Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood?

Lord Aethok

Member
Right, I'm in another dilemma, I have this pirate character who uses one-handed and wears light armor, but I cannot decide if I should go for the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood. I have played through the DB on another character and it was fun, but it could have been better, I mean, I expected a little bit more to happen after murdering the Emperor of Tamriel.
Anyway, what do you guys think would suit an Imperial pirate who loves his alcohol, likes to brawl, plunder and kill?

Well for someone who likes to brawl, plunder and kill (kill being the key part) then I say DB all the way! I found the DB armor much more useful for me. Completing the TG questline gives you a much improved opportunity to unload all your plunder much easier though. You can absolutely do both though without any difficulty of course. Enjoy!

Well for rp I would say DB if your character likes killing or has no qualms about it. Several times in the theives guild they talk of how they chose it instead of the DB because it was easier and what not, but at least they don't get wiped out to the point of extinction....... ah well DB all the way... plus their hideout looks much better.

Why not Thieves Guild and then Dark Brotherhood? Or both at the same time? Seems a pirate would be happy to be a member of both.

Has Lord Aethok ever considered The Companions? They may not be as amoral as the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild but they certainly like to brawl and drink. Of those two Sahdira thinks the Thieves Guild would be a better fit for a pirate.

Dark Brotherhood, then Thieves'.
DB gives access to the most broken-strong one handed weapon in the game, Windshear, which also happens to come as a scimitar (the standard skyrim pirate's weapon of choice)!

Seeing brawl, plunder, and kill looks like it would fall in the Dark Brotherhood. The Thieves Guild is more about secrecy and sneaking; and very rarely is killing acceptable. Knowing that if you kill someone, you have to pay to pay the Guild blood money, I don't think that a pirate would enjoy the Guild so much. Then again, my association with them is also through Nocturnal, and my greed overpowers my bloodlust.

Why not both? I like to switch from time to time. I like to sneak, steal, brawl, go in full force and annihilate.
You have to be flexible.

Its kind of incongruous. Wearing Legendary Dragonbone heavy armor (Armor rating 796) and be completely silent.

I have only played skyrim on my xbox 360 with one character from the beginning My Khajiit warrior Sabretooth wiped out the dark brotherhood and joined the thieves guild however I sometimes wish I hadnt of wiped out the dark brotherhood since I cant get shadowmere but I got tired of astrids hit squads and wanted revenge so it was kill her and all her kind !!
