WHAT HAPPENS TO STORES WHEN OWNER DIES?

I just recently had a situation where I went to Morthal and the town was attacked by a dragon. After I finally killed the dragon I saw he had fried a couple Morthal citizens. So I looted there corpses. But anywhere I keep I trying to go to the Mortar & Pestle Alchemy shop and there is no shopkeeper. A little bit later I was looking through my keys and I noticed I had the key to the Motar & Pestle. I don't remember stealing it, but if I did would she still be able to open up shop? And my other question is if she was killed by the dragon is her shop closed for business now? Because that would suck big time.

Im pretty sure that some shops have relatives take over the shops day to day operations but usually shops with no family have nobody to man the till after the pass

usually it's taken over by a second person who's present in the shop.
If however that person if killed the shop will close and you won't be able to purchase anything anymore.

If something like this happens by accident i advice you to reload a previous or auto save and prevent the death.

hope this answers your question:D
