 10 year old but you can't have everything I suppose."

She put her thumb and forfinger to her chin and thought for a moment. At least the comlink let her talk again.

"Let's see...what else to tell the guy with a gun to my head? Uh, I like sci-fi action movies, I love microplush blankets and mint chocolate chip ice cream, I got the scars on my head and throat because the administrator of the school I was trained at was a raving madman before I killed him and I come from a very old family with excellent records. One of my favorite ancestors is a man named Simus Psyrakon. He was an Imperial from Nirn who lived over a thousand years ago and had all kinds of amazing adventures with his daughter and my great X 10 grandmother Alice Psyrakon. Machine God, I wanted to be Alice when I was little."

"Anything else?" She asked in a sickly sweet tone.

Lyssa was impressed by the blue armoured mans' guts, walking in front of a pair of bounty hunters, neither of which he knew, to free some kids. He then announced he'd be leaving the green armoured man, and ballistic vested womans company. Which created an opening, and Mar tilted his head to the side slightly, obviously wanting her to speak up. Which meant she needed to build some kind of trust between herself and the other three unknown occupants of the room. Which made her more than a little uncomfortable. The last person she'd trusted, besides Mar, had turned out to be no more than a lying scumbag, that had tried to capture both her and Mar by posting a false bounty and they'd walked into an Imperial ambush.

Gritting her teeth, she holstered her pistol, and motioned for Mar to lower his own weapon. "Okay. You said something about a bounty here on Eregin. My partner here, heard the client was offering one hell of a payout to whoever could bring down the target." She motioned to the door where the blue armoured man had just left. "I happen to like credits. The more the better, and you seem to have a vacancy. So what do you say?" She asked, trying to sound polite, courteous, all those things hunters were supposed to be when looking for a job. Which was why Mar was leaving the talking to her, probably. He wasn't so great with words...or people.

Argus blinked in surprise as the blue armoured human male that had arrived with the most recent batch of bounty hunters stepped forwards and motioned him out of the way. "Excuse me" the man said, perfectly polite, and the assassin stepped back. There wasn't much harm he could do at the console anyways, and he doubted the man was out to cause trouble. The human keyed the release for the cells, and then promptly took his leave of the group. 'Interesting. It seems I've found a bounty hunter with somewhat of a conscience' the Argonian thought to himself, watching the man stroll down the corridor to meet with the recently freed children.

Argus wished the man luck, and looked back to the remaining four bounty hunters. The man in green, the Khajiit in gold, the woman in a ballistic vest, and the woman that had almost shot him in the grey-blue armour. The fully armoured woman, apparently sensing opportunity, turned to the green armoured man, and promptly offered the services of herself and her partner. Honestly, it was a good opportunity. Argus hadn't heard much about the bounty, but with little credits remaining, and no longer having a mission on Eregin, it would be beneficial, to say the least, to join the group. "I would also like to offer my services, if you'll have me. I do have some expertise at hunting targets, although I seldomly brought them in alive" he said softly, awaiting the green armoured mans' verdict.

"If you're gonna shoot me, then shoot me. Otherwise, put the gun down. Your arms just gonna get tired."

Another moment passed and nothing happened.

Machine God, I wanted to be Alice when I was little."

"Anything else?" She asked in a sickly sweet tone.

Baroth let his gaze bore into the girl for a few more seconds before he lowered his V8 slowly. He smacked it back on the magnetic seal on his right thigh and just stood there, studying the girl. She had her head on straight and knew how to use it, just like Simus. She controlled her fear in a life or death situation, just like Simus. And she tested him once to see if he'd pull the trigger, just like Simus. He shook his head and sighed, reaching his hands up to his helmet. He grabbed the bottom of it and twisted it to the left slightly, engaging the hiss of air that allowed him to lift it off completely. He revealed the one thing that would get him killed to a girl he wasn't even sure was descended from his long dead comrade...his lost brother. He allowed his facial expression to go soft as he tucked his helmet under his left arm and extended his right hand to the girl.

"My name...is Baroth Hermingfel. I knew your great grand father personally. We were...practical brothers. One of those famous books you used to read, Fading Hope, we took part in that. It started from us. It was just another one of our out of control adventures. Your Great grand father, Simus, he was a good man and an even better tactician. I bet your wondering how i knew and adventured with Simus yet i'm still here. Well kid, i'm immo-" But before Baroth could tell her, a small red flashing beacon went off in his helmet. He quickly slid it back on and Oracle popped up.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt but Rex is here. He's landing in Hangar A-12 as we speak."

"He's very late."

"I know. But he said he ran into a pack of Silver Wasps."

"Hm. That gang is still around?"

"I heard they're extremely hard to kill. By the way, the mute coding debug faded."

"Oh i figured. Just in time too." He nodded to Jessica, walking to the door as it slid up and open. "Another time, kid." He said, walking out of the room, down the stairs to the living room, and outside to the Marketplace. It didn't take him long to find the lift to the Hangar Bay and take it to level A of the Hangar Bay. Once there, he walked about the large winding corridor, and eventually found Hangar A-12. He walked past the double doors and into the Hangar, seeing Rex and Hustler behind him, an engineer working on the side of it with a Blowtorch. Rex finished talking with what looked like a crew manger for the engineers and spotted Baroth, walking over to meet him.

"Good afternoon sir. How was your-"

"Yea yea, how's the ship. I heard you ran into a pack of Silver Wasps."

"Yes sir, i did. Highly violent thugs in K-12 Tie Fighters. There were approximately six of them and i record they asked me for my credits. I found it as a sarcastic remark."

"Hm. How's the Hustler?"

"It's in minimal repair, sir. The engineer stated it would take four hours to repair the outer shell. Oh, and i repaired the holes on the right side, sir."

"Good, good. Now, i have something else for you to do."

"Yes, sir?"

"I need you to go to these marked locations using your stealth-tech." He said, handing Rex a datapad complete with a whole map of Blacklight and several blinking markers. "Scan the area for any advantages and test out every possible use for it. Report everything you find on the datapad and return it to me. Understood?"

Rex nodded. "Yes sir."

"Well alright then. Get to work." Baroth said, leading Rex to the lift, where he used his Pantech invisibility ward and ran off towards the first location. As Baroth walked back to the safehouse, a hooded figure bumped into him, making him turn a little. He looked at the passing figure and spoke harshly. "Hey watch where you're going, mothe-...Marius?" He said, confusingly staring the man down as he realized it was the same figure from earlier. But before he could confront him, he disappeared into the bustling crowd and vanished entirely. This was the second time he'd done this today and left Baroth in shock for the third time. Now he was curious. As he walked into the crowd after him, he opened a line with Oracle.

"Oracle, look i don't have time to talk, but i need you to scan that man's face. I need to know who he is."

"Alright, are you ok? You sound.."

"I'm fine. Just do it." He said, as Oracle faded and he began searching intently through the crowd. Searching for Marius.

Kyle watched Galen leave the ship, regretting that he'd lost the opportunity to get to know the man better. His father obviously trusted him, and he seemed solid under fire. He listened as first the female bounty hunter, then the Argonian assassin both offered to join the group. They'd be useful, for sure, and Kyle figured the group would need all the help they could get. "Welcome aboard, then" he said, glancing at Mareks companion. "We'll take you to our safehouse. You can get acquainted with the other hunters" the woman was conspicuously silent, but he assumed she didn't have a problem with his decision. He opened a private com to his adoptive father, and said "Galens' left for parts unknown. But I've picked up some...friends. We'll be at the safehouse soon"

******
"Find me when you have a minute. I have something to show you." The message popped up on Dereks visor. The redguard bounty hunter frowned. He didn't think Marek could have caused any trouble already. And judging by the lack of blaster fire, he hadn't. So that meant it was important, but not urgent. And he doubted the man had managed to track down Ataro. Marek was one of the best in the business, but Derek was no slob. He headed up the stairs, where he'd seen the mandalorian armoured hunter go. Approaching him, he nodded in greeting, and said "Something you wanted to show me?" He asked, realizing he had a few questions for his fellow bounty hunter himself. "Galens' left for parts unknown. But I've picked up some...friends. We'll be at the safehouse soon" he frowned, but hid any outward reaction. Galen wasn't the type to just pick up and leave, so there had to be some reason. He'd question Kyle once he arrived, with his 'friends'

Aden glanced over his shoulder as Darek walked into the room and pulled his data pad out of the pouch on his belt. With a few taps on the screen he brought up the model that the Judicator was building of the safehouse. "Yes," He walked over to Darek and pointed to the pad, "You came sooner than I expected so it isn't finished yet but that doesn't really matter." The pads screen showed a light blue mock up of about two thirds of the safe house and was already displaying the locations of the few people still downstairs, nearest the device. "I know you have your own security systems a such laced throughout this building but I took the precaution of adding to them. This is an ultrasonic mapping system. Right now it's building a real-time, 3D model of the safehouse. This isn't like traditional sensors that rely on direct line of sight. A single device will map out an area nearly five hundred meters square. In this case, there are too many buildings for it to accurately map them all, but it will still give a pretty good projection of even the alleys around this building." He held the pad out to Darek so he could see for himself.

As Darek studied the image, Aden pulled out a couple of the sensor darts. "Now, The one I placed here is for security purposes. I usually wouldn't operate out of a static location but with so many of us working this job, it wouldn't make sense to do otherwise. I trust that your security measures are effective but just consider this my insurance against getting cornered." He offered the two darts in his hand, "I'll give you these in case you find somewhere, or someone, worth placing it on. They work effectively as a traditional tracker as well but I don't think I need to tell you how useful it is to have a real-time display of a location you're about to infiltrate. Use them how you wish." He dropped the tiny darts into the palm of Dareks glove and waited for a response. Darek was one of the few other bounty hunters that Aden had any respect for, besides the usual respect one would give a rival or enemy. If their group was to catch this Ataro woman, they would need to work together and avoid in-fighting as much as possible. That meant sharing information, just as much as it meant fighting together effectively.

Derek accepted the darts and listened to Mareks explanation of what they could do. He was right. Sensor darts would be extremely useful, on any job. "Thanks. These will come in handy." He placed the darts in his belt pouch, and glanced down the hallway. "Marek, you mind if I ask you something? Why'd you bring Jessica? I mean, she's hardly bounty hunter material" he wasn't phrasing the question to make it sound like he doubted the girl. She'd just never seemed like the type of person that could hunt, and capture or kill people. Possibly even torture, in order to find the quarry. Marek almost certainly knew that they would probably end up interrogating people in order to find Ataro. Dragging the girl they'd both met on the Dragons' Talon along didn't seem like the best of ideas.

Baroth put his gun down and started to describe Simus Psyrakon as if he knew him. It was captivating to listen to but it was leading to an impossible conclusion. Simus Psyrakon lived over a thousand years ago and somehow this Baroth Hermingfel knew him personally? It was either complete bullplops or this man was much more than human.

I bet your wondering how i knew and adventured with Simus yet i'm still here. Well kid, i'm immo-" There was a pause and suddenly Baroth got up. "Another time kid." He said before he suddenly just left. Jessica was both surprised and pissed off at this. No one lead up to a revelation as important as this and simply stopped. Certainly not when when it was about an important historical figure and personal relative that no one in the past six generations should have met!

"Hey!" Jessica transmitted. "Hey, wait a minute! Get back here!"

She followed him downstairs, then out of the safehouse and towards the lift to the hanger bay of the nearby spaceport. The lift closed before she could join him on it and it was over a minute before it came down again. Angrily, Jessica pushed the button for the last floor and stormed out when she arrived. She searched around the bay, looking for some place where Baroth might have gone when she noticed a large fighter in the distance. A white metallic droid was standing by it and Baroth was talking to it. Jessica sprinted towards both of them but couldn't catch Baroth in time before he left the hanger bay through another elevator and headed out to the marketplace. Jessica cursed with frustration and had to wait yet again for the lift to come back. She was steaming by the time she made it outside. Her quick angry footfalls caught Baroth's attention long enough for her to storm up to him. She stared daggers into Baroth and brandished her right tightly gloved index finger angrily as she transmitted.

"You listen to me mister! I don't know if that little story you told was true or a wad of bullplops and I frankly I don't care. How dare you lead up to the impossible conclusion that you knew my ancestor, a man who made a lasting impact on the world, and then just leave!? You are going to finish right here and I'm not leaving until you do! Simus Psyrakon lived over a thousand years ago! How could you possibly know him from then!?"

Aden wasn't really surprised at Dareks question. In fact, he had expected it sooner. He knew Darek wasn't questioning Jessicas combat abilities, after all, they'd both seen her fight before, she could dish out some serious carnage when she got riled up, even if she did lack somewhat in discipline. Rather, he suspected that Darek was more concerned about her mental state. And whether she would be able to handle the brutality that went hand in hand with the job. The kid was sometimes a bit naive about such things and in truth, Aden half doubted that she would be up to the task of 'induced cooperation' as he sometimes put it. Not that he doubted her strength of will, but interrogation of suspects was another matter entirely, especially when time was of the essence. To kill in combat was much easier for most people than deliberately causing pain to someone when they themselves couldn't necessarily fight back. It was a step that Aden wasn't sure Jessica would be able to take. In fact he found himself hoping that she wouldn't.

Accepting his data pad back from Darek, he said, "I have been called many things, some of them true, others not, but contrary to popular belief, I am not without mercy. I wasn't about to leave the girl back on Cyris for Mengsks thugs to find. Not that it's any concern of yours. And besides, Jessica has abilities that could prove useful in this hunt." He added deftly, turning his back to Darek as he slipped the pad back into a pocket. "Just leave the kid to me."

Baroth traced the footsteps in the sand through the crowd, but it was hopeless. There were hundreds of merchants and civilians walking around and some even over each other trying to get where they were, crossing and erasing their tracks unknowingly. He sighed and stopped in the middle of the crowd, sighing and popping his neck. But as he looked up, he saw a flash of black fabric. The same fabric that made the cloak Marius was wearing. And as he tried to follow the wavering cloak, he heard a pace of footsteps faster than the others in the crowd. As he turned with his right hand on his right V8 expecting trouble, he saw Jessica marching towards him with an irritated look instead.

"Aw pl***." He muttered under his breath, before Jessica approached him.

"You listen to me mister! I don't know if that little story you told was true or a wad of bullpl*** and I frankly I don't care. How dare you lead up to the impossible conclusion that you knew my ancestor, a man who made a lasting impact on the world, and then just leave!? You are going to finish right here and I'm not leaving until you do! Simus Psyrakon lived over a thousand years ago! How could you possibly know him from then!?

"Look kid, as much as i want to explain, i..." He said, glancing from Jessica to the figure, fading in and out of the crowd.

"No! Don't give me that crap! You better explain you pl*** story or i swear!"

"LOOK KID, NOW ISN'T THE TI- Son of a b****!" He exclaimed, as the figure disappeared into the crowd for good. Shortly after, Baroth accidently pushed Jessica into a merchant booth as he ran after the figure, throwing other people aside as well. There! He saw the flash of black fabric again as it ducked into an alley. He sprinted through the crowd even faster, yelling out to the figure.

"HEY! STOP! STOP RIGHT THERE ASS****!" He yelled, as the figure broke into a full on sprint, wall jumping over a wooden fence. And so the chase began.

Baroth ran up to the fence, jumping up it and grabbing the top, slinging himself over as he saw the figure run up a dead end wall to a hanging ladder, pulling himself up. Baroth followed swiftly, using the same moves to easily reach the ladder, climbing after the figure quickly. They both climbed the rusty fire escape hastily, Baroth reaching the top a few seconds after Marius. As he reached the top, Marius pointed a wrist blaster square at his helmet, before suddenly turning and shooting both latches of the old fire escape that kept it held to the building with bright green explosions. Plasma. Now Baroth was in trouble.

CCCCCCCRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
"SSSHHH**********!" Baroth yelled, taking a step back onto the leaning rails and jumping up onto the empty ledge, pulling himself up as the rusty fire escape smashed to the ground below. He looked back once he'd pulled himself up before turning to see the figure on the other side of the building, jumping off. There was a distant crash of glass as Baroth ran and blindly jumped off the edge just as Oracle spoke.
"BAROTH, WAIT! IT'S A HOLI-" But she never got to finish, as Baroth landing in the broken window with a roll, crunching on the glass.
"RAAAGGHH! Not...now Oracle."
"But i'm trying to war-"
"Mute."
He slowly stood and studied the dark room, looking for Marius. He didn't have to look far, however, as he saw the front door to the room fly open and a shadow duck out. He ran quickly after Marius down the stairs, heaving down the winding staircase when he came to another door. He kicked it open and instinctively ran to the right, when he was suddenly rammed out of the window into the factory courtyard.
As Baroth rolled to a stop and Marius stood, he immediately stood and pulled his rifle from his back aiming at Marius' back.
"Stop..right there!"
The figure turned slowly to pull his hood back, to show Marius' face. It was him. But... But there. There was a flash of light blue, showing a different face behind. Marius smiled.
"Baroth..."
"Who.... Who are you?"
"My name...is....Binsk..." He said, rolling his shoulders as the holigram fizzed off to reveal a crocodile-like creature with a scar over his left eye. Baroth just stood there, watching in horror as his feelings were used against him and Binsk raised a wrist blaster.
"And Krag says.. 'Hi.'" He said, firing a bolt into one of the barrels, exploding into hot sand and green flame. It wasn't just the explosion but the sand that distracted his scanners. And when he looked around, Binsk was gone. He sighed and flipped his rifle onto his back, walking towrads the first exit he saw.
"Unmute."
"I tried to warn you."
"Yea yea, i know." He said, walking back to the safe house.

"I have been called many things, some of them true, others not, but contrary to popular belief, I am not without mercy. I wasn't about to leave the girl back on Cyris for Mengsks thugs to find. Not that it's any concern of yours. And besides, Jessica has abilities that could prove useful in this hunt." Derek shook his head. He hadn't meant his question as a personal jibe at Marek, and he believed the other hunter knew it. He was simply bringing it up to illustrate his point. "You're wrong about one thing. It is my concern, especially if it turns out she can't do what needs to be done, and ends up getting one of us killed" with that, he turned and headed back downstairs, making a mental note to speak with Jessica later.

"Son of a bitch." Jessica cursed to herself. She had managed to follow Baroth through the market crowds but there was twenty feet between them. Now the fire escape he had just scaled had been severed and was in a rusty heap at the base of its wall. Jessica had no way to climb that wall safely and by the time she found another way around Baroth and whomever he was chasing would be long gone. She had no choice but to turn around and go home.

"Baroth you son of a bitch, I otta shoot you in the foot for this. Then you'll HAVE to stay and finish her story."

With a frustrated sigh she turned around and weaved through the markets back to the safehouse. She took her time to look around this time, seeing a few items that caught her interest. She didn't have any money though so she couldn't very well buy anything. Mengsk had seen fit to delete and siphon her account during his "experiments." This meant her Red Sabre pay could only be collected once she actually got back to the Talon and that was assuming someone thought she was alive.

Soon enough she found the house and let herself in. She had to hack the door but that was easy.

"I should ask Derek for a key though. Huh, am I transmitting? Wow, I totally am. That's embarrassing. I should be careful what I think from now on. At least until I get my throat fixed." She turned to head upstairs and find the room she had claimed. A nap and a shower sounded good right about now. Along the way she passed Derek.

"Hey Derek." She thought to him with a smile. "Is Kyle still under your wing? I don't recall seeing him here."

The walk home seemed like the longest in Baroth's life. He wasn't used to seeing something like that. Few people knew about his past brothers, and even fewer had projections for them. But sadly, this wasn't the first time this had happened. A few years back, Krag had used a personal projection of Simus to lure Baroth from his ship and onto Starflare. He never thought it would happen again but, as per usual, he was wrong. His mind still reeled over the idea of Marius still being alive. And older, more ancient memories surfaced, reminding him of his past. His obsession. His..failure. But he quickly shook those off and contacted Rex as he neared the safehouse. He needed something to distract himself.

"Rex? Rex, can you hear me?"

"Yes sir. What do you require?"

"Are you almost done with that search?"

"Not quite sir. Do you have an alternate task for me?"

"No, no. Just get done and head back to the ship. I don't want anyone knowing about you just yet. Oh, and be on the alert. Someone may be following you."

"Copy that, sir. I will complete the analysis in approximately Thirty-minutes. When it's complete, i'll send you the report, sir."

"Alright. Just get it done." He finished, cutting the line with Rex and opening a line to Oracle as he entered the safehouse.

"I'm picking up a few sensor nodes in the area. I can't poke around them for too long."

"Good. Someone's watching us. Take note of that, will you?"

"Already did." Oracle said, sighing shortly after. "Are you sure you're ok? I mean...what happened back there.."

"It's nothing. I'll be fine. You just need to-"

"Are you sure? If there's something wrong, you can tell me. You know that, right?"

"Look, right now i need Oracle, not some damn therapist. Now, run a scan over the area and report whatever you find without being detected. I don't need you to be found. Ok?"

She sighed quietly and nodded. "Alright. On it." She said, fading off his visor.

Baroth sighed and looked back at the fading day of Eregin. There was much work to be done, and even more blood bound to be shed. Whoever this Ataro fellow was, she must be stupid or important to be worth fifty-million credits. But questions raised in his mind, questions that outran the reward credits. Who was she really? Why was she worth fifty million credits? What did she do? Steal the emperor's apple? Trip his son? Something told Baroth there was something else deeper behind her. But no. All that mattered was the money. he could give a damn less about the whys and whats. Like everybody else, he was in it for the money. Nothing else.

Arriving at the second floor of the safehouse, Baroth nearly ran smack into Jessica and Derek. Stopping in his tracks, he carefully snuck around behind her while she talked with Derek, and into his room. The door closed behind him with a silent click, locking. Finally alone. He raised a line with Oracle.

"Oracle, set a video code wrap on the room. See if that blocks the sensors."

"Ok, gimme a second."

There was a short silence.

"Gah! Damn it! No, i cant. What ever those sensors are powered on is too strong. Wait....wait wait wait. let me try something else."

Another short pause.

"There we go! I stacked up the VCWs so the sensor would bounce off of them. Basically, this room will look like a blur to whoever is watching those cameras. Though, i doubt it'll take them long to notice. That it? Or did you need something else?"

"No, that's it. Go ahead and continue on your scans. Oh, and while you;re at it, use the footage from my helmet to see that..thing's face. Cross-reference it with purchases, police records, and news stories. Let me know what you find."

"Alright, see you in an hour or so." She said, fading from his screen and entering the digital world without a trace.

Baroth looked around the small room again before reaching his hands up, grabbing the base of his helmet, and twisting his hands to the left, earning a light hiss of air. He pulled up slightly, raising his helmet from his head to reveal his ragged short beard and shaved head. He set his helmet on the bed beside him and stood, pulling a chip from the fourth slot in his helmet and holding it out infront of himself, pressing down on it. A set of holographic, light blue figures appeared side by side, motionless. From left to right, Simus stood by Marius, Marius by Baroth, Baroth by Hale, and Hale by Marek, who looked off somewhere else. Baroth studied the picture intently and closely, looking over everyone. He brought his hand up to his face, as he let the holigram fizz away. He was surprised to feel his hand come away wet. He sighed, putting the chip back in it's slot as he sat back down.

"Forgive me, Simus." He mumbled, before hearing a knock on his door. He pulled a V8 from his right thigh in one swift motion, aiming at the door. He spoke aloud. "Who is it?"

"It's Jessica. Open the damn door." She transmitted through the door. Baroth sighed and slapped his V8 back on his thigh, standing and walking over to the door as it slid open. He pulled Jessica in and closed the door. She sat on the bead and Baroth leaned on the wall, looking away from her slightly.

"What do you want, kid?"

.......
Meanwhile, across the market from safe house, on one of the makeshift buildings, Binsk stood . He watched the bounty hunter return back to a large house door, looking back for a few moments before heading inside. He grinned to himself as the doors slid closed with a faint hiss. Whoever this 'Baroth' guy was, he was breaking. Bnsk could almost feel it. It was just a matter of testing him. Breaking him. But Baroth wasn't his concern, for the most part. He just needed to deliver the information he collected to whoever this 'Kraguul' contact was. He raised a manual line to the mysterious link and spoke. "Yea, this is Binsk. He's active on Eregin."
There was a pause. Then the computer-generated voice replied to him.
"General Kraguul requests to see you in person."
"And why is this?"
"He wishes to see you for himself. He says there maybe more to this than you so believe. He also says he has some valuable information for you. Do you accept his offer?"
Binsk looked down at the crowd endlessly, contemplating over the offer. He barely knew the man, or whatever he was. But on the other hand, he was the only lead Binsk had on his brother's death. So, sliding on his helmet and beginning his descent towards the hanger bay, he replied.
"Alright. I need the coordinates."
"We are located in Sector 5 of the Eregin flight space. The ship should not be hard to find, i assure you."
"Alright, i'll be there within the next fifteen minutes."
A long walk and flight later, Binsk sat in the cockpit of Fury, staring face to face with a massive Warship that far over towered his own ship. The engines themselves were big enough to stuff entire moons in, let alone the rest of the monstrosity. He reminded himself to keep his temper and tone low. As expected, the Docking General invaded the comm system and asked for the name and destination of his ship.
"Unidentified spacecraft, this is Warship 'Titan'. State your ship's name and destination or we will use lethal force."
"Titan, this is Attack Ship 'Fury'. I am expected by General Kraguul of your ship. Requesting permission to dock, over."
Silence and slight static filled the comms for a few minutes before the robotic voice returned.
"Roget that, Fury. Permission to dock is granted. One of the Captain's droids will be there to assist and escort you to the General. See you soon."

Increasing the Fury's altitude above Titan, Binsk spotted the large, 1 mile square highlighted with Crimson. He carefully and slowly lowered down to it, passing the light red shield that housed the pad itself. pulling off the seatbelt straps to his swivel pilot's chair and stood, sliding on his helmet and taking the left corridor out of the cockpit. Opening the hatch door and walking down the ramp, Binsk was surprised to find that he wasn't floating off the ground. An Artificial Gravity alert popped up on the right hand corner of his visor, just as his radar showed a robotic life form approaching from the bridge. The droid stopped a few feet short of Binsk and bowed respectively, speaking in a surprisingly human tone.

"AI Droid 'Hyperion' at your service. It is requested by Captain and General Kraguul that i escort you to his quarters for a debriefing."

"Debriefing? He said he just wanted to see me and tell me something. He never said anything about a fluffing mission."

"It is reported you accepted his offer to come here, correct?"

"Well, yea.."

"Then follow me." The droid finished, smoothly turning on his heel and swiftly walking the long space of the bridge connecting the landing pad to the ship.

"God damn droids.." Binsk huffed in irritation, jogging to catch up with the Droid as he neared the entrance to the ship.

The massive doors slid open to reveal a large wall of red shielding that represented the airlock. He and Hyperion entered through the shielding and entered the ship itself. He glanced about the massive, cavernous room filled with elevators, catwalks, other droids, corridors, and doorways. There were also to very large cylinders that represented the two lifts to the different level of the ship. He had little time to analyze the room, however, as Hyperion headed for the middle lift. A tall cylinder connected to the high ceiling and the floor, the slanted door sliding open as they approached it, walking into the wide circle shaped space as the door closed behind them. Hyperion tapped a few small squares on a keypad by the door and lift gave a light sound of movement, taking them to the Captain's level. On the way up, Hyperion contacted somebody.

"Yea, this is Hyperion. Wake him."
A few minutes later, Binsk and Hyperion walked through the automatic doors to the Captain's Room. The room was as big as an arena in width and length, and at the front, a small staircase led to a black metal throne/commanding chair. And to the left of that, a hyper sleep chamber was open with a little bit of smoke leaking out. And finally, from the right corner of the room, what looked like a muscular orc with braided and weaved hair walked forward, popping his knuckles and opening his arms as Binsk approached.
"And so the past Druglord approaches..."
"How the hell do you know about-"
"It's been awhile, Binsk. A long, suffocated while. We need to make up for lost time, hm? But first, a little scrap of what you want to hear."
"Which is?"
"Your brother's death, of course."
Binsk' eyes widened as he stepped towards Kraguul. "Tell me what you know."
"In time, Binsk. But first, a little test, hm?"
"A test for what?"
"To see what you can do and if i can trust you, of course." He said, nodding to the door behind Binsk. Binsk turned to see at least fifteen droids armed with rifles approaching. He sighed and popped his neck, walking towards the crowd slowly.
"Son of bitch."
A few things. First, yes, i will start uncensoring the cuss words from now on. Second, yes, Kraguul has his own Warship. Third, i'm sorry for the lack of detail. I'm on a tight schedule at the moment but i'll be sure to edit it in later.

Titan, Kraguul's Warship.

General Risar Kraguul. Yes, the same General from Fading Hope. Think of his voice as Hades, from God Of War 3. Binsk' voice would be a lighter and less grizzled version of that.

Derek turned to see Jessica approaching, and the girl glanced up at him, and greeted him saying, "Hey Derek." She smiled. "Is Kyle still under your wing? I don't recall seeing him here." 'Well, that was faster than I anticipated' he mused, before responding. "Hello, Jessica. Yes, Kyle is still with me. He's just out taking care of some things." He sighed, wishing he could remove his helmet for what was to come, but didn't trust himself to keep a professional outlook if he did.

"Listen, kid- Jessica. Before you continue with this hunt... I need to know you can pull it off" he said, fully aware that a staircase was not the best place to be having this conversation. " Don't think I'm questioning your abilities! Hell, I saw what you could do on that star destroyer.But- you were fighting monsters then. You knew as well as I did that they didn't have a scrap of their former selves left in them." he paused, waiting to see if his words had any effect on the girl.

Continuing, he said "But as the people we're going to be hunting won't look like monsters. At least not on the outside. I don't know if you've seen the holo of the girl we're after yet. But she doesn't look like a monster. She just looks like someone's kid. So will anyone else you go after." He sighed. He didn't want to scare her off. He just wanted her to know what, exactly she was getting into.

"I just want to prepare you. It isn't going to be an easy life. As a hunter, you don't make friends, but people are lining up to take a shot at you almost constantly." He chuckled, realizing he was probably boring her with his rant. " Ah, but you've got Marek as a mentor. One of the best. If you ignore the fact he's got about the same amount of emotion as a slab of granite, that is. Anyways, I'd better get back to it. Think about what I've said, will you?" He turned to head down the stairs, and passed the second man that Marek had picked up. The other bounty hunter didn't spare Derek a glance, instead going up the stairs, and to his room.

Moments later, Jessica followed. 'I'd like to figure out what he's up to as well.' Derek didn't like it when people got all secretive on him. Especially when they left the safehouse at all hours of the day. 'If he gives the place away, I'll be the first to put a round through him' he thought, feeling less than charitable at the moment. He arrived in the main room just as the safehouse door opened and Kyle stepped inside, followed by Mareks' lady friend, a towering Khajiit in black armour with a gold helmet, and smaller woman, and an Argonian. "I'm guessing these are your 'friends' Kyle" the younger hunter shrugged. "They wanted in on the bounty. I figured we could use all the help we can get"

Dah'Sharrah heard the safe house door open once again, and sighed. "We might as well send out a planetary wide broadcast telling the prey where we are" she said, walking down the stairs, passing the scarred, bald girl as she did so. Despite the ridiculous number of people entering and leaving the place, she had to admit, it was pretty impressive. She glanced over to the silver armoured man, and then turned to the door, where the younger, green armoured bounty hunter stood, followed by the woman wearing the vest, and three newcomers. One of whom was an Argonian. Which was fairly impressive, seeing as Blacklight 'disapproved' of the scaly humanoids, and that was putting it lightly. With the addition of three more people, that also meant the reward would be diminished. Although, a slice of fifty million, divided among the group, was still a lot of credits. And who was to say that no one would catch a few rounds to the head along the way? For fifty million, Kaylin Ataro had to be at least a little dangerous.
